I think the district and the board have a responsibility (and are probably the only ones who can) to offer some firmer guidance to the process without always deferring to privileged families. We all know how hard and how much work it is to capture meaningful participation and feedback from bipoc and low ses communities and it puts additional, undue burden of folks who already don't have a voice. It allows those who always have a voice co-opt their best interests
