1 | ABANDONED BECAUSE I COULDN'T KEEP UP WITH STEWIE'S TWEAKS AND THIS WOULD'VE BEEN TURNED INTO A GUIDE FOR STEWIE'S TWEAKS. USE VIVA NEW VEGAS INSTEAD (though the textures section here is still good) | |||

3 | New Vegas Script Extender (xNVSE) | Download the 7z file. Extract the files into the New Vegas folder, outside of the Data folder. Make sure to follow the link to download and install vc_redist.x86.exe too | Gives a huge chunk of these mods the resources needed to do what they do | Adds a bunch of these "function" things that scripts use. |
4 | FNV 4GB Patcher | Works with the GOG version now to let you automatically use NVSE. Extract the contents into the main NV folder, then run the patcher. | I assume you have more than 2GB of RAM. This thing lets the game use more than those 2GB. Now it can use 4GB! | After patching, don't use the NVSE version to launch the game. It automatically loads it in when you use any other method to launch the game. |
5 | JIP LN NVSE Plugin | Newest version. Install normally through MO. | Like the above but super deluxe addon | Optional settings of note (in the included INI) include bLocalizedDTDR which separates head and body armor, so headshots aren't affected by body armor, and bSneakBoundingBoxFix, which lets you crawl under things that look like you could crawl under while crouched. |
6 | JohnnyGuitar NVSE | Required for the various "Just" mods. | Adds more script functions. No harm in installing this if you don't know if you'll be using any mod that requires it. | |
7 | NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash | Can be installed normally through MO. Get the newest version, ignore the beta. | Uses magic to deal with things that would otherwise cause crashes. | I don't know about you, but I don't enjoy having a game crash. Some crashes might slip through if you're using a bad mod, or your computer is haunted, though. |
8 | NVTF - New Vegas Tick Fix | bFastResolution=1 increases performance but uses more energy. Set it to 1 unless you're running off a laptop battery or something. | Replaces NVSR for Win10, since you have to turn off a bunch of features with it. | Turns out NVSR caused a lot of bugs like bouncing NPCs and long fingers, and for the most part the features it has that NVTF doesn't don't actually work right anyway. |
9 | FNV Mod Limit Fix | Fixes the memory issues leading to the 140-ish plugin limit | As the description says, don't get impatient if it takes a while to load your saves, or it'll just crash. The mod author was testing using a large number of huge quest mods, however, so 5+ minutes to initially load your save shouldn't be the norm. | |
10 | OneTweak for FNV | Install normally via MO. | For playing in fake fullscreen mode. | This is the only thing that's ever let me tab out of the game, and then back in. |
11 | FNV BSA Decompressor | Requires INI editing, since it results in extra archives | Gets rid of the compression that makes it not run as good or something, and then also fixes audio files. | The installer should tell you what you need to edit? The TTW INI thing at the bottom has the correct settings for it, since TTW runs this by default. |
12 | Ogg Vorbis Libraries | Install outside of the data folder | Technical audio stuff for performance. | |
13 | Yukichigai Unofficial Patch - YUP | THE bugfix compilation. Everything else is outdated by at least two years. | So many bugs, misplaced items, incorrect stats... | |
14 | New Vegas Heap Replacer | Just read the description for the two main files carefully. | ||
15 | Scripted Ammo Fix | |||
16 | Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod | Will conflict with things like WMX, WME, EVE, *Now works with WRP | Fixes issues in parts of the weapon meshes I didn't know existed. That the parts themselves existed, that is. I'll be referring to this as WMIM. New acronym, would be nice if it could join the ranks of the other popular ones. | Best used for an enhanced vanilla playthrough or any setup that doesn't involve anything that adds weapon mods. WRP was updated to work with it though. (Though WRP is still mostly vanilla resolution and has some silly changes made based on taste.) |
17 | lStewieAl's Tweaks | Whole lot of settings with a ton of bug fixes too. | Stewie's Tweaks Preset by Axonis | |
18 | Unofficial Patch NVSE | YUP doesn't fix things that would require script extenders to fix. These are those fixes. | ||
19 | The Mod Configuration Menu | Make sure you grab "MCM Bugfix2" as well | Most mods (that can be configured) will be configured through this. | That thing that FO4 recently got. |
20 | Fix for the Caesar Legion Armors | Replaces my incredibly small fix mod. | Fixes a ton of mesh issues with Legion armor. | The things you don't even notice (or do notice and then stop noticing). Mesh fixes are the best. |
21 | Throwable Weapon Fixes | Some of these fixes may end up in WMIM. | ||
22 | FNV Occlusion Overhaul | Improves performance in many areas that needed optimization. Incompatible with The Strip Open and Freeside Open (though with the latter it just won't help). | ||
23 | ||||
24 | ALWAYS READ THE MOD DESCRIPTIONS | If playing for the first time, skip everything in the Mechanics section after the two Ragdoll mods. | SciRika @ Nexus Mods | |

26 | Not installed through MO, or requires extra work (like using LODGen). | TTW FAQ - FalloutCustom.ini | Yes this stuff applies to normal New Vegas. Omit the last line unless you're using FNV BSA Decompressor. Make sure you're using JIP LN NVSE or this won't work. | Waiting on a text version of the GamerPoets video. In the meantime, don't use ENBoost, use New Vegas Reloaded / NVGE and just turn off all the graphics settings. |
27 | Has MCM menu (or an ini/config file). Default settings may or may not be "good enough". | Reddit Community Pre-Modding Guide | Reference this for setting up MO2 and other tools! | |

2 | UIO - User Interface Organizer | Install this one after everything else in this section you want. | Makes things play nice. | If you're using MO, this'll stick files in your overwrite folder. This is what it's supposed to do. |
3 | Vanilla UI Plus | Moved to ModDB. Hides undiscovered locations by default now, go to menus\prefabs\VUI+\settings.xml and set the second setting to "1" to get them back. | Vanilla styled UI mod, doesn't need patches for some of the stuff that DarnUI does. Easier to get working out of the box, and has a ton of settings. Actively developed. | Settings are located in menus > prefabs > VUI+ > settings.xml, edit with notepad or something. Personally I change the "StatusInfo" to "2". |
4 | Vanilla HUD Remastered (4K) | Nice high-res assets. | ||
5 | FOV Slider | Easy and proper adjustment of the FOV angle for various things | ||
6 | Quest Item Hider | Clean up your misc items so you can see your actual misc items. | ||
7 | Inventory Search | Uncheck "Enable Menu Hotkeys (Horizontal)" in KeyBoy if you use that. | Lets you filter your inventory, containers, crafting menu, barter menu... | This is in Stewie's Tweaks now |
8 | Universal Item Sorter | It's got scripts, so you don't need patches for it to identify things. | Optional if you want sorting tags. Wish it were this easy in FO4. But Papyrus and how it digs its claws into your save files... anyway, another optional one, if you want your inventory sorted. Icons like VIS would be nice, the text tags are a bit long. | |
9 | Consistent Pipboy Icons | Requires DarNified UI or Vanilla UI Plus to handle scaling | Consistency and quality fixes | |
10 | JIP Selective-Fire | Has a tutorial built-in when you first use the mod. | Lets you switch between burst and single fire for those things that spit bullets really fast when you hold the trigger. | |
11 | JIP Companions Command and Control | Has an MCM menu, and an optional tutorial mode that has descriptions of things. Last updated June 2017. | Improves companion functionality, and lets you have as many companions as you want. | Configurable in MCM, even has icons for a bunch of mod companions. I personally set "C" to toggle the menu instead of having to hold it. Also comes with a "photobooth" guide for making your own icons. |
12 | JIP Improved Recipe Menu | I've forgotten what the vanilla crafting menu looked like, but I remember it was suffering to use | ||
13 | The Weapon Mod Menu | Lets you remove mods you've placed on weapons. | The biggest feature, removing weapon mods, is now in Stewie's Tweaks | |
14 | Tutorial Killer | |||
15 | Faster Sleep Wait | Functionality included in lStewieAl's Tweaks | ||

2 | Simple DLC Delay | Keeps you from getting spammed at the start. OWB for instance you get the radio signal when you're around Nipton | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
3 | Collision Meshes | Can cause performance issues, some meshes are overkill. | Collision meshes | Makes some round things rounder. Lets you shoot through the gaps in fences 'n shit, and other stuff you wouldn't expect to be one solid "block" that blocks stuff. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
4 | Ragdolls | Got basically redone in 2020 | Honestly the ragdoll stuff is hard. If corpses are mangled, either turn on the havok bounder in MCM, or use the following mod (downside for bouncher is that the corpses are still mangled until you approach). | |||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | Just Mods Assorted | A bunch of vanilla-feeling features with lots of MCM settings. | Dynamic Crosshair and Vanilla Sprint are my favorites | |||||||||||||||||||||||
6 | DT Multiplier and DR Adder (MCM) (JIP LN NVSE) (Compatible with Everything) | Last updated October 2017 | Makes companions complain when combined with BLEED. Threshold is a recommended mod but I haven't tried it yet. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
