I did not have a way to get to the polls otherwise. Removing the option for college students to vote on campus impedes their rights to engage with democratic elections. People without a voice can't be represented. Representation as a result of a muted voice is unconstitutional. Thank you for your time.

Not only is it disenfranchising young voters, but particularly people of color given the move on the colleges in Greensboro and an HBCU. Lawmakers are determined to skew voting in their favor by unethically changing the rules last minute. This is nothing more than a calculated power grab and it should be swiftly stuck down as such. Keep polling centers on campus. If you can’t win your election because of young voters, then you don’t deserve to be in office.

Now, i’m a reasonable person, but the only reason I can think of for government leaders to take away polling sites is to disenfranchise people who would otherwise vote them out of power. Taking away reasonable voting sites is equivalent to taking our right to vote away. Each board member swore an oath to protect the constitution and the people of NC. College students are balancing far more than classes. Many are working, caring for family members, volunteering, and contributing to their communities while preparing for their futures. Making voting less accessible to them sends the wrong message.



I had the opportunity to cast my first vote on UNCG's campus. I remember gathering with friends, talking with classmates and strangers alike, and feeling the excitement of participating in our democracy together. Although we all came from different backgrounds and had different perspectives, we shared the experience of taking part in something bigger than ourselves. It is a memory I will never forget.



Bring back on-campus voting.



College campuses should be places that encourage civic engagement, critical thinking, respectful dialogue, and an understanding of different perspectives. For many students, college is a major stepping stone into adulthood, community involvement, and participation in our democracy. Ensuring students have accessible opportunities to vote where they learn and grow helps strengthen those values for generations to come.

I assure you, this will not benefit you and you cannot prevent us from ensuring we are represented and heard. As a current college student at North Carolina State University, I personally understand the difficulties some college students may face with transportation to a polling place. Having a polling place on campus would allow easy access for the many thousands of students living on or near their campus. Many students living on campus do not have access to personal transportation, and this presents them with a barrier to voting at a site off campus. Removing polling places from college campuses that were previously creates a voting barrier that specifically marginalizes student populations. When college students have reduced access to polling places, they are discouraged from participating in the election process. NC A&T and UNCG need to have polling places on campus as they previously have had to ensure student voters have equitable representation and access in the following election.

This rule threatens to eliminate some of the most effective voter mobilization traditions in North Carolina,

traditions that exist because communities of color have had to fight for every inch of access to the ballot box.

Souls to the Polls, Party at the Polls, and Student March to the Polls have brought thousands of Black, brown,

and young voters to sites across this state. In Durham, Greensboro, and Charlotte, Black churches have

marched voters to early voting sites with music and collective energy. In Raleigh and Wilmington, community

celebrations have made voting feel safe and welcoming for voters who have every reason to distrust a system

that has historically excluded them. At NC A&T, Western Carolina University, Duke, and NC Central University,

student marches have turned out young voters who might otherwise have stayed home.



These events lower barriers, build trust, and bring eligible voters to the polls who would not otherwise come.

This proposed rule does not exist in a vacuum. North Carolina has a well-documented history of voter

suppression, from the Wilmington coup of 1898, to Jim Crow literacy tests, to a voter ID law the Fourth Circuit

found was crafted with almost surgical precision to target Black voters. A rule that silences the events most

effective at mobilizing Black, brown, and young voters fits squarely within that history.



Polling locations should be places where every eligible voter feels empowered to participate. Community

mobilization events that use music, energy, and collective joy to get people to the polls strengthen democracy.



I urge the Board to reject this proposed change and protect the right of communities to organize and mobilize

voters without restriction.

I went to that voting site along with a few student and non-student friends due to the convenience. Most other options require other modes of transportation that are not free, including tickets and even paying for temporary parking. UNCG provides a free bus during early voting times called the Spartan Chariot. This bus picks up both students and campus visitors and drops them off about a minute walk from where our early voting site was FOR FREE. No student ID, no ticket fee, nothing. Why take away the convenience? Why make it harder for young adults to use their voice? We're the new generation of adults, we deserve to have our voices heard. Not every student has a car, especially those living on campus. They most likely don't have the funds to pay for the rising gas prices either. Give young adults full autonomy, we're allowed to vote.

It is unfair to ALL involved. This is not being very democratic ... voter suppression.

Consider that in densely populated areas, citizens should not have to wait in line in excess of 30 minutes to cast their vote. Early voting periods with non-standard business hours are crucial to increasing voter participation. if you work a job where you cannot get leave to go vote, the polls should be open (until we make election day a federal and state holiday) early and late hours and on the weekends. College students, who often don't have their own transportation, need voting locations close by, as do less affluent communities. And maintaining stability in voting locations reduces confusion and wasted time and frustration for voters. Thank you for considering these points in making your decisions on behalf of citizens in those non-unanimous counties.

The laws and regulations of North Carolina should work to make fair elections more accessible to the public and not impede any US citizen of voting age to be able to cast their ballot. Having early poling access at our colleges in Guilford County - specifically UNCG and NC A&T - are pivotal for the members of those communities to be able to cast their ballots. We need to support the voting habits of all people, but in particular, those of our youngest eligible voters. Young adults need to practice being good citizens - work hard, follow laws, contribute to society and vote. Closing down these early poling places impedes that ability. Put back the poling places at UNCG, NC A&T, Western Carolina, NC State, GTCC, and Vance-Granville. My hope as a parent and former educator is for all our citizens to be life-long learners and involved community members. Return access to fair and early voting cites.

I have a niece at one and that does not sound equitable for individual who may not have a car. Also, it is my understanding that Barber Park in GSO and Washington Park Terrace in High Point may suffer exclusion even though they were approved by the majority. Not having these areas to vote sends a message of exclusion adjudicated possibly by the The State Board of Elections. The lack of these places to vote seems highly a determination on the part of a specific party that might suffer if these individuals were allowed to vote more freely than offered. Plans need to include key campus voting sites, including HBC Universities, so that students don't have to go out of their way to walk long distances or ""hitch"" rides to polling sites. Please ensure all NC voting sites have Sunday hours - something that has long been a tradition in North Carolina.

Let's be ""voter friendly"" not ""anti-voter"" in this critical time for our democracy. Every vote should count and as the NC Board of Elections you should be making it easier - not harder - for every citizen to exercise their right to cast a vote for candidates of their choice!

Sunday voting always provides an extra day to those who work may work through the rest of the week and is also a way that places of worship may go to cast votes together. That may be the only time that some people have time set aside.



TO REPEAT: Guilford County needs to protect Sunday voting and keep current early voting sites open. To repeal these early voting sites just says that you are scared of the impact and power of the young and educated. And you should be.

It took us over 30 minutes just to walk there. Sometimes, the sidewalk was cracked and uneven. Sometimes, there was no sidewalk at all. No bus route went from campus to the voting location. This is a HUGE accessibility issue. This is voter suppression.



It is your duty to make voting accessible to every adult citizen. College students have a right to vote and want to exercise that right, but moving their early voting location off campus suppresses that right. Give NC A&T and UNCG on-campus early voting locations, and I guarantee you will see unprecedented rates of voter turnout among college students. That is democracy. DO NOT REMOVE COLLEGE CAMPUSES POLLING PLACES.

Our voting system is NOT broken, so all hands off!! They serve us well and have for many, many years.

There are many other things in Guilford County that are broken, but

College students have a right to vote as easily as possible, just like all Americans do.

Also, giving 1 day for early voting, somebody has bumped their heads!!!!!!!!!!
