Data from OpenSecrets was used to calculate the amount donated by the oil & gas industry to fuel the Sedition Caucus. This amount includes donations to individual members of the Sedition Caucus, as well as donations to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). The term "Sedition Caucus" is used to refer to members of the U.S. House and Senate who voted to overturn the 2020 election results, according to the NYTimes (1). According to CREW, the NRCC and NRSC are "the two main Republican party committees supporting these members" (2). Data was obtained from OpenSecrets.org via a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License (3-6). The data include contributions from PACs and individuals giving $200 or more categorized into "Oil & Gas" by OpenSecrets. All donations took place during the 2021-2022 election cycle and were released by the Federal Election Commission.
