County of Santa ClaraWalkContactless PushbuttonsTiming ModificationWorking with few vendors to develop contactless pushbuttons7/1/2020Ananth PrasadPrincipal Civil Engineerananth.prasad@rda.sccgov.orgExpect to have a prototype soon and the idea of this is to have a way to activate the pushbuttons using NFC technology where people need to just bring in their smartphone or smartwatch just near the pushbutton to activate. No need to have any apps. This ADA compatible pushbutton will have the traditional push button to comply with MUTCD. The other option is to look at way of activating the crosswalk with just hand gestures. But not sure these can be developed. But vendors are looking in to this and I will update when we have more information
