Ashley McClendon's boyfriend, 33-year-old Marcus Allen Davis, allegedly was driving a 1996 Ford Coupe back to Pageland when an officer reportedly saw the car run a stop sign before midnight on Dec. 31. A traffic stop was attempted, but Davis refused to stop. As the car fled down South Pearl Street near Tory Road it left the road and struck a tree, killing passenger McClendon.

Johnny C. Martin, Jr. arrived at a gas station at 7:10 p.m. While at the gas station, Martin allegedly carjacked a woman, shooting at her while stealing her car. The Ware County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol found the stolen car driven by Martin and pursued. Martin eventually went off the road into a field. When officers approached the car, they found Martin with a fatal gunshot to the head and a gun in his hand.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence call. When deputies arrived, the man was gone. The man reportedly had a felony warrant for a violation of an assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, kidnapping, vandalism, and a domestic violence restraining order violation. Deputies learned the suspect was in the city of Beaumont. A helicopter found the suspect's car. When officers located the man, he tried to flee by ramming his car into other cars. An officer and deputy shot and killed him.

About 5:35 p.m., Joseph Jemar Hinson was allegedly driving a car when police tried to pull him over, and he fled. Police pursued him until he ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a fence and wrecked, killing back seat passenger Ny'Darius McKinney. Hinson was charged with failure to stop for a blue light resulting in death.

Police were called to a shooting that injured a man at about 4:15 a.m., after an off-duty officer heard gunshots. That victim, a man, was taken to a hospital. The off-duty officer had noted a white Mercedes-Benz vehicle near the shooting scene and passed along the description to other officers. Police looking for the vehicle pulled someone over at Dartmouth and Wayne avenues, a residential intersection less than a mile from the shooting earlier, police said. The vehicle was the one reportedly involved in the shooting, and there were three people inside. A man jumped out with a gun and shot at officers, who shot and killed him.

Officers responded to a report of a person with a handgun. Upon arrival, officers learned Christopher Thomas had allegedly fired several shots toward a home then fled on foot. Later that night, Thomas returned to the same hme and fired multiple shots striking one of the occupants in the foot. Officers found Thomas at another residence about 3 a.m. They ordered Thomas to surrender. Thomas fired at officers from inside. He came out of the home through the front door armed with a handgun and wearing body armor. He went back into the home and fired at officers while standing in the front doorway. Officers shot and killed him.

Officers reportedly ordered Dubois to drop the gun, but he did not. Dubois ran, and officers chased him. Lyndon McLeod, 47, went on a shooting rampage across Denver, allegedly killing Alicia Cardenas, Alyssa Gunn-Maldonado and Michael Swinyard. He then traveled to Lakewood, where he killed Danny Scofield. McLeod traveled to the Belmar shopping area, where he shot and killed Sarah Steck, 28. At several points throughout the rampage, McLeod exchanged gunfire with both Lakewood police and Denver police. McLeod then encountered Lakewood Officer Ashley Ferris. Ferris ordered McLeod to drop his weapon as he approached her. He ignored her commands and shot Ferris in the abdomen. Ferris shot and killed McLeod.

Algona police responded after receiving reports shortly before 1 p.m. of a domestic violence situation involving an armed, suicidal man and three hostages. There was an existing no-contact order in effect between the man and at least one of the hostages. Police attempted to remove the hostages, but were fired upon by the man. The officers retreated and called for backup. After several hours of conversation and attempts at negotiation with the man, the negotiation team concluded that a potential remained for the man to harm the hostages. Police then initiated a rescue mission to remove the hostages from the home. All three hostages were removed and sustained no injuries. Shortly after the hostages were rescued, two officers encountered the man and shot and killed him.

Police spotted a 2018 Chevy Silverado around 11:20 p.m. and attempted to perform a traffic stop. Roberto Salgado fled from police in the vehicle. The pursuit ended around 3 a.m. The truck, which had OnStar, was disabled through that system. When the truck was stopped, Salgado got out and there was an exchange of gunfire between him and two Escondido police officers. Salgado was shot and killed. He was being sought for a shooting.

Deputies responded to a report of a fight at a home at around 8:15 a.m. When deputies arrived, they saw a man get inside a vehicle, take off at a high rate of speed and then fire a gun out the window. Deputies chased the vehicle, which at one point jumped the median and was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-70B and were eventually able to stop the car. The driver was found in the vehicle with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot.