7 | Universal Headwear DT Boost | For use with JIP LN's bLocalizedDTDR setting | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | Economy Overhaul | Economy balance. Was merged out of JSUE and into its own mod. | Optional, if you don't like how the economy is balanced in the base game. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | Character Creation Streamlined | Billionth time starting a new game? Don't want to skip character creation completely? This is the mod for you. Safe to disable after leaving Doc Mitchell's house. | Skips a few lines of dialogue, the vigor tester brings up a normal interface for setting all your stats at once. Skips the psych eval, and you are no longer asked if you want to revise your character upon leaving Goodsprings. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | More Realistic Aiming Fixed | Just got updated to fix MCM. | Allows for tweaking of conditions and stuff | Adds a more natural feeling to that waver stuff. Has a ton of settings in MCM. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | Reload Reloaded | Updated Jan 2018, MCM settings now work properly with VUI+ | Same as above. Unfortunately causes you to annoyingly re-equip your weapon on cell changes. | To consider: Realistic Reloading, has the same features as Manual Reloading | ||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | Immersive Recoil 2.0 | Last updated November 2017 | Functional and updated. Better than Real Recoil, requires no patches or INI edits to work with new bullets like Real Recoil. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | Faction Armor Redone | Basic faction armor fix mod. Lets you gain fame. | Other choice would be FAUE, disguises only work if your face is covered, but excludes Powder Ganger armor. That one also requires a YUP patch. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | Alternative Repairing | New update as of October 2017 | The definite repairing mod, got a recent update. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | Barton Thorn Acts Normally | Now he comes to you. | I swear he approached me in my first playthrough. My computer is haunted, though. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | SafeAutoSave | lStewieAl's Tweaks includes a setting for a different version of this. (I feel like I need to make a separate tab just for merged mods to show these clearly though.) | Includes some new restrictions to saving to prevent save corruption. Saving while a cell is still loading is apparently the #1 one way that saves corrupt. | According to the Lutana dude, any save that overwrites another save has a chance of corrupting your save. This will not always show as "your save is corrupted", it can show itself as your game crashing more often. So anyone who says their save has never corrupted even though they only load from quicksaves or some crap is lying if they've ever had their game crash. "Oh I only have my game crash once ever few hours" is bullshit too, I haven't had a single crash in months. Never settle for mediocrity. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
17 | Corpse Equip | I feel weird when I accidentally loot some armor I didn't want, and now the guy is in his underwear. Or nude, if you're using a nude mod. Great for both uses. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
19 | Lonesome Road True Faction Allegiance | Part of YUP tweaks | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
20 | Caravan Card Control | If you've got DM, use that ESP, move the other one to the optional files. You have to use the ESM too though. | Never again do you have to ask "Wait, do I have this card already?" and you can get back to not actually knowing how to play Caravan. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
21 | Casino Exchange All | More options for trading money for chips. | Always glanced over this because I don't actually really gamble in the game. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
22 | Melee Reach Fixed - Ultimate Edition | Now has a scripted version so you don't have to manually patch YUP fixes because the thing didn't automatically bash. | I don't play melee much, get feedback from people who do? | |||||||||||||||||||||||
23 | Complete Respec | The only "safe showracemenu". | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
24 | BLEED | Damage mod, honestly better than RWD, covers the DLC which RWD doesn't. | Figure I'd stick this here. If you want a damage adjusting mod, this is what I'd recommend. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
25 | JSawyer Ultimate Edition | Optional GRA Merged and Purist Extras. Uses MCM. | Scripted, so little patching needed. Set up LOOT to load this after UP+, or do it manually. Only thing that needs manual sorting right now. | The one problem is that enough is scripted that even if you make a bashed patch you might not be getting the values you want. |
A | B | C | D | |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Sorted from "big" to "small". Sorta. | Everything optional, LOD section highly recommended. | (Not like any part of this guide isn't optional.) | |
2 | Link | Technical Notes and/or Release/Update Date | Description-ish | Comment-ish |
3 | FNVLODGen | Manually download the tool, and get the resources, and the option trees file. The NMC patch fixes the purple mountain problem. NMC Medium has a texture size problem that will prevent entire sections from showing in-game. | See more distance | Set it up to run through MO, and add -o:"C:\FNVLODGenOutput" to the arguments field (or replace the path with wherever you want the files to go) then after running it, dump the resulting files into a folder in MO's mod folder. Or have it generate straight to there. FOR MO2: Don't do that, instead check the box to have it output to an existing mod. Make the same folder in MO's mod folder, and direct it there. |
4 | LOD additions and improvements | Requires FNVLODGen. Hide/delete "billboard01blod.dds" and "billboard01blod_n.dds", this will fix issues with green textures. | See more more distance | Gives FNVLODGen more objects it can render. Still missing things that I'd think would be great to have, like bridges. But this isn't Skyrim, we don't have dyndolod |
5 | Improved LOD Noise Texture | See better generic distant ground | The ground texture gets turned into a generic "noise" texture in the distance. This is better. | |
6 | Less Horrendous Vikki and Vance Casino LOD | Requires use of FNVLODGen | Fixes the single worst bug in the game. | I don't know why the texture was so horrible even after the others popped in, but this fixes it. Surely you've noticed it, right? And it bothered you? |
7 | Much Needed LOD | Get the NMC patch if you use that. | Even more LOD. | YESSSSSSSS |
8 | LOD Texture Pack for NMC's Textures | Only if you use NMC. Needs FNVLODGen. Load after Much Needed LOD. | Hide the Camp McCarran wall texture bit if you use the flag stone walls from Textures Over Time (the only mod that keeps the flag stone as flag stone like it says in the name of the texture damn it. | |
9 | Enhanced Terrain LOD - TTW_NV_All_Texture_Packs | 16GB, pick a pack based on whatever you're using for ground textures. | Pre-generated LOD land masses. | It's a huge file. Don't go trying to download it through NMM. Why are you even still using NMM? Anyway after you download it you can go into its MO folder and delete the FO3 half of it, if you need the extra drive space and aren't using TTW. |
10 | FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting | Updated Feb 2018, finalized. Brighter nights were fixed, too. | Changes weather patterns without being overkill like Nevada Skies. Removes tints and balances colors. Consider playing with the default lighting for your first time, unless you specifically get a headache from it. | Best looking IMO. Doesn't need an ENB to look great. ENB version is no longer maintained anyway. Consider Clarity or Fellout instead if you only want to remover the tint (only difference is taste in color). |
11 | Interior Lighting Overhaul | Needs a patch for YUP to prevent crashes because of how a building interior was fixed. | Some mood lighting | Are there even any other mods for indoor lighting? Friend of mine who has an eye for this thing said vanilla interior lights are underwhelming. |
12 | Character Expansions Revised | Think FCO or NVR but it actually works out of the box. Uses the vanilla races and facegen data. No new assets, so it'll work fine with any texture replacers | NVCE had too many non-face related changes. I actually switched to Revised ages ago, but never swapped them out here. | |
13 | Tops Casino Neon Restored | Makes the neon outside The Tops do the animated thing again. It was removed early on because of those things called consoles not having enough memory. | Honestly should be in Uncut. Just one mesh edit, makes the neon work. | |
14 | Old World Blues - Path Lighting | Makes those little lantern things light up or something | ||
15 | Strip Wall Billboards | Adds some of the actual billboard pictures to some of the billboards that make up the wall surrounding the Strip. Did you even realize those were billboards? | How it's supposed to look. Honestly should be in Uncut | |
16 | Dusty Distance | Haven't tried this yet. | Morrowind-style fog lite | Obscures bad LOD, and honestly fits thematically. Grab it if flickering in the distance gets on your nerves. |
17 | Enhanced Camera | See your body in 1st person when you look down. | I was just reading the comments and apparently there's a settings INI for this. Best way to access this is MO's "INI-files" tab. | |
18 | Enhanced Grass | Some stuff needs to be manually adjusted in a bashed patch, ignore the Object Bounds though, or better yet change it back to the vanilla values in the plugin so you never have to see it again. | Adds some animation and lighting related tweaks to grass. | No new meshes or textures. Won't work with things like "More Grass". Will work with normal INI edits to up the grass density. |
19 | Burning Campfire REDONE | Released July 2017 | Campfires, uh, burn. | Neat little thing, worth noting because some mod rec lists have the old one that could bloat saves pretty badly, and wasn't performance friendly. |
20 | Burning Campfire REDONE - Honest Hearts Patch | Fix for the above. | ||
21 | Burning Campfire REDONE Fix | When you activate a campfire while it's already burning, you get double fire. This fixes it. Thanks to AlJoelson. | ||
