This template has been built for you to keep track of your podcast earnings and outlays.

It is the working paper you will give to your accountant at the end of each tax year in order to calculate your net profit for your accounting and tax purposes.

A note about the types of transactions your podcast will have:

Monetary outlays
Some monetary outlays for your podcast are what we call expenses and others are what we call assets

For the sake of simplicity we are referring to both of these as outlays

For the sake of completeness, note that:

Expenses are outlays that you pay for services and items for your podcast that don't last more than 1 year

Examples of expenses are: hosting fees, subscriptions to software

Expenses are set off income to work out your net profit for accounting and tax purposes.

Assets are outlays that you pay for your podcast to operate and are once-off costs for things that last more than 1 year

Examples of assets are: hardware like laptops, microphones, headphones, cameras and digital assets like logos and music

Assets are "written-off" over time against income and that time varies depending on the amount of the assets and type of asset

Ask your accountant for assistance with your net profit calculation and your tax return. You can provide your accountant with this document for that purpose.

Inflows
If monetization is your goal, you'll receive funds from advertising, supporters, subscribers, affiliate links, sale of products and donations to name a few.

Your accountant can help you work out which are these inflows are incomes for accounting and tax purposes.
