Place 2 or 3 sheets of newspaper on top of child's head. Two other children can hold it in place and tape around their head to get the form. Gently pull off and lay on a table. Roll edges toward center....leave it big and floppy for girls or roll up tighter for boys.
Decorate as you want using materials you have on hand.

3/31/2015 9:28:54De ConstructionWe are overrun with old computers, broken headphones etc... so I put together a deconstruction table where students can take things apart. I added some screwdrivers, cups to hold tiny parts, needle nosed pliers, etc.. This has been the most successful Maker Activity to date. I have to run some boys out of there every day to get to class. Tiny screwdrivers
Needle nosed pliers
cups to hold little parts

ART: Think outside the Box
I found an idea online and tried it this week as my art portion of makerspace.... I used it with 2nd-6th grade

Students are given a random shape and they must create something new and unique from it…For example: if it looks like glasses they can’t use it as glasses…I had a girl turn it into a camel. Students have been very creative and supportive of each other.

The link below has a place where you can download the shapes.
