5The proposed Housig Task Force could help ensure that dedicated rental assistance is not laid to waste by unchecked 'source of income' (SOI) discrimination. Right now, City attorneys don't have the standing to enforce their own source of income discrimination code, but that's something that city council could theoretically address by amending the code. If the County pays for this rent-gap subsidy, the City should amend their code to ensure that the funds are being used to maximum effect within City of Rochester boundaries.Without robust enforcement of the SOI discrimination laws, the amount of housing practically available to people who recieve this subsidy becomes vanishingly small.
