The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI)
SPNI is the largest nature conservation organization in Israel and among the oldest in the world. Founded in 1953, only five years after the nation was born, by a determined group of teachers, scientists, and others who fought to save the Hula Wetlands. Since then, SPNI has been successfully protecting and preserving Israel’s natural resources, environment, biodiversity, and unique landscape for future generations. Conservation
Preserving the landscape, biodiversity, and ecosystems of Israel and the region.
We care for our natural resources, advance all life forms, and secure the land for the future. Highlights of our work include blazing the 620-mile epic Israel National Trail, helping establish Israel’s first urban wildlife park (Gazelle Valley), protecting the Kinneret Circular Trail to provide unhindered public access to the Sea of Galilee’s entire shoreline, and preserving the Jerusalem Forest.
Education
Strengthening understanding and involvement with our natural environment, and changing attitudes towards conservation.
We run a variety of classroom and hands-on educational programs for all ages across the country. Over nine Field Schools sponsor a variety of educational, camping, and recreational programs, and our programs have been adopted in public schools.
Activism
Increasing awareness of environmental issues, advancing sound policies, and promoting sustainable development.
SPNI leads advocacy efforts, working with individuals and communities locally and nationally. Our successes include conducting Israel’s most influential public campaign that prevented the extinction of wildflowers due to over-picking, spearheading a massive public campaign that saved the Jerusalem Forest, saving the biblical Carmel Forest from development, and reviving the Hula Wetlands to create breeding grounds for hundreds of species.

Madriderasmus@yeseuropa.orgWe believe that educational exchange experiences, knowledge and intercultural relations are the most valuable tools for transforming our society and make us more enriched, more respectful to differentiate and be more open to knowledge. That is why we work to participate with an international edge thinking of promoting awareness and recognition of other cultures, exchanges of experiences and the mutual learning between people and organisations of different countries.

In this way we prepare proposals and applications in the lines of international cooperation above all European related to education (formal and non-formal), regional development, social exclusion, culture, local development, youth issues or European citizenship. All our European projects that we work with are evaluated and approved by official programmes as Erasmus+ (see our projects), European Solidarity Corps or Europe for Citizens (see our project) among others. We count on more than 200 projects in the last 10 years.

Our performance in European programmes has been recently awarded with one of the prestigious “Premios Ciudadanos” awards.

Since 2008, we contributed to EU projects for more than 8 million euro.

Developing five minutes walking inside and near public centers mobile application (app):
Brief description of the idea
A mobile application that the target group has on their mobile phone and in their spare time (such as lunchtime at university) to be told what cultural or recreational places without the need for driving (for example, 5 to 15-minute goals On foot) is close to them and thus the project will move forward with the use of smart and stable city and air pollution reduction and climate action assistance. In fact, the idea is based on existing location apps like Google Maps that people use, and an app based on data from people's tastes, on nearby car-free places, showing that they can access relevant places on foot (discount restaurants, movie theaters, cultural venues, etc.) The application will not cost much, but it is up to sponsor’s experts to determine how much it will cost. Also, the return on investment (profit) of this project will come from places introduced to people, restaurants, etc will be taken.
Idea history
Today, clean air as the major requirement in improving the quality of lives is highly in demand which is overshadowed by climate change as well as air pollution. In this regard, policy-making and planning to reverse climate change and air pollution are of great importance. Also, with advances in technology, mobile ap-plications can play a key role in environmental awareness and taking suitable environmental action. Hence, by having benefited from this aspect the idea of " 5-minute walking inside and near public software" has been proposed. An environmental application which can develop in accordance with the user enthusiasm and reveals the 5 up to 10 minutes walking pass ways to the nearest and famous places and also, by considering the suggested discount presented by various stores.
State of Idea
The idea started from here: at Amirkabir University (one of the most famous universities in Iran), the idea was chosen as one of the top ideas in an idea generation competition for the university's sustainable development. At that time the idea was limited to a paper map (paper based), but in the courses held by them, the idea was upgraded to software. In the next step, the idea was sent to the national level for an idea competition organized by UNDP and the Environmental Protection Agency to combat climate change in Iran. It won the first prize in this event. Recently, this idea won another honor and with the help of my idea, I was invited to the "SDSN Youth program – Local Pathway Fellowship" as one of 100 young people from all over the world to implement my idea in my city of residence (Lefcoşa/Nicosia); on a 10-month program.