22 | Semitransparent Door Glass(plugin version) | Potentially use Qolore's version. | Super small tweak thing. | Kinda neat. For conflicts with YUP, look at the type of door YUP changes it to, then switch it to the semitransparent version of the same type. (Need to see if that was among Qolore's fixes) |
23 | Bighorner Model Variants | Optional, but again, neat. Probably could fix the issue with bashing it by just... not bashing it? | Gives different Bighorners (like the calves) different models, instead of them all having the same model but set to a different scale. | Also kinda neat. Doesn't bash as well as it could. The mesh file list thing needs to be done by hand, or I'll make a patch or something, maybe? |

---|---|---|---|---|
1 | These are mostly single-subject retextures. Things that aren't in Ojo or NMC, or are better than versions in other texture packs. So expect lots of little clutter items. | |||
2 | Link | Technical Notes | Description-ish | Comment-ish |
3 | EXE - Effect teXtures Enhanced | Made from scratch hi-res retextures of every visual effect in the game | Look at the example comparisons on the page. No reason not to use this (unless you're on a toaster but the textures don't seem large enough to cause any problems, unlike NMC's large pack). True to vanilla, without being upscaled crap. | |
4 | PM's HD Ammo Boxes | Get the 1K version, 2K if you like being able to read boxes? New as of Oct 2017 | True to Vanilla. | Can all retextures be this loyal to the originals? |
5 | Pause Menu HD | Released Sep 2017 | IDK. Probably will want to turn off DYNAVISION's effects that appear in menus to see the wonderful HD texture. | |
6 | PM's Med-Textures - HD Chems and Venoms | Released March 2017. Grab the base file, Med-X, and normals. | Really nice textures, not as exactly true to vanilla as their ammo textures, but still amazing. | |
7 | High Res Vanilla Posters and Graffiti | Totally not just linking this because it's mine | Upscaled using only the finest algorithms x4, then downsampled by half... I don't know, I think I got relatively good results out of this experiment. The graffiti that used individual textures (instead of being pulled from a block with multiple) turned out horrible though and were not included. The others turned out alright, but it's the posters that turned out best. | |
8 | aMidianBorn NV Book of Water | Get both, ditch the plugins. | Makes radscorpions almost black, so I end up using this to tell if archive invalidation is working right. | |
9 | Bornagain Combat Armor | Get either the 2k or 4k version + the optional file. | Changes the color though, so not really a purist choice. Awfully nicely done though. | |
10 | Book of Steel - Compatibility Edition | For use with the above two, fixes up the plugin related things and adds a few more good textures. | ||
11 | ADAM Reborn | Has options to install new content in the installer, you'd want to skip that if you're only wanting to use this for the textures. | This is what you should use (if you want a retext for this) instead of the original, buggy, ADAM. | I'd actually been using a tweaked version of an outdated version of this and yeah that was junk, this is good. |
12 | Wasteland clothing Hires retexture | Grab the main file, and the powder gang fix, and then hide the meshes folder in MO. | *Gotta update this with more instructions since there's at least one bad normal map that needs deleting | These are honestly hit or miss. The male versions of some had more work into the female versions of some, which sometimes were only (badly) upscaled. Most of this is upscaled with a fabric texture overlay, and maybe things like buttons or zippers added in hi-res. Sometimes this makes them look inconsistent. Really all we have. Have single-subject armor retexes overwrite this (though compare first if I'm not listing it here). |
13 | HR Armored Vault 13 Jumpsuit | Overwrite Wasteland Clothing Hires Retex's version. | I apparently thought this looked worse for a while. The details in the wear are of course different-looking. | |
14 | PM's HD Ranger Outfits | (Sorry Darziak) | ||
15 | PM's HD Legion Overhaul | (Sorry Aptom) The absolute best. Even comes with a retex for the Wild Wasteland graffiti, so let this overwrite my mediocre upscaled version of that. (Rearranged the order of texture mods to reflect this.) | ||
16 | Textures Over Time | Grab FlagStoneWalls, HH_Sandstone, and Sandbags | The walls at Camp McCarran? Flagstone. It says it right in the file name. Google it. You basically stack up flat rocks. I've yet to see another texture mod that has it as actual flagstone and not, say, bricks. Call me if you find one. Also, I'm still comparing textures, of course. But those three packs I'm pretty sure of, and I'm not just copying F&L. | |
17 | Vanilla Loading Screens HD | Same upscaling concept as above (I may have stolen the idea) | Looks really nice. I believe we used different downsampling methods. | |
18 | Hectrol Tumbleweed Deluxe HighRes Retex | Grab the main file, and then go back to Collision Meshes and grab the fix. | ||
19 | High Res Vanilla Water Bottle Textures and Meshes | Totally not biased in adding this. | ||
20 | Securitron Hires retexture | 2k or 4k | Securitron texture | Honestly better than the ones from those huge texture packs. A 16MB normal map is a bit much though, would benefit from being downsized if you have the resources to do so. (Downsized in an editor, NOT run through a texture optimizer.) |
21 | Minimod - High Reolution Newspapers | (There's a black and white edit linked in Viva New Vegas) | Kinda feel like these should be in black and white though. | |
22 | Cleaver and Chopper Retexture | Have this overwrite HD One Hand Melee | ||
23 | Worn-Out Scope Crosshair Replacers | |||
24 | Glowing Star Bottle Cap | |||
25 | Jokerine's textures | Bulletin boards, Westside craftsman windows, pinyon nuts, iguana on a stick, caravan lunch fixed UV, potatoes, and the hula girl are superior or not covered by other texture packs for sure. | ||
26 | Retextured Playing Cards | 512x512 grimy variant is recommended, along with the fix. | It's just the little things, really. |
A | B | C | D | |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | This is a combination of stuff I haven't tested, and stuff I have tested but aren't sure if I'd actually want it in the guide itself. Or stuff that I think is cool but know I wouldn't include it in the guide. Messy, and I don't really distinguish between the two, sorry. | |||
2 | Link | Technical Notes | Description-ish | Comment-ish |
3 | Uncut Wasteland | Restores stuff Obsidian patched out of the game after release, mostly for console performance reasons. | ||
4 | Spice of Life - Variety Armor and Clothing | Jokerine's patch for vanilla bodies, half way down the page, just ctrl+f | wider variety of clothing made from mashed up vanilla assets | Has transparency issues with ENB for some strange reason. |
5 | Asurah Reanimation Pack | Would be nice if it got updates to work better with WMIM. | ||
6 | Cover Based Stealth Mechanics | Again, need to test. | I don't even really know how stealth works in this game, I just can never sneak. | |
7 | JIP Realistic Weapon Overheating | Don't currently use this, but some people might like it. | ||
8 | Dynamic Pipboy Light | Allows you to adjust the color and radius and the like of your light through MCM. | ||
9 | JIP MiniMap | Not really something I'd consider for the guide proper, but it looks neat. | ||
10 | Mojave Wildlife | And Mojave Raiders | Non-save-corrupt-y IWS, in a nutshell. | Will probably recommend one of the two vanilla versions for the sake of this guide. Of course the problem with hand-placed spawns is mods that add things to those spots. Hard to spot this in xEdit, and cell view in the GECK is painful even with the power up. |
11 | Motion Sickness Destroyer | So I'm super sensitive to motion related things, to the point where I basically can't play in 1st person. IMODs aren't too bad for me, but I can empathize with those who can't handle them. | ||
12 | Jamming Fix and Optional Tweaks | Fixes automatic weapon jamming and adds lets you adjust jamming | I don't use automatic weapons. | |
13 | DiaMoveNVSE | Diagonal Movement but as an NVSE plugin instead of an ESP | ||
14 | Retrievable Throwables | Trapping NPCs with this looks fun | ||
15 | Muzzleflash Control | Toggle muzzleflash on silenced weapons | ||

1 | Hoping to have a section that has actual information on how best to do things, but I might need an entirely different format for that. | |||||||||
2 | Bullet points for now, I guess? | |||||||||
3 | ||||||||||
4 | ALWAYS READ DESCRIPTIONS | People don't always read. If you're reading this, I hope you're also the type to read mod descriptions and any comments from the author, and any readme files the mod may come with. | ||||||||
5 | Use Mod Organizer 2 | It works great for NV now, and has a lot of new profile-specific ways of setting things up. | ||||||||
6 | Do not use Nexus Mod Manager | Recently it has stopped being able to install some really important types of mods completely. It is decent-ish if you install literally everything manually and use it just to activate plugins, but at that point FOMM is still better. | ||||||||
7 | Check for mod updates every so often | In MO/2 you can right click in your mod list, go to "All Mods" and "Check all for update". You can then right click on the ones filtered and "Visit on Nexus". The <Update> category won't automatically update itself because that would cause server strain and such. But unless you obsessively check the Nexus, you might not otherwise know what mods suddenly got an update. You then would want to check the logs tab (on the Nexus) to see what changed (though mod authors will sometimes put the changelog in the description or as a pinned comment). | ||||||||
8 | LOOT works fine but shouldn't be relied on with nothing else | LOOT is best used in combination with xEdit to check to see if it's correct, and then adding custom rules in LOOT for anything that needs fixing. If you're learning how to do it manually and the game is crashing, it's fine to see if LOOT's load order works. | ||||||||
9 | DON'T "clean" official DLC | YUP already fixes any problems "dirty" edits in the DLC would cause. Only clean mod files if the author themselves says to, or if you notice there is a copy of every script in the game in it, because someone hit "recompile all" in the GECK, which can cause major issues. | ||||||||

