5/5/2020 11:57:54AdelinaENoI messed up on the decimals, the way I broke down the numbers into decimals were the wrong way of breaking them up.Isabella P"So the first thing I did was change 1/4 into 0.25 because 1/4 is 25%. And I did 50% to 0.50 because I know that 0.50 is 50% in decimal form. I did this because it would be easier to subtract and add. So then I did 0.85- 0.25 which equals 0.60, then added 0.50 to 0.60 and I got 1.10"Yes, I liked her response because it was simple. 5/5/2020 15:06:14AlvaroHernandezYesCindyFirst, I converted everything into percentages. After I did that, I had 85%, 25%, and 50%. Then I did 85% - 25% which gave me 60%. And then I added 60% and 50% which gave me 110%. So, therefore 0.85 - 1/4 + 50% = 110%. 5/5/2020 14:07:04AnjleenBekanoNo should have looked more closely at the problem because I thought that 1/4 + 50% was 1/4 - 50%.Isabelle PetersI used mental math by starting left ro right because since it is like PEMDAS and there is more than one operation, then you do PEMDAS and since there are to operations (subtraction and addition) you would do left to right. Since I know that 1/4 is equivalent to 25, then it is 25. Before I subtract, I start to think about the 50. I know that the fraction of 50 is 50/100. So I thought of them as fraction where 1/4 is now 25/100 and 0.85 is now 85/100. First I did 85/100 - 25/100 which gives me 60/100. Now to do the addition part. 60/100 + 50/100 equals 110/100. So if I shorten my answer, it would be 110/100 or just 110 or 1 10/100 which is the shortened fraction form. She explained the entire process she used and she made it clear about how she did it. Also before she did anything she changed all the numbers into fractions.1Horse

8
5/5/2020 10:28:33AntonioMNoSo I got 10% but the right answer was 110% because you need to change all of the numbers into percentages so 1/4 is 25% also 0.85 is 85% so then you have to subtract 85% and 25% and you should get 60%. Then you will add 60% and 50% and then you will get 110%.Jorgeso I mad 0.85 to 85 and I know 1/4 is 25 percent so I subtracted 25 from 85 and got 60 and then added 50 percent and got 1.10I like it because he mostly did all percents like he turned 0.85 and 1/4 into a percent then he did PEMDAS but only adding and subtracting so it really made scence for me. 5/5/2020 9:39:10AustinCNoThe key to solving this problem was to convert all of the numbers into like values so they could easily be computed. I converted the 1/4 to 0.25 which made it easier to subtract from 0.85 to give me 0.60, but I didn't convert 50% to a decimal so it could be easily added to .60. to give the correct answer of 1.1. The mistake I made was I took 50% of the .60 to get.30 and added those two numbers together to get .90. I should have simply converted the 50% to .50 and added it to .60 to get 1.1.Damien"4.25 can be decomposed into a 4 and .25 if you multiply 4 times 8 you will get 32 what I did for the 8 when I multiplied it with .25 is I divided it by 2 and got 4 so 4 times .25 is 1 or 1.00 and if you multiplied it by 2 because you divided it you will get 2 in all and then you have to add that to the 32 and you get 34.

Actual question now
What I did for 0.85 - 1/4 + 50% is I took the 1/4 and made it a decimal it became .25 and if you take .25 and subtract .85 you will get sixty hundredths. Since .60 is in the hundredths place it will make a percent once you make it a percent it is 60% + 50% as the question if you add them you will get 110%. Another way that I did this problem is by making .85 a fraction if you make this a fraction you can make it 85/100 after that you can make the 50% 50/100 then you can make 1/4 25/100 then subtract 25/100 from 85/100 and get 60/100 then add 50/100 and get 1 10/100 simplified to be 1 1/10. 0.85 - 1/4 is .60 if you add the 50% which is .50 you will get 1.10 as your answer."

5/5/2020 13:47:54KaylaWYesAutumn ISo to make the equation easier, I made 0.85, 1/4, and 50% all equivalent to each other. I kept 0.85 as it was and changed 1/4 and 50% to decimals. I made 1/4 0.25 and made 50% 0.50. Now all I had to do was solve the equation. 0.85 - 0.25 = 0.60. Then, 0.60 + 0.50 = 1.10I liked her response because it was simple but thorough. I liked how she used numbers and symbols to show how she did and thought on how to solve it.3 or moreHorse

5/5/2020 17:04:03KimberlyBischelNoMy error was I put the wrong fraction for 0.85 and got the wrong answer when I added them up.I liked Cindy Q's the best.First, I converted everything into percentages. After I did that, I had 85%, 25%, and 50%. Then I did 85% - 25% which gave me 60%. And then I added 60% and 50% which gave me 110%. So, therefore 0.85 - 1/4 + 50% = 110%. I liked it the best because I like the way she made it into all percentages and the way she found her answer by subtracting 25% from 85% then added 60% and 50% together to get the answer. I also liked it because it was a quick way to do it.3 or moreHorse

5/5/2020 9:21:20KyleHNoI did not get the right answer because I though the part of the 50% was supposed to mean 50% of 0.60 which would mean 30. I actually got 90 since 0.85 - 0.25 + 0.30 would be 90. I noticed that the 50% meant 50% out of 1. This would definitely change the answer drastically.Giana M.I got 110 because I saw that you can turn 0.85 into 85% and 1/4 into 25%. Then I did almost like PEMDAS. 85%-25%+50%. 85%-25%=60%+ 50%=110.I really like her response because it is very easy to understand and it is probably one of the most simple and easiest ways to solve this. I also know that 50% of half, which means that 50% is equal to 0.5. Since both operations (addition and subtraction) were in the same equation, I had to the operations left to right because of PEMDAS. 0.85 - 0.25= 0.6. Then 0.6 + 0.5= 1.1. 5/5/2020 15:27:40ValeriePadillaNoI didn't notice that it was 0.85 rather than 0.84. To start off, if I used 0.85, I would've used subtraction or addition since its not an even number while 0.84 is an even number so I thought of division.
