Assessment meeting Federal and State Requirements

Due to an E Learning Day on 4/2/25 and a late start on 4/3/25 the testing calendar has been modified. The current calendar is a reflection of the most accurate testing dates.

Testing is used in schools to measure student achievement. State tests are given to students in a district once a year, based on their grade level and subject area. The following are Minnesota required assessments. Individual Student Reports (ISR's) will be given to parents at the fall Parent Teacher Conferences of 2023, or noted otherwise on the individual school testing calendar.

Minnesota Test of Academic Skills
(MTAS)
Alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. It is part of the Minnesota assessment program. The MTAS measures reading, mathematics, and science skills that are linked to the general education curriculum. NA

ACCESS for ELLsUsed to monitor English learners’ progress as they develop academic language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. ACCESS meets federal and state legislative requirements. Up to 30 - 65 minutes per test

American College Testing (ACT)Students in grades 11 and 12 must be given an opportunity to participate in a nationally recognized college entrance exam on a school day to meet state legistlative requirementsin. The assessment monitors students’ development of and growth in career and college readiness.4.25 hrs.

Ongoing testing is used within the Little Falls School District each year to monitor student progress towards grade level expectations and help inform instructional decisions. The following are assessments used in our district. Results will be given to parents at parent/teacher conferences.

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)Measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. ASVAB measures aptitues in four domains:Verbal, Math, Science and Technical, and Spatial.3.5 hours
