Cicero, N.Y. — Two people were injured in a crash involving a patrol vehicle in the town of Cicero and deputies have charged one woman with DWI.

It happened after another vehicle hit a guide rail just before 2:30 a.m. Friday on I-81 south. All Southbound I-81 lanes were closed after the two different crashes, but are now back open. They both took place near the Rt. 31 exit.

Onondaga County Sheriff's office said a vehicle had hit a guide rail. When the deputy arrived, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. While the deputy was investigating the scene, a Chevrolet Equinox hit the deputy's marked patrol vehicle, according to deputies. This was the second crash.

The deputy was not in his vehicle at the time of the crash and was not hurt, according to the Sheriff's office. The driver, Heather McVey, 40, and a passenger of the Chevrolet Equinox were both injured and transported to Upstate University Hospital.

Investigators say McVey was driving drunk and failed to move over when approaching the patrol car that had its emergency lights on.

McVey has been charged with driving while intoxicated and failing to move over when approaching an emergency vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.

A woman accused in the death of a young Rancho Santa Margarita man after she was pursued by police last week reached speeds of 100 mph, officials said Thursday, Aug. 27.

Ariana Joyce, 44, of Los Angeles was in a Toyota Corolla parked against a red curb with its hazard lights flashing near Park Avenue and Glenneyere Street at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, Laguna Beach police Sgt. Jim Cota said in a statement.

Officers performed a traffic stop, and noted that she was speaking “extremely fast,” which led them to believe she was under the influence of drugs, he said.

The woman refused to give officers her driver’s license, then rolled up her window and took off, Cota said. Traffic was light as police chased her through Laguna Beach, and she got up to 100 mph, he said.

A police watch commander called off the pursuit after learning how fast she was going. Joyce crashed just a few minutes later near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Selva Road in Dana Point, Cota said.

Her Corolla slammed into a Subaru Impreza occupied by three people. Jason Carbonell, 23, had to be cut out of the wrecked car, and later died. His twin brother and girlfriend, as well as Joyce, were also hospitalized.

Joyce was arrested following her release from medical care, then charged on suspicion of murder and DUI Monday, Aug. 24.

She remained behind bars Thursday, with bail set at $2 million.

Joyce was the subject of a restraining order requested by Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin in March 2019, according to court documents. She was ordered to stay 100 feet away from the celebrity and his property for at least five years after making numerous unauthorized visits to his home in Malibu. A judge called her actions a “grave risk” to the singer, and remarked on the “escalation of her delusional belief that she is in a romantic relationship with Mr. Martin” during a hearing in 2019.

A South Carolina woman is mourning her husband and daughter who were fatally shot during a fight after a car crash.

On Monday evening, Charles Nicholas Wall, 45, was out helping his stepdaughter, Laura Ashley Anderson, 21, get ready to move into her new home when they got into a fender bender. According to WPDE, Wall had just turned into the driveway of Anderson's new home when he was rear-ended.

A fight ensued that led the other driver, 23-year-old Ty Sheem Ha Sheem Walters III, to allegedly open fire, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found "multiple" people suffering from gunshot wounds. County coroner Kenny Johnson later identified Wall and Anderson as the victims, according to the Georgetown Times.

Now, Wall's wife and Anderson's mother, Kimberly Wall, is speaking out.

“I’m having to bury one of my children and my husband. It’s such a freak thing. I don’t know why this would happen. I just don’t understand,” Kimberly Wall told local station NBC12. “It’s just devastating. I don’t know how we’re going to go forward.”

Lynn Lambert, a family friend, told WPDE Wall had gone to Anderson's home to bring her keys over, which she'd forgotten.

"This all happened because they were selling bunk-beds online and somebody came over to purchase them and she didn't have her keys, and Nick came to bring the keys," Lambert said. "I don't understand how a simple fender bender they called it could turn into double-murder and an attempted to murder...Why? I honestly didn't think it was real. Who does this?"

PORTSMOUTH TWP, MI — A two-vehicle crash in Bay County’s Portsmouth Township has resulted in the death of a Vassar man.

At 3:05 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash scene near the intersection of Cass Avenue Road and North Tuscola Road (M-15), said Sheriff Troy R. Cunningham.

They arrived to find a vehicle that had been heading south on M-15 struck a vehicle that was traveling west on Cass. The impact caused both vehicles to wind up in a nearby ditch.

The driver of the first vehicle, 84-year-old Floyd A. Schluckebier, was ejected, Cunningham said. Schluckebier was taken via ambulance to McLaren Bay Region hospital, where he died a few hours later, the sheriff said.

The 31-year-old Bay City man who had been driving the second vehicle suffered minor injuries, Cunningham said.

Neither driver had been wearing his seat belt, the sheriff added.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Two people were killed Friday morning when a small plane struck a storage building and crashed to the ground in a Broward County industrial area.

The 1969 twin-engine Aero Commander 500S had taken off in Pompano Beach and was heading to Opa-locka, police say. It was only in the air for a few minutes before it crashed around 9 a.m. at 1781 S. Park Road in Pembroke Park.

“I was walking out of the storage when I heard an explosion,” Armando Perez told reporters at the scene in Spanish. “I came out and saw the plane and two bodies. Had I gone out a minute earlier, the plane would’ve fallen on me.”

Sky 10 was above the scene shortly before 9:30 a.m. The bodies of two people were visible toward the front of the plane, surrounded by debris.

Sioux Falls police are trying to find surveillance video of a deadly crash that happened overnight near the Empire Mall.

Just before midnight, officers were called to a crash near 41st Street and Carolyn Avenue. Investigators believe a pickup truck hit a 23-year old man. He died at the scene.

However, police are still trying to figure out what happened leading up to the crash.

“We’re not 100% if he was struck by the vehicle, if he fell from the vehicle, his positioning in relation to the vehicle. There’s just a lot of questions that we don’t have answers to yet,” SFPD spokesman Sam Clemens said.

Investigators say both the driver and the victim knew each other.

Police also say there was an argument between the two before the crash.

Authorities are interviewing witnesses to better understand what happened. There have been no arrests or charges at this time.

Delaware State Police are currently conducting a death investigation related to a boating accident that occurred yesterday afternoon.

The investigation revealed the incident occurred on August 27, 2020, at approximately 4:22 p.m. when the victim, his wife, and granddaughter were fishing in the Indian River south of the South Shore Marina in their boat. The victim discovered his fishing line was caught in the boat’s motor, and he jumped in the water to untangle the line. As the victim attempted to climb the ladder back onto the boat, he fell backward into the water and was unable to swim due to the rough water conditions and strong current. A passing boat observed the victim in distress, pulled the victim from the water onto their boat, and began life-saving measures before being transferred to a Coast Guard boat and transported back to shore. A moped driver in Jenison apparently disobeyed a rule of the road and ended up hospitalized on Saturday afternoon.

Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Christie Wendt didn't immediately disclose any names as she and other first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Baldwin Street and 12th Avenue shortly after 1 PM. It was determined that the moped, operated by a 78-year-old Jenison man, had initially stopped for a red light at the intersection, but then proceeded south into the intersection against the light and into the path of an eastbound SUV, driven by a 55-year-old Hudsonville woman, who was traveling with the green light.