13 | Q/A | |||||||||
14 | "Does WMX work with this guide, and why isn't it on the list?" | It works but needs a patch for YUP. And because it's a pain in the ass to patch, and I consider it a "content" mod. I personally use it, but to get it to work with, say, EVE and this guide you need a ton of patches, and the YUP patches for these both separate and combined seem to have incorrect info. | ||||||||
15 | "Aside from Simple Street Lights, are there any other problems with mods in this guide?" (English wasn't their first language, so I'm assuming this is what they were asking.) | Just updated the guide with this info. NVSR can cause crashes with the Win10 Fall Creators Update. FNVLODGen doesn't work well with NMC. Unofficial Patch Plus has some trade-offs in the fixes. | ||||||||

1 | Note: Just the core, and excluding the things I think are dumb. If I think it's dumb, no offense, but it's just not going to count towards the total % replaced. Also I've been burned out, please let me know if any of these have issues, or if I missed a better version. Also let me know if there are any alternatives for other sections of the rest of PN that are superior to PN's version, past "it isn't bundled with PN". | ||||
2 | Component | Option A | Option B | Option C | Notes |
3 | Dynamic Crosshair | DFB - Dynamic Crosshair | Dynamic Crosshair NV | Just Dynamic Crosshair | First one is just ripped from PN, may have issues with not actually working. Haven't tested Option B, which was ported from FO3. |
4 | Bullet Time | Just Bullet Time | VATS Alternative | ||
5 | Sprint | Just Vanilla Sprint | Sprint Mod | Dbp's Sprint Mod | |
6 | Grenade Hotkey | B42 Quickthrow | Quick Grenade Hotkey | ||
7 | Variable Zoom | Zooming Scope | |||
8 | Slower Backpedaling | Slower Backpedaling | Slower Backpedaling (NVSE) | Need to test former, latter is an option in MCM | |
9 | Visor Overlays | Helmet Overlay | Finally a standalone overlay mod | ||
10 | Immersive Health Visuals | Immersive Health Visuals | Old School HP Damage Visuals (?) (Different but looks neat) | Haven't tested, need someone who doesn't get a headache from this sort of thing, lol. | |
11 | Enhanced Stealth Field | Cover Based Stealth Mechanics | Cover Based Stealth has optional stealth boy toggling, MCM settings | ||
12 | Enhanced Vision Modes | Toggle-able Enhanced Vision - Night Vision | Project Nevada - Enhanced Vision | ||
13 | Explosive Entry | Simple Explosive Entry | |||
14 | Immersive Primary Needs | Visual Effects (visual version of the concept, I guess?) | Project Nevada - Immersive Primary Needs | Not having this is more immersive, seriously. | |
15 | Control Panel | N/A | Most of these mods already have an MCM menu. | ||
16 | Inventory Sorter | Universal Item Sorter | There's an INI where you can add prefixes to more things, or change them. | ||
17 | Chargeable Weapons | These literally do not even work in Project Nevada. Charging a weapon in PN doesn't add any damage. | |||
18 | Headshots | JIP LN NVSE | This didn't work in PN either. JIP's INI now has an "bLocalizedDTDR" option (needs bIgnoreDTDRFix active) which makes the game distinguish between head armor and body armor. | ||
19 | Unfound Loot | Unfound Loot | THE problem feature of Extra Options that directly causes save bloat and reduces your FPS over time. | ||
20 | Cyberware | Cyberware 2281 | |||
21 | |||||
22 | Rebalance | JSUE | Limitless Stats | Two separate things, but combined with the AI stuff from the base guide, these two cover most of this. Shouldn't be hard to find individual mods for specific tweaks, I'm just not going to list a mod for every single bullet point. | |
23 | BLEED | Vicious Wastes | BLEED rebalances combat, Vicious Wastes rebalances basically everything involving balance including perks | ||
24 | Weapons | Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration | Most of PN's weapons are taken straight from old FO3 files. A chunk of the rest are from Classic Fallout Weapons, which breaks leveled lists and has broken meshes. | ||
25 | |||||
26 | |||||
27 | The harder sneaking thing in PN is broken, it uses a script function (GetSecondsPassed) that doesn't function when it's an effect script, so the effect is never dispelled and keeps stacking. - Paraphrased from Roy | ||||

29 | Headshot monitor also doesn't work. |

---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Okay, so a handful of these are subjective, others are objective. Others still will be a combination of both. Like FCO would be both. Objective would be "there are bad file paths", subjective would be "the eyes look dead". | Apologies for rants and strong opinions. Some of the stronger opinions wouldn't end up on this list anyway due to the point of this, even if it was my favorite mod ever. | ||
2 | "Other mods with issues" is now at the bottom. | (Some of these are just "this other option works a bit better") | ||
3 | I want: | DON'T Use: | Instead Consider: | But Why?: |
4 | a mod manager | NMM | Mod Organizer 2 | Ignore anyone who says "works on my machine" sorts of stuff. NMM will, at seemingly random (and at some very specific times) completely fail to download a mod, or install a mod. Want to uninstall that texture mod? You'll have to wait for it to remove all the files. With MO2, you uncheck the box, the files don't move, but the game doesn't see them anymore. It's much easier to do that whole "mod managing" thing. (Updated this because MO2 has surpassed MO1. If you're using MO1 there's really no reason not to upgrade, you can even drag and drop your profiles.) |
5 | a face overhaul | Fallout Character Overhaul | NVCE | Dead eyes. Broken file paths meaning pink faces. The fact the bug fix patch is on another page because someone else had to do it. Doesn't change NPCs in DLC. Anyone it doesn't change stands out really really badly. |
6 | a different face overhaul | New Vegas Redesigned 3 | NVCE, or NVR2 | Uses FCO as the base. Adds lots of nudity, female corpses usually have torn clothing. It puts unbroken, sobbing slaves in the middle of Fortification Hill, aka a military camp. NVR2 apparently doesn't do those particular things. |
7 | a better UI | MTUI | DarNified or Vanilla UI Plus | Really really old, obsolete. Use DarN if you want tiny text, VUI+ if you want it to look good and give you control of menus with your keyboard. |
8 | higher resolution weapon textures | Weapon Rexture Project | Very few of Millenia's textures are higher resolution, and they're all just redone to his preferences (which I personally dislike). All the weapons are darkened and have had basically all the wear and personality removed. A Light Shining in Darkness goes from really light to really dark, and the snakeskin grip is replaced with a mother of pearl one. Maria is just darkened with a different mother of pearl grip (with Maria herself removed). | |
9 | street lights! | ELECTRO-CITY | Simple Street Lights | Has tons of leftovers from a scrapped quest that look really jarring. Also has bad broken LOD, and is known to cause crashing. SSL adds lights and only adds lights. Be sure to use my bug fix patch though. It benefits from being cleaned in xEdit. |
10 | more companions following me | Unlimited Companions | JIP CC&C | This is so outdated it uses a version of the companion script from before the game got the last official update. The update for it doesn't forward YUP's fixes. JIP's does so much more and doesn't touch a single existing record in the game to do what it does. |
11 | a handheld pip-boy | Official Pipboy Readius | Pip-Boy 2501 | Old and outdated, I hear so many problems with it. The fixes for TTW don't actually work the majority of the time. And I generally don't trust mods that do complex things that were made and then never updated when NVSE was brand new. Also doesn't fit thematically in the setting in the slightest. |
12 | something to make my UI mods work together | uHUD | UIO | Mod author specifically moved over to UIO. |
13 | a complete bug fix pack | MMUE | YUP | MMUE is never going to get another update. It conflicts with YUP, and you can only have one or the other, and YUP is still getting updates. |
14 | to get rid of that dumb orange tint | Fellout | Clarity - An Orange Tint Remover | Personal choice. Fellout makes nights dark automatically, Clarity has an optional thing. Keep in mind that literally any weather mod you grab will do this. Something like Clarity or Fellout are just going to not work and be redundant. |
15 | better Legion armor textures | Caesars New Regime | Settling for that one retex, waiting for PM's. | I'm disgusted by the hires clothing mod author's linking to CNR and citing it as reason not to make better textures for the vanilla armors. They're hideous and not lore friendly (Vulpes wearing a dog's head is specifically referenced in dialogue, for instance). |
16 | an ENB! | an ENB | Not using an ENB | ENBs require you to turn off hardware AA, and force you to use shitty post processing methods if you don't want jaggies. 90% of the effects (DOF, chromatic aberration) work to obscure the jaggies. So generally they look like crap because they're trying to cover up it making the game look like crap. DSR x2 works alright-ish for AA if your computer can do that, but things like Vurt's trees are going to look like crap, and even with transparency fixes it'll make Spice Of Life's backpacks go transparent at times. |
17 | tacticool recon stuff | Advanced Recon | Having better taste, or admitting you want to turn NV into a tacticool game. | The night vision in ranger helmets is one thing. Trap detection, 'target acquisition', and 'scanners' are another. |
