Purpose:

This spreadsheet calculates the equivalent number of bolts to be removed from the gross area of a member under tensile loading.

Variables:

nb = The number of bolts along the failure path.

s = Longitudinal center-to-center spacing (pitch)

g = Transverse center-to-center spacing (gage)

Zigzag Count = The number of bolt staggerings with the same configuration.

dh = Bolt hole diameter (Typically bolt diameter + 1/16")

Critical Spacing = The spacing beyond which a staggered failure path does not control for the given gage.

ns = The equivalent bolt holes corresponding to the spacing.
