@mcglasson31"The Christmas Truce" teachers could discuss character development; could be integrated
with anti-bullying campaign.

Teacher could also introduce historical fiction to class through the means of starting the
video...pausing it...lecture about WWI...and then resume the video.

The Cloud: this would be good for emotions and friendship.

Partly Cloudy video
Compare/Contrast the pink clouds to the blue/black cloud
Analyze why the stork kept coming back to the black cloud to deliver
his packages?

#SharonKambergIn The Thinking Shed you can find the video "Made of More". You can use this video with
just about any grade level. Following the same process of student dialogue, brainstorming,
play acting, etc. you can simply ask the question of Describe the cloud's purpose?
7
Use the flying books video to promote reading at the beginning of the year, or when
assigning a novel or story to reluctant readers
8
@SuperMissMegUse the video "The Bridge" to focus on problem/solution, cause and effect, and the power
of collaboration & cooperation. The video is on youtube as a Disney short, "Bridge."

smetigerwallaceThe World Cup Shed- have students write an opinion piece on safe vs. taking risks

I think any of these clips could be great to have students write about using elements of grammar/vocabulary/figurative language instruction. Have students watch the clip then have them write a paragraph using a certain number of recently taught elements in their paragraph.

I added an app called Mindmup, which is used a graphic organizer. You could use this app to teach character analysis/Literacy Shed videos.

I think this is a great way to incorporate academic language frames. All students can work collaboratively, but, using discussion protocols and norms.For example,in my classroom I have posters as well as student copies of academic language to share ideas, hold the floor, report a group's idea, etc. I also think that this is conducive to group writing, which gives struggling writers more confidence, and hesitant speakers more voice.

@ccshin
I only have 5 chrome books, so I use them in rotations. I'd love to have kids respond to reading comp questions using padlet.

@Bvree82
I was inspired by the idea of using more visual literacy to hit multiple ELD/ELA standards.
