ECity West30MUltimo Glebe loopA loop into the edge of the city via the ANZAC bridge and Pyrmont and returning to Concord through Ultimo (includes elevated "Goods Line" precinct) Glebe, Annandale, Leichardt, Haberfield and FiveDock. It’s a medium ride of about 28km with that unavoidable Lilyfield hill and a few shorter steep pinches and mostly on public roads. Short stretches are on roads that may be stressful (Sussex Street and Wentworth Park Rd) and there are some unusual riding issues like traffic lights at the bottom or top of steepish hills and moving from multi lane roads onto paths. Off road sections around Iron Cove, the "Goods Line" precinct and Rozelle Bay may be busy with walkers and dogs (who have priority on the paths) requiring slow riding.http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/939858341Map my rideGAConcord to Anzac Bridge and Pyrmont Bridge, south on Sussex Street to Haymarket, up and along Goods Line, north west past Wentworth Park to Blackwattle Bay. West on southern side of railway (Annandale). South along light rail, cross Hawthorne Canal, Waratah Street to Ingham and Barnstaple and Concord.Blackwattle Glebe. Opens 8am at about 16km. $3:50 for a long black, for food at least it is pricey (most sandwich options about $13.00) and they won't split the bill. So please bring small notes and coins.

NMacquarie UniversityConcord to Macquarie Uni and return, using different routes. Departing Brewer Street Concord at 7am this ride will be 33km and back to Brewer Street Concord by 10am. We manage the mainly up hill to Macquarie Uni by following the railway line to Eastwood before heading north east to the Uni. We'll roll down Wally's Way, which is the (at this time of a Sunday the deserted) central axis of the campus. We take the scenic and nicely built Shrimpton Creek cycleway for about half the trip back to the river, before hitting the steeper on road descents that will take us back to Concord. It being the ANZAC day weekend, if we are on time I'll suggest a short diversion (bikes will need to be walked) along the Kakoda trail memorial walkway at Rhodes.

Grade medium, 3/4 on road, some short hills, aiming for 21km/h on the flat. Coffee, I haven't been able to locate anything exciting north of the river open at the time we'll be there. Any suggestions? Back stop will be Concord.

WRookwood16ENecropolis explorerDistance will about 15.5 km (return, no one way journeys) and the destination is the oldest (1863) part of the necropolis, built around what is now known as Necropolis circuit. The trip there and back is about 9km on road (including a few roundabouts and the steady 0.5km uphill of Mitchell Rd, Homebush West) and about 6km off road or on the 40Km/h limited roads in the necropolis. When we get there we'll spend 30 minutes walking with some short riding segments around Necroplis circuit and we'll have a closer look at a dozen or so monuments, some to the famous, some forgotten apart from their monument and some just beautiful. Because of the walking "duck walk" type cleated shoes are not recommended.GACooks River cycle route from Pommeroy St, turn off to Rookwood top of Mitchell St. Cycle to old No1 mortuary station and investigate sites within 400 m. See Geoff's notes. Either return same way (15.5km) or rejoin Cooks River route and return via The Boulevard, Burwood Rd or Croyden Avenue for a longer trip.

NESeven Bridges20MWhat could be interesting about visiting old cemeteries? Yes, a rhetorical question. I’ve attached some excerpts from the recently published “Sydney Cemeteries", a field guide, by Lisa Murray to whet the appetite. Plan is to spend about 10 minutes at each of three cemeteries, so this will be just a "viewing”. You’ll have to come another time to enjoy the picnic.http://cyclemeter.com/62b2c0254d488b29/Cycle-20130929-0718?r=eCyclemeterMBHenley Marine to Iron Cove BR, ANZAC Br, Pyrmont Br, SHB, Narremburn, Artarmon, BurnsBay Rd, Figtree Br, Tarban Creek Br, Gladesville Br.Lane Cove