Maasai Mara University is a chartered public University in Kenya. The University is located in Narok County at the gateway to the world famous Maasai Mara National Reserve within the greater Mara-Mau Ecosystem. The Vision of the University is to be a World-Class University committed to academic excellence for development. Our Mission is to provide quality university education through innovative teaching, research, and consultancy services for development. The University’s overall niche is environmental resource management and conservation focused towards attainment of the University Vision and Mission. The overall niche is supported through four sub niches namely: Tourism, Hospitality and Natural Resource Management; Water Resource, Environmental Management and Technology; Cultural Heritage and Social Development; and Food Security and Health.
Having attended the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) Virtual Fair (26-27th October, 2021) and interacted with your website, we take note of your thematic partnership areas of interest including capacity building and credit mobility. Maasai Mara University wishes to express partnerships interest in Israel through ERASMUS+ in the field of sustainable environmental management and conservation in higher education. Maasai Mara University is located in the Mau Forest Complex which is the largest of the Kenya’s five watersheds. Water originating from the complex offers a lifeline to several ecosystems in Kenya and Tanzania, including the Maasai Mara National Reserve, home to the seventh wonder of the world; The Wild beast migration. However, the Mau forest deforestation has had a devastating effect on farming and other sources of livelihood and this negatively impacts on food security and nutrition. Narok County has witnessed first-hand the effects of a food insecure population. Encroachment of the Mau forest, deforestation, charcoal burning and converting the forest reserve into agricultural farms are practical examples of on-going land uses changes in Narok County that heavily compromise environmental sustainability in this fragile socio-ecological system. What this portends is that for the environment to be conserved and preserved, issues of food insecurity must be redressed.
To conserve Mau ecosystem, and to ensure trickle down effects such as sustainable food production and availability, the Government of Kenya, the County Government of Narok, and other stakeholders have since the year 2004 put in place strategies such as the forced evictions of thousands of people from Mau Forest, reforestation and preventing illegal settlements. It is for this reason that Maasai Mara University would like to strengthen its involvement in environmental conservation and management through empirical research, community engagement and capacity building mandate to conserve Mau forest and enhance food security. Maasai Mara University proposes a multidisciplinary program whose objectives are to: 1. Train households living within the Mau Forest Ecosystem on appropriate strategies for increasing food production. 2. Analyze soils, provide innovative techniques on soil management, weather forecasting and providing information on planting time to households living within the Mau Forest Ecosystem. 3. Educate and equip households living within the Mau Forest Ecosystem with post-harvest handling skills, value addition and marketing of agricultural produce. 4. Develop mobile Apps for locating markets for farm produce and train households living within the Mau Forest Ecosystem on how to use the Apps.
5. Manage and conserve the Mau Forest Ecosystem through community emersion programme for undergraduate students in Maasai Mara University. The Program is aligned with the University’s strategic focus area of being a Centre of Excellence in environmental resource management and conservation and has an overall goal of contributing to achieving the following SDGs: poverty reduction (SDG1), good health and well-being (SDG3), climate action (SDG13), life on land (SDG15), and partnerships for Goals (SDG17). Further, the programme provides our undergraduate students opportunities for experiential learning through community immersion. It is in this light that Maasai Mara University would like to collaborate with ERASMUS+ partners in Israel to undertake the programme. The programme is championed by a multidisciplinary team of eight scholars of the University.

STEM, Problem Solvers (innovation), Engineerimg Pedagogy, Internet of Things in environment. We have a lot in common regarding the education programs in our Universities. Our department Software of Automated Systems has been training specialists in Computer Science since 1992 and in 2004 we switched to preparing Software Engineers. Since 2005, the International Educational Center “Cisco Academy” has been working effectively at our department. Some Cisco Academy courses are integrated to educational program for Software Engineering students. In 2017-2018 our department received a grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) with the project "Matching IT Essentials curriculum to the Ukrainian Educational Program on Informatics for Secondary / High Schools" (CG ID #: 794110). The implementation of the project allowed to improve the quality of teaching computer science in schools and colleges of South regions of Ukraine. Research activities of the department are planned and performed the following main areas: Development of mathematical models and software for their study, in particular: modeling of dynamics and stability of wheel crews, creation of mathematical models of economic transients, application of discrete models for solving problems of solid environment mechanics, development of numerical methods for study of nonstationary processes in elastic bodies, numerical study of the strength of aircraft engine blocks in order to develop criteria for their damage. Research and software implementation of artificial intelligence methods for computer modeling and solving problems of pattern recognition of natural language interface systems, analytical systems for the study of large data sets, etc. Research and development of software for modern Internet and computer networks in particular: Internet of Things, Blockchain technology, optimization and design of computer networks. We would like to establish partnerships with Universitiess to improve training, research and enable student and teacher exchange.npp@zsea.edu.uaUniversityNataliia Poliakova
