This pair shows plenty of ability. To excel at this level it is essential to ride corners. With arena set up there are no real corners at the C end. To be more accurate I would slightly shorten the arena with rails, when riding especially to shoulder in, there are straight strides before the shoulder in actually starts, as well as straightening at the end of the long side. In riding a better corner, hopefully the rider will be using more outside rein and inside leg engaging the inside hind of the horse. Today's test lack of engagement is shown in several areas, especially in riding the turns on the haunches, they are quite large without real connection. I realize it is extra work to remove jumps for a dressage test, however the jumps affected the quality of the halt pass left. It was quite difficult to see letters down the long side of the arena so I am guessing a bit if you are in fact being as accurate as possible. Unfortunately this doesn't allow me to be more generoud with the points I can reward with. Both the medium and extended trot work took several strides to develop, some of this is due to needing more engagement and balance throughout the turn before the effort. Make sure to ride from letter to letter, there was a bit of fading on the extended effort. Accuracy is not just for accuracy, clean prompt well prepared transitions require elastic connection. Your horse is fairly obedient. To gain balance to move up, he will need to be more on the hindquarters. My thought as I watched this test, I wanted to see more, it's clear there is more talent to this pair!
