NoTwice to five times0161 226 7777Lacks knowledge about administering transition-related care and won't (or is reluctant to) do so without instructions from a GIC, but will be proactive about seeking those instructions with your permission. Hasn't demonstrated any traits that would make him unsuitable for treating trans* patients in unrelated contexts.Update: "I need to add a caveat wrt incompetence to Dr Eden's entry on the "good GPs" list. He recently stopped being cooperative with regards to monitoring after he discovered that spiro interferes with the appearance of oestrogen levels, completely ignoring the fact that it doesn't effect the appearance of testosterone levels or more importantly, safety-critical indicators"

I know the practice has a few trans men who get their prescriptions there but I'm the first trans patient that she sees personally, so she's not prescribed yet. I have no reason to believe that she won't prescribe on GIC recommendation.

Also very pro-active: she has been known to write to the GIC for advice whenever she has any questions. My GIC doctor was so impressed with her attention to detail and care for her patients that he asked me to pass on his compliments.

The surgery also has a very experienced senior nurse who administers Nebido to several male patients. She, too, is very professional and respectful.

I have no experience of whether she is non-binary friendly because I'm very much binary. ;)

I don't know what you mean exactly by non binary people, I mean I suppose if your non binary but have dysphoria I am sure you would get a referral, I don't see it being an issue, then once you have a recommendation I can't imagine him not prescribing based on you not fitting neatly into a gender stereotype. YesOnceI approached them regarding being genderless and wanting to start androgen blockers, and they explained the process as it stands. They didn't create any unrealistic expectations and knew straight off that the nearest GIC was Leeds. They explained the pre-screening that would be needed and arranged a blood test and explained what would happen moving on. I didn't have to blag being binary at all, and felt like they had an understanding of NB identities.
On a side note, they helped me approach the receptionist about changing the title on my records. The receptionist asked if I had a preferred pronoun or if I preferred not using a pronoun at all. The blood test was done within 20 minutes because the surgery had an opening.

NoMore than five times0161 237 9490Have been with this GP throughout my transition for a total period of around 7 years, and find they are knowledgeable and receptive to discussing transition-related healthcare openly. I have never had a negative experience, and would like to specifically mention practice nurse Wendy Cooke who has provided fantastic sexual healthcare and also made me feel able to go in for a cervical smear test feeling safe and secure. This GP has referred to a GIC or onto an official pathway., This GP has prescribed HRT or another treatment recommended by a GIC.

They have treated me as a trans man for years. What I like about them is that they are a genuinely caring group of doctors who treat you as a human being and are genuinely interested in you as such. I believe they genuinely want to assist and treat you with kindness, care and professionalism (without seeing you as an 'unusual specimen' or defining people by their condition or illness). They have a listening ear. The Practice Nurse
Emma Jones RGN is also very professional e.g. re smear tests for transmen.
This GP has prescribed HRT or another treatment without a recommendation from a GIC.

The staff (from receptionists to GP) have been very respectful and pleasant to me and have been happy to follow the guidance of the GIC. The two nurses that I have seen for Decapeptyl injections and blood tests are lovely people, very caring and professional. NoMore than five times01256 329021I came to this practice already referred, however Dr Meah prescribed my testosterone & ensured my blood tests were sorted when requested, very friendly and great to interact with. I am binary (trans man) so no experience with him and non-binary people. He does take some time, as long as you chase up often you'll get it sorted no problem. Often booked up for around a month in advance but makes space for phone calls (actually how I got my prescription sorted!) and while he may not know everything about transitioning (GICs handle that) he listens really well and is very understanding. Great GP to have! If you get the same receptionist consistently that can lead to better results as they have impeccable memory. This GP has prescribed HRT or another treatment recommended by a GIC.
