Heppner, BenBirds Eye View66 truck playersBirds Eye View is my attempt to tell a stroy of interaction from the viewpoint of a third party member. Performers in the ensamble will be split into two groups. So three members of the ensemble will represent one side, and three will represent the other. Each group of has their own statements at the beginig of the compesitions where parts interact with their own respective sections. The piece will end with an interaction between the groups musically.
3
McClure, FrederickTunnel Vision51 Vibraphone and 2 players on the left and right side of the truckTunnel Vision is meant to encapture the busy/focused mindset we can hold in life, only to venture out into certain parts of the world and see that it is much larger than you imagined. The piece will start solely on the truck, using harder sticks/mallets on shorter sounds of the truck. The vibrophone will fade in and take over while players on the truck will move to softer yarn/rubber mallets on resonant areas of the truck. Naked and on Fire - Adam Silverman, Else - ArcaThe opening section is meant to be rhythmically and audibly "thick" and then transition into a more resonant and wet soundscape (hence "Else" as a reference)
4
Hunter, CanaRust Dances51 double bass, 1 violin (both with mics due to outdoor setting), 3 players on truck with bows and soft malletsRust Dances portrays the beauty found in brokenness, and how being resourceful can yield a wealth of possibilities. It will have short minute-length movements played without pausing in between, and will feature various modes and tempi. The piece will incorporate bowing and percussive effects on both the truck and the string instruments, as well as more melodic sections.Black Angels - Crumb; Palladio - Karl Jenkins/Escala
5
Stavropoulos, Elena(title TBD)61 viola, 1 violin, 4 players bowing on truck, 2 of those will switch to mallets as piece progressesThe piece will begin with an atmospheric "soundscape" style section incoorporating lots of bowing on the truck to create a wash of sound that slowly takes shape and becomes more structured and lyrical sounding. The idea is a sort of extraction of order out of chaos and reflects the artistic process especially as it pertains to this sculpture (taking a random assortment of "junk" items and organiznig them into a cohesive piece of artwork).
6
Beyer, GregoryInternational Harvester8KB3 1947 IHThis work will highlight the "found tonality" of the sounds of the sculpture itself. The rhythmic approach will be not unlike an amadinda, deliberatiely performing in parallel on both sides of the "instrument."
Each player will be assigned a specific voice within the composition.
Ugandan amadinda music.
Steve Reich's classical minimalism period.
Jim Black's Alas No Axis

Maki, DavidKaren?4KB3 1947 IH, glockenspiel, orchestra chimes, vibraphone(?)The piece will incorporate a series of short sentences spoken/shouted in unison by the performers, its rhythm mimicicked by the performers on the truck. The sentences will be derived from ubiquitous spam text messages I receive addressed to "Karen." Each short section will be signalled by the common alert soud of a c6 on the glock. As the piece unfolds the alert sound will begin to distort and dominate perhaps turning into loud clusters on the pitched metals as the piece ends in cacaphony.

Villanueva, RodrigoTruckotism4KP3, 1 tam-tam, 2 snare drums, 2 bass drums, 2 hi-hats, various cymbals, cowbells, shakers. Maybe electric Bass and Malletkat or synth. Oscar Petiford coined the term Tricotism as a title of one of his compositions, maybe derived from the French word "Tricoteur," a male who knits. In this particular piece, Truckotism, I tweaked Tricotism to include the word "Truck." Therefore, Truckotism could mean men knitting musical ideas on a truck. This piece will explore different playable areas of the KP3, but adding more familiar percussive sounds that hopefully will blend naturally with this truck's intrinsic noises, and it will portray the process of knitting musical ideas. Starting from a simple short rhythmic motiffs and knitting them to create a more complex fabric of structured musical frases with wild sounds, textures and polyrhythms.
