Statuses provide visibility for where, at a high-level, work stands. Karbon comes pre-built with five major statuses: Planned, Ready to Start, In Progress, Waiting, and Completed. What level of granularity do you want to view work in Kanban?
For example, you might have differing “Waiting” states specified as: Waiting for client, tax authority, approval, or account manager.
Create custom workflow statuses
5
Statuses can easily be toggled from a given piece of Work (from the Work header) and also selected by dragging and dropping a specific piece of Work between Work Status from the Kanban view of Work. Are there any limitations to Custom Statuses?
There is no limit in the number, but they must be within one of the four status groups. Status names are limited to 20 characters (including spaces).
Create Work Types and drill into each to customize your workflow statuses
6
Sometimes the status "In Progress" is too broad, so how do you, at a glance, know where things stand? You can add custom statuses to any of the four major categories as well to provide better visibility.Where do I find Custom Statuses in Karbon and how to add?
To modify, go to Practice Settings. Create the Statuses first. Second, create the Work Types. Lastly, click into each work type to customize.
Create templates for repeatable work and edit the details section to assign a work type

Review the sample status matrix below to get an understanding how custom statuses and work types work together. When understood, use the provided workbook to help you organize how you want to build your statuses within Karbon. Once your matrix is built, go into Karbon and use the Practice Settings section to create/update (from the main navigation panel).
- Step 1 (Workflow statuses): Add all custom statuses to the four status groups.
- Step 2 (Work types): Add all listed work types to the list.
- Step 3 (Work types): Select a work type and then check the custom workflow statuses that apply to the selected work type.