18 | a complete overhaul | FOOK, NVEC | not using objectively the worst type of mod on the Nexus | "All in one" mods are horrible, especially the ones that have a ton of bug fixes that will then conflict with YUP's. Get a bug fix mod, get a mod that adds weapons, one that adds armors, a balance one, one with new perks, quests, locations, whatever, but never one that combines more than maybe two or three. New quest+location+perk+weapon+armor makes sense if the mod was made specifically to be like a DLC sized new location mod. Those just come with the territory. Weapons+armor make logical sense, as do quests+locations. If the documentation seems really badly done and impossible to do better without doing tabs or something, it probably isn't a good mod. *Extra info: NVEC on its own caused crashes for me, and it has that outdated, save corrupting/bloating version of the burning campfire mod. While it has updated bug fixes for NVB, it's got outdated versions of a ton of other stuff like EVE, which had updates for things like lag when things explode. And just generally is very broken and will mess things up. |
19 | a mini-overhaul that adds lots of little things | MMUE+ | Yukichigai Gameplay Tweaks (or making your own merge of some) | MMUE+ is nice to look at to get ideas of mini mods you can grab. Maybe if it didn't include 80% of the New Vegas Uncut series (meaning you can't use the patches for the individual ones), maybe I'd consider it. But even then, YUP Gameplay Tweaks just has a better selection of generally unobtrusive mods, and better implementation for some of them. |
20 | drivable cars | XRE - CARS | Umatt's Drivable Cars | I still don't think the landscape is suited to it, but if you're going to use a silly mod, you might as well use a silly mod that's still actively being worked on, I guess. |
21 | something to help with crashing | Zan AutoPurge Crash Protector | NVAC, and then the INI edit on the TTW tweak guide thing. | While Zan has always worked fine for me, it's main function isn't safe, really. |
22 | archive invalidation | ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated | Using MO, going to profiles, and checking the "automatic archive invalidation" box | You should be using MO anyway, and even if you aren't, I'm pretty sure literally every mod manager now features automatic archive invalidation. |
23 | better performance | Any mod that literally has "performance" in the name, that isn't an optimized version of an existing mod | Actually fixing the source of your performance problems. | Stop using 4K textures, bloated ENBs, mods that add unoptimized areas or too many NPCs (rePOPULATED WASTELAND counts for both) if you're having performance issues. Better Performance v5 specifically doesn't do anything that would increase performance, and can actually mess things up if a mod decides it wants to use something it disabled. |
24 | an inventory sorter | "Inventory Sorters", the stuff included in things like PN and NVEC | Universal Item Sorter | Again, the power of scripts, it'll adjust to any mod added item, no patches needed, no fuckhuge mods attached. |
25 | an overhaul that everyone seems to have literal money invested in they push it so hard | Project Nevada | thinking about what you want from it | Is some feature of it covered in my list? If so, it works better. Implants, see the Advanced Recon. Weapons, consider any weapon pack that only adds weapons. JSUE has a sprint key along with the rebalance, and while it has fewer config options, it doesn't give you too many to make use of. Like if you can properly use all of PN's balance settings, you've probably already made your own rebalance mod. A better grenade hotkey mod has been made. |
26 | a mod that fixes a single problem | Reload Speed Game Start Fix, Reload Animation Fix, Explosives Immunity Fix, water consumed stat fix, ect | Checking the changelog of UP+ and YUP, and maybe google the name of the mod to see if anything else incorporates it. Only once in awhile will the original mod say it's been incorporated into a bug fix mod. | Do you really want more plugins when FNV starts messing up around 130? Sometimes the versions included in bug fix packs are redone better, too. Things like thing doing things faster (VATS, pipboy, running) can be adjusted in the menu while building a bashed patch. |
27 | high-res textures aside from NMC/OJO/ect, like armor | Hall of Equipment | Realize that upscaled and sharpened textures look worse than the original low-res textures. | Also, finally got around to checking this, but Hall of Equipment also keeps vanilla bugs, like backwards numbers on vault suits that were fixed by YUP. Kinda like they just ran everything through a batch converter. |
28 | Weather (precipitation) | Project Reality | The newer Nevada Skies maybe? | Badly scripted, can cause major problems and major performance issues. |
29 | That Fallout 4 Loot Menu thing | Fallout 4 Quickloot | Loot Menu | Quickloot isn't being fixed and is awfully broken. Loot Menu only has a handful of problems with other mods, but they're actively being fixed still. |
30 | ||||
31 | Other mods with issues: | Figured I might as well add this section, for things that would just be stupid in the other format. | Feel free to message me on the nexus with mods you aren't sure have problems on their own or if it's something else and I can make an attempt to check. | |
32 | ||||
33 | Mod: | Problem: | ||
34 | TGs Armor Collection for New Vegas | Bad file paths, a corrupted texture, various mesh related errors, unoptimized things like the ghillie suit. | ||
35 | Increased Wasteland Spawns | Can cause save corruption at worst, performance problems at best. It uses PlaceAtMe for the scripts, and each time that happens, the NPC placed gets put into the save file, leading to bloat and corruption with time. (Never use PlaceAtMe if you do scripting.) | ||
36 | Project Nevada Extra Options | Unfound Loot feature creates a list that then slows down overall frame rate as it gets longer and longer. | ||
37 | New Vegas Landscape Overhaul | Deletes LOD which then causes crashes. Also has bad navmesh and generally causes crashes even with NVAC. Mod author knows this and still keeps it uploaded. | ||
38 | Leave Conversation | Can completely break the game if you close out of dialogue that has anything to do with a quest, especially if it's flagged as 'say once' and will never be repeated. | ||
39 | Charge's FNV HD Texture Packs | Everything was upscaled with an automatic tool, zero manual adjustments, zero cleaning, zero quality control. He upscaled everything, even things that shouldn't be upscaled like glow maps (which are usually perfectly solid black and white). Vast majority look worse than vanilla. Upscale quality can be directly compared to Photoshop's Preserve Details 2.0. | ||
40 | Classic Fallout Weapons | Meshes are broken, leveled lists are broken, and will break all the game's leveled lists. It specifically puts lists and weapons together in the same lists, which makes the game ignore everything but the lists within the lists. |

1 | 7-11-2021 | Yeah, sorry, gave up. Use Viva New Vegas instead. |
2 | 2-20-2021 | Removed Unnecessary Physics due to it causing save bloat. Trying to add more "this is in Stewie's Tweaks" notes. Fixed links and stuff in Replacing PN. |
3 | 2-12-2021 | Added heap replacer finally, and Scripted Ammo Fix. Also made a small edit to future-proof the instructions for xNVSE. |
4 | 8-29-2020 | Removed Reactivated Hit Topics because the functionality is now in JIP LN NVSE. Smooth True Iron Sights is now in Stewie's Tweaks. Removed Mojave Arsenal from Considerations. |
5 | 8-16-2020 | Added Classic Fallout Weapons in To Avoid, as details on how it is broken were disclosed |
6 | 8-9-2020 | How 'bout that pandemic, huh? Added Casino Exchange All because I always ignored it because I didn't get what it did because I don't actually gamble because my OC Donut Steel has exactly 1 luck. Deleted the TTW Mini-List and the attempt at the Stewie's Tweaks thingy. They weren't going to work out, I'm going ot have to use a new sheet or a new format or something. |
7 | 6-30-2020 | Removed Unnecessary Tweaks because Stewie's Tweaks added the features from it. Still don't know how to handle Stewie's Tweaks in this guide. Updated Consistent Pip-Boy Icons info. Removed "Fallout New Vegas with 1 extra month of dev time" from considerations since it's gone. Removed Misc Item Icons - Compatibility Edition because it seems to be gone despite mentioning moddb. Added a note to Wasteland Clothing hires since I noticed a texture issue with one of the raider armors. Updated Just Mods Merged/Just Mods Assorted link in TTW Mini-List. Started a page for recommended tweaks in Stewie's Tweaks to activate. This will probably drive me insane. |
8 | 6-6-2020 | Moved the Mod Limit Fix further up in the list, added Smooth True Iron Sights Camera. |
9 | 6-2-2020 | Updated NVSE link to the new maintained version. |
10 | 5-21-2020 | Removed the AI mods. Will have to figure out a better combination of mods for improved combat, for those who like that sort of thing. |
11 | 5-5-2020 | Added Project Nevada - Enhanced Vision to Replacing PN |
12 | 4-21-2020 | Added FNV Mod Limit Fix, Cyberware 2281 to Replacing PN, updated a few description thingys. I recently lost my entire modding setup so please feel free to send me information I'm missing, or if I missed a potential mod to include. Switched the link from Viva New Vegas to the Reddit Community Pre-Modding Guide, as both Qolore and I worked on it. Added Project Nevada - Immersive Primary Needs. Still think it's jarring and yanks you out of the game and is therefore the opposite of immersive, but okay. |
13 | 2-28-2020 | Going to add the reuploaded redone Nevada Skies eventually to the considerations list. Added a temporary thingy about Unnecessary Tweaks until Stewie finishes adding the functions from it. |
14 | 2-16-2020 | Added an extra note to why not to use Nevada Skies, until someone informs me that the problem mesh has been fixed. Especially since the mod author who remade it took their version down after throwing a fit. |
15 | 1-10-2020 | Removed the placed skeleton thing for Ragdolls, added information about mods that have functionality in Stewie's Tweaks since I'm not ready to overhaul a huge chunk of the guide with it. Removed Better Posture due to incompatibilities. Added a note about the people over in VNV having a black and white version of that newspaper mod. Cleared out things in Stewie's Tweaks that are in the Considerations tab. Removed FPS Hold Breath from Considerations, redundant. Nevermind, just added Stewie's Tweaks to the main page. There will be a new tab in the far far future with information on the settings. Added FNV Occlusion Overhaul. |
