Ausgewählte Personen können dabei in verschiedenen Begegnungen und Stationen Wissenschaft und unterschiedlichste Fragestellungen mit allen Sinnen wahrnehmen. Sie finden hier einen Raum, selbst Fragen zu stellen und mit Forschenden zu diskutieren. An verschiedenen Stellen begegnen ihnen Fragen anderer als Filmsequenzen oder Soundcollage. Impulse aus diesen unterschiedlichen Begegnungen sollen danach in bestehende und zukünftige Dialogformate eingebunden werden, um auch andere Institutionen und Forschende inspirieren, neue Wege für den Austausch mit der Öffentlichkeit zu erproben. Recherchereise im Mai und Juni Zusätzlichen Input erhält das „Zentrum der Neugierde“ von einer kleinen Recherchereise in und um Berlin. An zwei Tagen im Mai und Juni macht sich die Kompanie Kopfstand auf den Weg, um mit Bürgerinnen und Bürgern ins Gespräch zu kommen. Making music involves physical and mental processes that are uniquely creative and expressive, and therefore has strong potential for social interaction and self-definition. All of these features suggest that participant-led music activities can address disadvantages including barriers to cultural participation and employment, poorer wellbeing and limited social networks. This partnership between University of Edinburgh and Limelight Music explores how musical opportunities can be meaningful and engaging for participants disadvantaged by physical or cognitive impairments, and seeks to capture any social benefits that musical participation might have for them. The community music workshops provided by Limelight are innovative in providing education in basic music skills for individuals often denied access to music-making, and in prioritising those individuals’ own musical preferences. The objectives for this project are ground-breaking: both to educate and to benefit the lives of disadvantaged participants through group music-making that facilitates social cohesion and expressive communication, and through developing skills that enhance life opportunities. Die TRA Present Pasts fördert Projekte und Initiativen an allen Schnittstellen des TRA Profils. Förderanträge können jederzeit gestellt werden. Der Lenkungsausschuss der TRA Present Pasts tagt mehrfach im Jahr und entscheidet über Förderanträge. By sharing knowledge, building relationships and working collaboratively, the BEYOND RESISTANCE Network hopes to inspire creative solutions to AMR. The network was launched with a workshop at the ASCUS Labs in Summerhall in August 2018, and has now secured funding through the Edinburgh Centre for Medical Anthropology and Atelier Network to continue its activities into the new 2018/19 academic year. Reframing AMR – launching workshop report (extract) BEYOND RESISTANCE Network launched with a half-day inaugural workshop for researchers on 24 August 2018. For the inaugural workshop, ‘reframing AMR’ was the central theme, with particular focus paid to finding alternatives to a militaristic understanding of infection and treatment. It was held in association with the ASCUS Lab art science lab at Summerhall. By hosting the workshop in this unique venue, UK’s largest publicly accessible laboratory for interdisciplinary art/science experimentation, BEYOND RESISTANCE started as it means to go on: embracing the blurring of boundaries between artist studio, laboratory and lecture hall. Reflecting this, the Network was delighted to welcome participants from a diverse range of disciplines: Microbiology, Medical Anthropology, Political Science, Architecture, Herbalism, Medical Sociology, Diagnostics, Social Work and Environmental Humanities.
