We call this an 'experiment' because everybody should be individually quarantined and monitored; we suspect that due to the airborne nature of the virus, everybody on board could be

infected through the ventilation system. As the data from China cannot be trusted; the evolution of this case; where we know the exact date of initial infection, gives us

insight into how the world population will undergo this virus over the coming period. The message of hope to the passengers is that by contracting this virus first, they will still have

medical attention plentiful available (some argue that it's better to get this disease first) - many people might get it when medical resources are not adequate any more.

Normally a quarantine period resets whenever a new (missed) case is found. It seems clear by now that this will not change for a while as the crew isn't even living isolated.