At about 1 p.m., a loss prevention officer at a Walmart confronted Benny Antonio Hood, who allegedly had put items into a backpack and was attempting to leave the store without paying. When two DeKalb police officers, one of whom was working an off-duty job at the store, confronted Hood, he fired a handgun. One of the officers attempted to subdue the man with a stun gun. Albion Department of Public Safety officers attempted to pull over Brian Laxton for not having plates. Laxton fled west on Interstate 94, and police pursued. Laxton allegedly shot at police. The chase ended when a Calhoun County deputy ran into Laxton's car. He ran from the car with a handgun, attempting to enter an occupied home. Officer Christof Klein told Laxton to drop the gun, but Laxton turned toward Klein with the gun in hand, and Klein shot and killed him.

He fled on foot and allegedly fired at police, injuring Burton Police Officer Dalton Christie and Genesee County Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Fachting. Police shot and killed Pinkston.

Deputies responded around 6:52 p.m. to a call about a woman threatening to harm herself. When deputies arrived, a man came out of the home and told deputies that Chantel Myers, was threatening to harm herself with a firearm and had fired one shot inside the home. The man also gave deputies a suicide note handwritten by Myers. Deputies used a public address system to communicate with Myers. Myers remained inside for a while, making verbal threats toward the deputies, before allegedly coming out of the home with a firearm. Myers allegedly advanced toward the deputies in an aggressive manner while continuing to threaten to harm them. Myers got between the two patrol units the deputies were using for cover, then raised her weapon and pursued one of the deputies around the vehicle. The deputy shot and killed Myers.

At about 7:43 p.m., a deputy saw a 2018 Honda motorcycle traveling east at a high rate of speed. The deputy pursued the motorcycle east on W. Water Street and learned that the motorcycle had been previously reported stolen out of the City of Ithaca. The deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle. The motorcycle slowed to a near stop before turning around and traveling at high speeds west on W. Water Street, against the flow of one-way roadway traffic. The deputy did not pursue the motorcycle and radioed the Communications Center, advising them that the motorcycle had fled the stop. The motorcycle continued west on W. Water Street and struck a 2016 Ford Fusion. James Thigpen was killed.

The deputy allegedly saw indicators to investigate the driver for potential drug trafficking, and Dehut was arrested. He was taken to a sheriff's substation. Dehut was described as cooperative and willing to provide a statement. There was no force used by any of the deputies involved. During the interview, Dehut began to act strangely. Medics reportedly arrived within five minutes of being called. Dehut's condition deteriorated from there, and medics administered "multiple rounds" of Narcan, a drug which quickly counteracts the effects of an overdose. Dehut died.

Officers then conducted a high-risk traffic stop, eventually pulling him over to the side of the road where officers began to speak with him. During the exchange, officers noticed the man had blood on his hands, and they ordered him to exit his vehicle and put his hands up. The man got out of his car holding a firearm in his right hand and ignored police commands to raise his hands. Four officers shot and killed him.

The Minnesota State Patrol and the Wright County Sheriff's Office assisted in the pursuit, which ended near Monticello after police set out road spikes to deflate the vehicle's tires. When officers approached, the person inside appeared to have a fatal self-inflicted gunshot.

The woman took the deputies to Raborn's bedroom, where they discovered the man. One of the deputies reportedly was in the bedroom with Raborn, and his mother told him to drop his weapon. The deputy shot and killed Raborn.

Deputies responded to reports of a vehicle driving the wrong way on the interstate. Police found the vehicle unoccupied on the shoulder of the road. A deputy eventually found the driver, David Talbert, standing near the interstate. Talbert allegedly was holding a gun and ran toward the deputy. The deputy shot and killed Talbert.

Around 1 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired near Dove Court. When police arrived, they found a man armed with a rifle, shooting at cars and houses. The man shot down a police drone that was attempting to survey the area. Police said Guadalupe Zavala fired from inside the home in the direction of officers and other residents. After hours of standoff, Zavala reportedly set fire to the inside of the garage. The flames soon engulfed the house, and Zavala came outside where he was confronted by officers, and the officers shot and killed him.

Bowie County Sheriff's Office responded shortly before noon regarding a suicidal person. Once there, deputies attempted to make contact with Mark Peters. Peters allegedly fired one shot from inside of the home and then refused to come outside. Deputies retreated and negotiated with Peters. On one occasion, Peters exited the home and fired the weapon, before returning back inside the home. Peters eventually exited the home again, still carrying the weapons. Peters allegedly walked through the front yard and turned toward deputies. A Bowie County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed Peters.

Deputies saw a suspicious truck with stolen license plates. Michael Dingman fled, but because of "legislative reasons" deputies reportedly did not follow. Dingman later crashed on East Bigelow Gulch Road. Deputies used footprints in the snow to search for Dingman. When they found him, gunfire was exchange among Dingman and deputies. Dingman was shot and killed.