16 | 12-31-2019 | Swapped out Just Mods Merged for Just Mods Assorted |
17 | 12-21-2019 | Added Pipboy Remover Redux to Considerations. Related to that tab, I'd totally offer something in exchange for someone else reorganizing this mess. Dunno what. Edited details about PN EO and NV Landscape Overhaul Remastered in To Avoid. Added Charge's FNV HD Texture Packs to To Avoid. |
18 | 12-20-2019 | Removed Unofficial Patch Plus to simplify things, plus the one feature I still liked was added to Stewie's Tweaks. Removed Dynavision for NVR's DoF and such. |
19 | 11-23-2019 | Replaced NCR Civillian Clothing with PM's HD Ranger Outfits |
20 | 11-16-2019 | Added Helmet Overlay to Replacing PN, in place of the visor overlays. |
21 | 11-11-2019 | Added a link to JohnnyGuitar NVSE because no one told me I forgot to insert a link. Updated the Unnecessary Tweaks link because I kinda forgot it was a thing and no one told me they moved it to github. |
22 | 10-18-2019 | Added Unfound Loot to Replacing PN. What's even left for replacing it? Implants, visor overlays... To note I'm still currently focused on TTW, and even then I'm kinda burned out overall and playing random other games. Added PM's HD Legion Overhaul before I forget. |
23 | 8-17-2019 | Replaced A Decent Metro Map with Pintocat's Metro Map Replacer in the TTW Mini-List. Briefly cried over the idea of restructuring this guide to better fit Stewie's tweaks because it just covers such a broad range. |
24 | 7-13-2019 | Replaced Better Pickup Prompt with the one included in Unnecessary Tweaks. Replaced "Just" mods with Just Mods Merged. Added a mention of lStewieAl's Tweaks having a save autosave feature. Added JohnnyGuitar NVSE. Will pay someone $5 USD to clean up this guide for these new merges. Pls? I'm trying to take a hiatus. |
25 | 7-9-2019 | Changed the name for Vanilla Sprint, added a little bit of an actual description. |
26 | 7-4-2019 | Redirected Deselect Quests link to Deselect Quests NVSE, same with Vanilla Sprint |
27 | 6-26-2019 | Added some more stuff to considerations. On some vague sort of hiatus or I'd have tested them alread. Added Uncut Wasteland to the top of Considerations, simply because I don't have any idea what tab to put it on. Added Rapid Reload Speed Fix (NVSE) to Base & Fixes. |
28 | 5-31-2019 | Replaced Better Saves with SafeAutoSave in the TTW Mini-List. |
29 | 5-28-2019 | Removed the mention of CASM until it's fixed. |
30 | 5-19-2019 | Added Simple Explosive Entry to the Replacing PN tab. |
31 | 5-14-2019 | Ah ha! I waited, and it was finally handed over and reuploaded. Changed the name and link for Vanilla Sprint to C16's Vanilla Sprint. Added it to the Mechanics section, too. |
32 | 5-5-2019 | Added Leave Conversation to To Avoid. Had previously forgotten what it was called. |
33 | 5-4-2019 | Replaced Better Saves with SafeAutoSave. Added details about Increased Wasteland Spawns using PlaceAtMe (the source of the issues with that mod) to To Avoid. |
34 | 5-1-2019 | Removed the New Vegas Stutter Remover for good after getting confirmation of some bugs. |
35 | 4-27-2019 | Removed Sortomatic from "To Avoid" since it doesn't look like anyone plans on making a better version with newer scripting functions, and it works decently enough, it's just annoying. Removed KeyBoy. |
36 | 4-26-2019 | Added a note about NVTF's bFastResolution setting. |
37 | 4-20-2019 | Started a little mini modding guide for TTW specifically, since I'm playing that now. So many wonderful bug fixes, even more on the way... Removed Empty Weapons NVSE and Manual Reload NVSE from Considerations since they're in lStewieAl's Tweaks, removed duplicate Inventory Search, removed WFO until Vurt has made LOD, |
38 | 3-29-2019 | Re-added FOV Slider because I forgot I had removed it. |
39 | 3-27-2019 | Added B42 Quickthrow to replacing PN, removed the two older grenade key mods |
40 | 3-22-2019 | Switched out JSUE for Slower Backpedaling (NVSE) as Option B for replacing the feature in PN, though I figure it's better than Option A, so eventually I'll consider if I want A B and C to reflect some sort of ranking. |
41 | 3-21-2019 | Added an option C column to Replacing PN. Added Just Dynamic Crosshair as a crosshair option. Realized I added Vanilla Sprint at some point but forgot to note it. Added Dbp's Sprint Mod to fill the 3rd column. Added Grenade Key and Grenade Hotkey to fill out options for that, too. I don't use grenades really so I haven't exactly tested any of those. At this point I'm going to have to rework that entire tab to be able to have information for each option but that'll happen in the future (tm), though at this rate I feel like I need to just use an entirely different format for this entire thing. |
42 | 2-10-2019 | Added like 10 new mods to "considerations", playing catch-up. Haven't exactly had the time or energy to test things, haven't been playing any video games at all recently really. Also been keeping an eye on TTW 3.2, all those bug fixes... Might add a flag to mods that work with it. |
43 | 1-27-2019 | Updated Electro-City info for why you shouldn't use it. |
44 | 1-16-2019 | Adjusted some opinions/details in "To Avoid", switched the Pip-Boy 2500 to the very nice 2501. |
45 | 1-14-2019 | Added Inventory Search to UI, adjusted info for KeyBoy, added Universal Headwear DT Boost to Mechanics, added Jamming Fix and Optional Tweaks to considerations, replaced Simple Saves with Better Saves, adjusted info for Collision Meshes, |
46 | 1-1-2019 | Happy New Year! Updated my information about Mod Organizer in To Avoid, when MO2 passed MO1 I forgot to remove my note that said MO2 wasn't ready for use with FNV yet. Removed the note about the head bob in Asurah's in the Considerations tab, as there is a patch for that now. |
47 | 12-27-2018 | Added info about CFW being broken to the Replacing PN section for weapons. |
48 | 12-23-2018 | Went and added the BSA Decompressor and Ogg Vorbis Libraries. Also changed around links to the TTW FAQ for the FalloutCustom.ini stuff. Had to add more stuff manually since TTW now does a lot of stuff for you. |
49 | 12-21-2018 | Replaced New Vegas Character Expansions with Character Expansions Revised, because I haven't liked NVCE in a rather long time. |
50 | 12-20-2018 | Removed Gate Sound Fix since YUP updated to include it. |
51 | 12-10-2018 | Added info on WRP working with WMIM now. I still don't care for the weapons all being darkened, and take personal offense to the changes made to ALSID. (/s but I really do not care for it anyway.) |
52 | 12-2-2018 | Removed the VUI+/VHR patch again. ...hopefully that's the last time. |
53 | 11-21-2018 | Removed Precision Collision due to new information about Havok padding, which also happens to lower CPU usage. |
54 | 11-17-2018 | Added JIP LN NVSE's update with the localized DT/DR option as a replacement for a feature of Project Nevada that literally never worked. Removed weapon texture mods due to new information. If the player is holding a weapon, first or third person, it's going to be using the higher resolution version of the texture, and the way the game loads the textures means that giving NPCs higher resolution textures will cause performance issues if there's a bunch of them. |
55 | 11-12-2018 | Removed Solid Project as an alternative for dynamic crosshairs until I figure out why it isn't working. |
56 | 11-11-2018 | Removed Dynamic Quanity Prompt as it seems to be an optional feature in JIP LN NVSE's settings now. |
57 | 11-10-2018 | Added Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration to Replacing PN. If someone has details on CFW's bugs, that would be the other huge chunk of the gear. |
58 | 11-9-2018 | Added Manual Reload NVSE to Considerations. Need to rework that tab, or rework everything, maybe a STEP-style "core" with other optional mods, except everything techincally is optional at the moment. Solid Project updated. Need to actually standardize how I'll actually be noting updates. Added High Res Vanilla Water Bottle Textures and Meshes to Textures. |
59 | 11-5-2018 | Re-added Vanilla UI Plus Remastered Patch. Updated the 4GB Patcher info involving the GOG version. |
60 | 10-31-2018 | Added Gate Sound Fix |
61 | 10-28-2018 | Removed unnecessary UI patch. Vanilla UI Plus and JIP LN NVSE have updated. Realized that I'd been doing that thing where I note when a mod was last updated; contemplating either stopping that, or stopping noting updates in the changelog. |
62 | 10-27-2018 | Removed Gas Masks of the World from the list of mods I've found problems with. Just taking the update at its word. |
63 | 10-25-2018 | Moved Simple Saves to Mechanics. |
64 | 10-23-2018 | YUP updated. I am now named in the changelog. This is a big deal. Cleaning up the main page, changing F&L references to point to Qolore's guide. Removed No More Trippin' because the bear trap features were too much. Reworked the info on cleaning plugins in the General Info, hopefully to prevent people from breaking their mods, while still warning about that recompile all mistake I've seen too many people do while making their mod. Considering removing Burning Campfire (too many lines for something rather pointless) and Alternative Repairing; need feedback on the aiming, reload, and recoil mods, as I've stopped using them. Shortened tab names. Added information about patching Semitransparent Doors for YUP. |
65 | 10-18-2018 | Reordered some minor stuff. |
66 | 10-14-2018 | JIP LN updated with a new optional fix for weapons that fire multiple projectiles causing lag and FPS drops. Added ADAM Reborn, which also just updated. Added a note to the Legion textures about PM's stuff, and did a little rephrasing that didn't change any meanings. |
67 | 10-10-2018 | Removed Improved Automatic Ironsight Animations because WMIM replaces the same file. |
68 | 10-7-2018 | Added Motion Sickness Destroyer to Untested/Considerations, which needs a new name. "Other Stuff You May Be Looking For" seems a bit long. |
69 | 10-2-2018 | Added the ported FO3 Dynamic Crosshair mod as a suggestion in Replacing PN. Haven't tested it yet, but no bug reports (on either page for it) so far. |
