2/7/2013 23:16:02Yanmin JiFreshmanJohn MuirBioengineeringFreshmanjiyanminoscar@msn.comBecause GCC is a bridge that link America to China. GCC is important not only because it introduce China to the world, but also because it brings the influences of the world to China. Just as its name suggests, GCC is a necessary “connection” between China and the World. As for our campus, GCC can provide many opportunities for American students to learn about China, and can also help Chinese students integrate into the American society. I used to be the captain of our research-base study group in my high school. The goal of the study is to let students learn knowledges via research. The thesis of our five-people group is “Trash Recycling”. According to the whole project, my teammates and I investigated the quantities of trash in many big markets and shops, and how much of them can be reused. As the captain, I made the schedule of our study, and hosted the opening and the ending report. Furthermore, I wrote a letter to our government about the methods of how to dispose trash, which is the result of our research-base study. To begin with, I do think GCC is an important bridge between America and Chinese, and the basic duty of us, the new generation of Chinese, is to introduce China to the world and connect the world together. Also, I do think GCC is a good place for me to develop my leadership. Obviously, I really need improvement in my communication skills. With so many professional workshops and outstanding officers. I am sure that I will grow much better with GCC. Furthermore, as a undergraduate student, I still have a major assignment: studying. The biggest difference between GCC and any other organizations is that GCC is much more professional than others. With such a professional organization, I believe that I can achieve more in my studies!Director of Finance

Being without a doubt the next great center of business and commerce, GCC's focus on China puts it in a crucial position for providing guidance to business minded students, and acts as an excellent platform for cross-cultural communication. Most of my leadership experience is actually in the field of music. Through my junior and senor years of high school, I took on the position of Choirmaster at my local Catholic church. I led a choir of 36 and a small orchestra from the organ. Looking back on the position, there are few experiences that showcase as full a range of leadership abilities as leading a musical ensemble. The position required that I constantly speak in front of a knowledgeable and skilled crowd, choose appropriate music, interpret it, and effectively communicate that interpretation to the other musicians in a way that they can understand and reproduce my interpretation. I was constantly under pressure to call out mistakes, correct people in a way that was not condescending, and provide clear guidance to a group of people to help them reach their potential in completing the task at hand. This type of position requires the ability to command respect and display knowledge and general wisdom in a way that people are persuaded to listen to you. I successfully proformed concerts once a month at mass for nearly two years. I have seen many of the events GCC has run in the past few months and have found them all very helpful to me in reaching my career goals. The helpfulness of GCC events aside, for me personally, GCC offers me much needed practice in understanding Chinese language and culture. There is simply no other group on campus that can cater to my interests in Chinese business and language like GCC can.President

2/10/2013 18:26:54Jiayi Sunfreshmanrevelleundeclaredfreshmanluooluoo@163.comchineseAs the name Global China Connection suggests, GCC chapter in UCSD should focus on the connections between China and America, emphasizing on facilitating Chinese student's adaption at UCSD and broadening the channel in which diverse cultures communicate. At such a initiative stage, GCC should try to be specific based on our limitation on the number of our members. I suggest GCC initiate cooperation with departments like economics, history and political science.being officer member in outreach and public relations in CSSA, 2012-2013
