Benthische Algen ohne Diatomeen und Characeen - Feldführer and Bestimmungshilfe
https://www.lanuv.nrw.de/fileadmin/lanuvpubl/4_arbeitsblaetter/40002.pdff
Benthic, soft bodied algae are used in Germany to assess the ecological status of rivers. To support employees in the regional water management authorities, the North Rhine Westphalia State Agency for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection (LANUV NRW) published two books: one is a detailed description of the field work (“field guide”). The other book (“identification help”) focuses on the species identification by means of microscopic analysis. It contains information about almost 200 taxa (on species or genus level) of benthic soft algae from different algal classes. All taxa are presented by text, by microscopic pictures and by drawings. Identification is possible by dichotomous key. Both books are written in German. However they contain many pictures that may be a valuable help for everyone interested in benthic soft algae. The publications can be ordered directly from the LANUV homepage or ordered at a very reasonable price as paperback.

N.AtlanticEnglishTools of Science (YouTube)https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn2r9bLF1oQS7w11EAkoO9w
The Tools of Science is a series of educational videos and hands on lessons designed to help students explore the nature and process of science. These short videos are designed to introduce the science and engineering practices from the point of view of practicing scientists. The videos focus on the research of Drs. Kay Bidle and Kim Thamatrakoln of virus infections of coccolithophores in the North Atlantic. The videos are meant to illustrate the non-linear, cyclical nature of the scientific process and the creative vision and skills needed to conduct cutting-edge, impactful scientific research. They have been used successfully in both undergraduate and high school classrooms. For the K-12 community, these videos and associated materials have been produced to support the implementation of the Science Framework for K-12 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The long-term aim of this project is to produce supporting material (lesson plans, discussion prompts, and demonstrations) to complement each of the eight NGSS practices.