70 | 9-18-2018 | Updated the TTW Performance Guide link. |
71 | 9-7-2018 | Added New Vegas Landscape Overhaul to the "other mods with issues" bit of that one tab after quickly singling out the fact it deletes LOD as the cause of someone's crashes. I've identified it as such in the past but didn't think to add it. |
72 | 9-5-2018 | Updated my "What NOT To Use" entry for Unlimited Companions. Thanks to a friend of mine and morbid curiosity as I was forwarding some of YUP's fixes to another mod. |
73 | 8-29-2018 | Added Cover Based Stealth Mechanics to Replacing PN for Enhanced Stealth Field |
74 | 8-26-2018 | Vanilla UI Plus updated (the other day). |
75 | 8-24-2018 | Added a note about the UI thing with Quick Grenade Hotkey. Removed FOV Slider until whatever that issue is is fixed. Adjusted note about the dynamic crosshair. Added Vanilla UI Plus Remastered Patch. |
76 | 8-23-2018 | Changed my notes on JSUE, moved it towards the bottom. Removed the rebreather thing, sound is annoying. Changed notes on DT/DR. I personally no longer use the Aiming/Recoil/Reload mods (and I'm not completely sure why), so any feedback on those from people who know more about shooting mechanics would be great. Changed notes on why you shouldn't use an ENB to note that DSR can work alright(ish) and that it causes problems with things like Vurt's and Spice of Life regardless of transparency fixes. Added "waiting for PM's retex" as something to use instead of CNR. Considering removing the melee weapon retexes, added the hd world view textures. Added the Armored Vault 13 Jumpsuit retex. Added Throwable Weapon Fixes for the time being. Parts might be added to WMIM. Also changed all mentions of WMIM to say "WMIM". Did some formatting and spelling fixes. |
77 | 8-19-2018 | Added a fix for Burning Campfire REDONE that fixes being able to double up on the fire and such. Unofficial Patch Plus has been updated to have gameplay tweaks separate and optional. |
78 | 8-14-2018 | Added a note about bashing Enhanced Grass, so I can FINALLY just overwrite those dumb zeroed out object bounds and never have to look at them again and think "oh I should probably keep it as-is so I remember when making a guide to what needs to be manually fixed if you make a bashed patch with these mods". So there. Added WRP to "what not to use", as the changes are crap, only a small handful of textures are higher resolution, you need to have patches for the ones with new meshes, and the textures are just darker versions with the wear removed. |
79 | 8-13-2018 | JIP LN NVSE updated with bug fixes. (Twice.) |
80 | 8-12-2018 | Added Burning Campfire REDONE - Honest Hearts Patch. |
81 | 8-8-2018 | Removed the Lucky 38 Climate thing because most of you are going to be using some sort of weather and/or lighting mod, and it looks dumb and washed out in comparison, and requires manually adding it to your bashed patch. If I ever get formatting figured out, I'll make a "things that are kinda neat that don't break your game" tab, or something. |
82 | 8-5-2018 | Removed Ammo Effect Fixes as it's now at least partially included in Unofficial Patch Plus (which updated with that, some optimizations, and toggles for some things you might not want to have it change). Consistent Pip-Boy Icons also updated with some improvements and more patches for other mods that add new icons. |
83 | 8-3-2018 | FOV Slider updated with a bug fix. Added Unofficial Patch NVSE as an alternative to Unofficial Patch Plus. Need to take a look at it of course. |
84 | 7-27-2018 | JIP LN NVSE updated with a bugfix specific to JIP MiniMap, and can be ignored if you are not using that mod. |
85 | 7-25-2018 | JIP LN NVSE updated. Two new functions and a new optional patch that looks like it would replace Dynamic Quantity Prompt. |
86 | 7-21-2018 | Much Needed LOD updated, optimizing meshes, fixing some things, and adding more objects. |
87 | 7-14-2018 | Collision Meshes updated. |
88 | 7-12-2018 | NVCE updated with 8 named NPCs and 6 generics. Added Complete Respec (briefly), as I only just now realized the extent of what it allows, and it would be nice to see people not attempting to use "Safe Showracemenu" and having everything reset since it doesn't work at all. |
89 | 7-11-2018 | Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod updated. |
90 | 7-5-2018 | Re-added Combat Enhancer and Enemy AI Tactics. |
91 | 6-22-2018 | Updated the comments for No More Trippin and Bear Traps, because at first there had been no bear traps involved. And I was reminded about the bear trap portion in a rather painful way in Dead Money. |
92 | 6-19-2018 | Changed the last line in why not to use PN, because we've gotten that grenade hotkey mod. |
93 | 6-19-2018 | Finally tracked down the mod causing an issue that was bugging me (it was Reload Reloaded). I think I need a section for "mods that allow you to adjust things" so I don't have that as part of the "main" thing. |
94 | 6-15-2018 | Added BLEED to mechanics/tweaks as a suggestion. REALLY need to reorganize this entire thing. Maybe get a STEP template, so I can include suggestions within the same section. |
95 | 6-12-2018 | Removed navmesh fixes and improvements because navmesh is dumb and navmesh conflicts are dumber, and I was fighting a specific bug. Might re-add it if I figure out what it was conflicting with, if anything. If there was nothing else editing that area, I'll just submit a bug report. |
96 | 6-8-2018 | Had a realization while playing, and added a note to the ragdolls vanilla skeleton thing. |
97 | 6-7-2018 | Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod got some improvements, fixing some more sound, collision, UV, and generic mesh issues. Dropped the Q&A into the bottom of the General Important Info tab, trying to do some cleanup. Considering moving textures to the bottom of the visuals tab but meh. Consistent Pip-Boy Icons updated, sizing fixes, all-in-one FOMOD, and a lot of new patches. |
98 | 6-6-2018 | Dynamic Pip-Boy Light (listed in the considerations tab) was updated, something about settings and switching things around? |
99 | 6-5-2018 | Removed the throwing weapon retex because "patching" it to work right with the weapon mesh improvement mod would require a few too many steps (involving shrinking the spear textures and adding 1stperson to the name, if you understand what that involves). FNVLODGen's tree and billboard resources updated, with a new texture for creosote bushes and wasteland shrubs. |
100 | 6-4-2018 | Added a note about what version of Consistent Pip-Boy Icons to use. Said mod also updated with a patch for Complete Vault Girl Interface. |
101 | 6-3-2018 | Updated the TTW Performance Guide description with a shorter version, and added info about how the shader package thing will break detailed shadows for ENB. (As in, they simply do not appear.) |
102 | 6-2-2018 | Switched the link for pip-boy icon fixes. Decided that I'm going to include mods themselves updating in this changelog because I can. More Realistic Aiming Fixed updated with a fix for unnecessary masters. Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod updated with an optional file for lag that some people were getting involving the hunting rifle. |
103 | 5-31-2018 | Removed Securitrons in CRT because considering attempting a cleanup. Edited descriptions for ILO, RWL, securitron retex, ALR, Enhanced Terrain LOD, and text at the top of the visuals tab |
104 | 5-30-2018 | Added the weapon mesh fix and rebreather sound restoration. Contemplated a reorganization of this, but it's too much work. |
105 | 5-26-2018 | Removed the weapon repair kit fix, looks like it was added to UP+. Added the date (month and year) to YUP and UP+ for the latest update. |
106 | 5-22-2018 | Added some more info on things in PN that don't work. |
107 | 5-21-2018 | Replaced my Legion Explorer mesh fix with Fix for the Caesar Legion Armors. |
108 | 5-20-2018 | Added Roy's Weapon Repair Kit Repaired. Heh, it's funny because he repaired something that's used to repair other things... |
109 | 5-19-2018 | Beginning work on the general info guide bit thing. Dunno how to format it right now. Did some spell checking. Added notes about reading, MO2, NMM, LOOT, checking for updates, Win10, cleaning DLC, and cleaning mods. Need to learn to be more concise, did a little cleaning of the main page. |
110 | 5-15-2018 | Added "Placed Creature Corpses use Vanilla Skeletons." as a fix for the problem with Ragdolls. Removed some stuff that was just me rambling, added a note about MO2. |
111 | 5-13-2018 | Added some notes to bornagain combat armor and book of water regarding color and such. |
112 | 5-12-2018 | Changed the NVSR information to link to the TTW Performance Guide, which has a setting for fixing crashing on Windows 10 as well. And the F&L guide has a placebo setting. |
113 | 5-11-2018 | Added a note in Replacing PN about how chargeable weapons don't even do anything in PN. |
114 | 5-9-2018 | Added more information to why you shouldn't use the Pip-Boy Readius. Added some more info to the securitron retex. Finally reordered everything so new updates are at the top. Put a nice big thing at the top, too. |
115 | 5-8-2018 | Added a note to hide the meshes folder for the wasteland clothing hires retexture. The shirtless powder ganger outfit in specific seems to use a completely different body type (breeze? since it had the same with both roberts and vanilla). |
116 | 5-6-2018 | Did a bit of cleaning up of the untested tab, merged mods with issues with what not to use. Considering sorting the textures page by category. Finally decided to move the legion armor mesh fix to the bug fixes. Moved Limitless Stats to the Replacing PN tab. Moved the melee reach fixed mod to mechanics, deleted mods that aren't actually available (Uncut, YUP Tweaks). |
117 | 5-5-2018 | Added the Pip-Boy icon thing. I can't find a single reason for the Realistic Aiming Fixed mod to not have the MCM menu work while the original does, it's literally a single digit in a script difference. Okay, wait, no, wtf, renaming the damn thing fixed it? The dude broke it by renaming it. |
118 | 5-1-2018 | Trying to figure out the AI bits. Enhanced NPC Awareness is off the list. |
