Overview:
11
Strengths:Notes:
12
Press FootworkHis press footwork is impressive and consistent each and every game. His mirroring is among the best in class.
13
Single-Step PivotsHis pivots and open field movement skills in general are highly refined and efficient.
14
Recovery SpeedHe just does not get beat deep from any coverage type.
15
16
Weaknesses:Notes:
17
CushionHe often allows too much space underneath in off and zone coverage.
18
Comeback RoutesHis stickiness underneath on quick timing and comeback routes could use some work. He allows too many first downs along the sideline.
19
Zone PositioningZone positioning is actually a strength on most reps. He is just more inconsistent in zone than he is in man coverage, likely stemming from some inexperience as a redshirt sophomore.

Game:Takeaways:
23
Ole Miss (09/23/2023)Seemingly long arms. Pulls off or avoids block for the tackle on multiple reps. Great open field pivots. Active in outside run game. Good footwork around red zone from press. Keeps eyes on quarterback in off coverage. Incredible mirroring footwork, keeping his hips low and accelerating to maintain positioning from the line. Covered potential second route break, which is high end stuff. Footwork off the line in press coverage is consistently impressive. Can effectively cover inside from press and win along the boundary. Positioned for easy PBU. Fluid hips. Very easy interception. Missed tackle. Not the best single step acceleration to click and close from off coverage.Occasionally sloppy on backpedal. Excellent single step pivots. Disciplined at the line. Another easy PBU due to positioning. Positioning appropriately in off-man coverage, but could be slightly more aggressive. Correct zone read. Superb recover speed despite not necessarily having the fastest 40. Can play too soft in zone. Great red zone corner. Easily first round press man tape, but needs more experience in zone coverage. The 20-year-old put up first round man coverage film.
24
Tennessee (10/21/2023)The decision to close from off soft coverage was slightly delayed. Again, slower to close underneath due to decision, not ability. Not the most sound tackler, but not bad for a cornerback. Great footwork and hip fluidity in press. Allows comebacks and curls from off every time. This is expected when they are sub-10 yards, but he must learn to adjust his playstyle if this continues. Active in screen game. Can get physical at the line, but does not always elect to do so. Somehow did not get PBU. Injured and removed from the game.Day two tape. Early day two press coverage with late day two off coverage at best. Currently an early 2nd round grade.
25
Georgia (12/02/2023)Left a lot underneath. Mirroring footwork and timing on rotations from press is impressive game after game. Rotations off the line are also remarkably impressive. Great foot speed. Body angles when pivoting are quick and highly efficient. Beat on comeback. Great recovery speed. Scheme versatile, and can even play inside. Beat on comeback routes consistently. Gets after it in the run game. Can match double moves, which may be his most impressive quality. Zone positioning usually great, but not always. So sticky on dig routes.Up to a late first round grade.
26
Michigan (01/01/2024)Excellent press footwork and mirroring. Can play inside and out. Long arms and disruptive at the catch point. Active in the run game. Well-built. Matching well at the break along the interior. Decent anticipation. Way too soft along the boundary. Great recovery speed. Accelerated off of outside foot, putting him a step behind in the slot. Always plays too soft from off coverage. Worried about his immediate role in the NFL.Mid-Late 1st player. Still a late first tape grade. Too soft from off and zone coverage.

Final Scouting Report:
51
Terrion Arnold truly had a breakout season. With Kool-Aid McKinstry playing across from him, opposing teams decided to riddle Arnold with targets. He displayed expertise in press coverage, sticking with most receivers throughout all levels of the field. He flew around like a madman against the run, and his dominance at the catch point led to twelve passes defensed and five interceptions this last season. Arnold had an excellent season showcasing why he should be selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he is not without his flaws.

In off-man coverage, he consistently allowed receptions underneath. If a team needed a first down, the receiver would just run a comeback route at the boundary and convert nearly every time. When in zone coverage, his positioning is unreliable. He has excellent reps followed by some head-scratching reps when it came to the mental aspect of zone coverage. All that said, the redshirt sophomore will and should be drafted in the first round this upcoming Spring. He may be scheme-dependent off the bat, but has the athleticism and natural skill to develop into one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL.