119 | 4-30-2018 | Added a note about combat AI range with the trio of combat mods. ...might just wait for the AI being broken in the engine problem to be fixed. |
120 | 4-29-2018 | Fixed the link to my Nexus profile, added Yukichigai's toggle-able vision mod as a possible alternative to PN's enhanced vision. |
121 | 4-26-2018 | Dropped a bunch of mods into my new "Replacing PN" tab. Please feel more than free to bring mods to my attention for this. |
122 | 4-24-2018 | Added more ENB details to what not to use, using vague terms. Basically ENBs flatten the textures. Added FNVLODGen info specific to MO2. |
123 | 4-23-2018 | Added Quick Grenade Hotkey to considerations. As I, as usual, don't seem to have the energy to test anything new. Working on it, I swear. Added PN to "other mods with issues" along with a little more detail than I had before. |
124 | 4-19-2018 | Moved Mojave Arsenal to considerations as I noticed myself uninstalling it from all my profiles because of the annoying as hell weapon drawing thing. Aside from that it's perfectly fine, but that was enough to drive me over the edge. Apparently. |
125 | 4-16-2018 | Deleted some more stuff that didn't fit from the considerations tab. |
126 | 4-10-2018 | Added Quickloot/Loot Menu to the What NOT To Use tab. Loot Menu being the one to use. |
127 | 4-9-2018 | Added Zooming Scope to considerations. Added some notes to the LOD stuff. Moved Simple Street Lights to the considerations, because man does it need work that I don't have the energy for and I'd have to basically just make it from scratch. |
128 | 4-7-2018 | Added a note about where to get a good INI for NVSR with Win10. Added Much Needed LOD and removed Limestone LOD. |
129 | 3-31-2018 | Added Precision Collision because I'd honestly just been putting that off as it's one of the few mods that needs files from another mod. Added the playing card retex. Forgot I use it. Added a side note as to why anything is better than MTUI. |
130 | 3-30-2018 | Removed some of the "what not to use" entries that were harmless. Debating the recon crap, because it's not like it's badly made, it's just dumb, and lore friendly or not, it's not thematically suited to the game. Changed some opinions to actual alternatives. Changed some phrasing because 139 is a made up number. |
131 | 3-19-2018 | Noted Dynamic Quantity Prompt getting updated. Added Faster Sleep Wait and the NMC LOD patch stuff, and Mojave Raiders next to Mojave Wildlife in the considerations tab. Formally requesting help from anyone good with google doc formatting. Would be cool if I could have things auto formatted by row and column so I don't have to keep adjusting things as I add new rows. Also if there's a way to switch the order of all of these changelog notes without having to manually move each one. |
132 | 3-14-2018 | Re-added Spice of Life to the considerations. Note that I need to find a better title for that tab, as it's both "things that look good that I've been too lazy to try" and "things I like and are good and don't really fit with the theme of this guide". |
133 | 3-9-2018 | Added Mojave Wildlife to Untested/Considerations. Deleted the B42 project mods for the time being (from that same tab) as they don't add much on their own, and there's animation weirdness with Diagonal Movement. Deleted Spice of Life until I remember where Jokerine has that vanilla version. Added Asurah Reanimation to considerations, waiting on it to be completed for now. Moved Jokerine's textures into their own row. |
134 | 3-5-2018 | Added more warnings against various saving methods |
135 | 3-1-2018 | Added High Res Vanilla Posters and Graffiti and Vanilla Loading Screens HD |
136 | 2-14-2018 | Removed AWOP from the notes for performance in 'what not to use', because from the little testing I did, it should be fine if you just follow the basic instructions there (the whole 'no 4k textures' thing and such). Did a handful of rephrasing of things. Added a note under running LOOT to never ever ever clean your DLC for ANY Bethesda game. |
137 | 2-10-2018 | Added Limitless Stats. Not strictly vanilla, but I've heard of people using PN only for being able to change leveling and such, and this is well made. |
138 | 2-8-2018 | Added my own Legion Explorer Armor Pouch and Mesh Fix mod. |
139 | 2-5-2018 | Noted RWL updating, and VATS Alternative (in the 'considerations' tab) |
140 | 2-3-2018 | Noted that github/uncut/uncut is, well, gone. Hoping Roy is planning something and not just giving up. Fixed text, and having a mod in two categories at once, thanks TTTerraIncognita. |
141 | 2-2-2018 | Added that one note about Mojave Arsenal's one real stupid bit. |
142 | 1-31-2018 | Added a note about ammo effect fixes automatically installing the caliber x patch without any prompting, thanks to xechostormx for bringing it to my attention. |
143 | 1-27-2018 | Remembered the issue with the two LOD files in LOD Additions and Improvements. |
144 | 1-26-2018 | Noted Reload Reloaded, VUI+, and FNVLODGen updating, added the restored Lucky 38 climate mod. |
145 | 1-23-2018 | Added Win10 NVSR problem info, noted that the fix is needed for MCM, and added the two questions I've gotten so far to the Q&A section. |
146 | 1-11-2018 | Changed the link to my Street Light Fix to the Nexus. Easier that way, especially if there ends up being more to fix, it'll show up as having an update. |
147 | 1-9-2018 | Added No More Trippn, updated note for the Ammo Effect Fixes mod to note that it was updated this month. |
148 | 1-8-2018 | Remembered that the Simple Streetlights download has two different plugins. You don't need both as they're both standalone, but it won't kill you to have both. Actually getting some feedback now. Added different details to VUI, and instructions to the HD UI mod. |
149 | 1-7-2018 | Bolded and rephrased the description for the 4GB patch, since it apparently needed to be said. No offense to the dude who was having crashing issues. Finished and uploaded my bugfix for Simple Street Lights. |
150 | 1-6-2018 | Sat and was pissy about that "The Ultimate Fallout: New Vegas Mod List (Updated for 2017)". It's somehow already outdated, and has several bad mods known to cause problems. And yet there's at least 10x as many people viewing that guide at any given time. I need an agent. |
151 | 1-5-2018 | Still waiting on information on that gunfire sound bug. Added details to usage of the navmesh fix mod. I'm serious about messaging me on the nexus for any reason, by the way. Really. |
152 | 1-2-2018 | Sifted through the considerations tab a little. Ran spell check. |
153 | 1-1-2018 | Happy New Year, after skimming through some mesh files and finding some broken shit within some popular mods, I made a new section for "fyi, this part is broken" sorts of info. As usual, feel free to message me with suggestions or questions or "can you see if this mod is fucked up or if my computer is just haunted". |
154 | 12-29-2017 | Updated "What NOT To Use" with some new info on Nevada Skies. |
155 | 12-23-2017 | Actually finally tested AWOP, without any texture mods, no ENBs, no other big overhaul mods, only the basic bug fixes from my guide, and yeah, it's an... interesting? concept, and aside from the fact I don't actually like playing shooters and it seems to be all "go into this area that's been set up for you to shoot stuff", it's unoptimized and causes lag in the areas it adds, while using nothing else that would cause stutter or performance hits. Then consider that most people who use AWOP will also use things like FOOK, NVEC, and Project Nevada and probably crap like NMC's large pack... But yes, stutter gives me simulator sickness, so I'm never going to "endorse" a mod that causes it. Same idea applies to mods that turn NV into cawadoody or any other game that it isn't. |
156 | 12-22-2017 | Added Limestone LOD |
157 | 12-21-2017 | Added melee reach fix mod to considerations, talked to self in comments. Considering making another tab with content mods with my sketchy "seal of approval" as in it didn't make my game crash and wasn't an insult to the brand. Autumn Leaves would be an "approved" quest mod, Spice of Life would be an armor mod, but if I got into that I'd want to include a section on body replacers and those are dumb and I don't know what tweaks Sigourn made to his "fixed" versions aside from using this one mod from LL. |
158 | 12-18-2017 | Realized I should probably change the link for Vanilla UI Plus since it moved to ModDB. Deleted the duplicate MCM entry. Added a note to JIP Improved Recipe Menu. Removed Improved Companion Sandbox because it was causing conflicts that I didn't understand and therefore couldn't figure out how to patch. Removed duplicate Throwable Weapon Fixes entry. Added an explanation as to why Hall of Equipment is crap. Edited load order info related to JSUE and UP+. |
159 | 12-13-2017 | Added an extra note to why not to use NVEC. It's got at least one bad mod added to it that can and will cause save bloat which leads to corrupted saves, and uses outdated versions of other mods. |
160 | 12-07-2017 | Forgot I merged a bunch of fixes in my own files, added Throwable Weapon Fixes. Need to look at the Legion Explorer Armor Fix, it doesn't seem to be covered by anything else which is weird. |
161 | 12-06-2017 | Made a realization about KeyBoy, updated comments to reflect that. Also typos. I keep typing "etc" instead of "etc", apparently. |
162 | 12-04-2017 | Added KeyBoy to UI section. Still wondering why I remember being able to do at least most of the functions of it, though. pt2: Updated notes on KeyBoy as I tried using it while starting a new game. |
163 | 12-03-2017 | Added more details about latest updates to mods still in active development, added another cry for hel--er, assistance. Fixed some formatting, need to figure out, like, global settings because it's supposed to all be the same "pattern" |
164 | 12-01-2017 | Added the Pip-Boy mod, Realistic Movement, and Big Guns Framework to "I haven't actually used these". Reordered the sheet tabs, because I apparently accidentally did that. |
165 | 11-29-2017 | Decided to actually track this, so previous changes are going to be ignored and we'll pretend this was the base thing. |
