| 9/8/2023 10:14:17 | Jeff | Weed Control | business district on Madison Rd | The volume of weeds throughout the Madison Rd business district in the Spring, Summer, Fall is embarrassing. Primary in tree wells. Consider installation of porous rubber tree wells throughout district (example https://sustainablesurfacing.com/rubber-tree-wells). Or hiring more regular service from landscaping company to pull weeds and mulch seasonally. | jeff.bensman@gmail.com
| 9/8/2023 13:09:51 | Ann Goebel | Markbreit | Markbreit between Taylor and Isabella | This stretch of Markbreit is used as a speedway very often. Speed limit is 25 but the majority of cars go a lot faster than that, guessing 40 mph on average. Speed bumps are desperately needed! Too many kids, cyclists, dog walkers for it to be safely traveled with so many speeders. | alsg229@aol.com
| 9/30/2023 12:57:46 | Joe | Build a permanent band shell/shelter on Oakley Square | Oakley Square | Build a band shell/shelter on the square that can be used for community events. Would save from having to rent temporary tents for each event, could encourage more usage of the square (movie night?). Credit to Kenny McNutt for the suggestion. | joe.groh@oakleynow.com
| 10/3/2023 20:33:11 | Natalia Darling | Closed Circuit Camera system for Oakley Park | Oakley Park near upcoming Kohls location and where new courts were moved. | At our oakley monthly meeting CRC reported a broken window and others discussed people sleeping overnight -- at the courts, near the old rec building, near the softball lit area (wooded area). The police officer assumed cameras are available and it turns out there are none. This is something important to safety for oakley residents and people who visit our park if we wish to maintain a family safe zone/environment. I think funds would be well spent here. | ndarling@hotmail.com
| 10/3/2023 20:37:15 | Natalia Darling | Food Bank Resources for Oakley and MEAC | At old/new oakley rec center, we should have available food bank resources for elderly and young, and any families who wish to have additional support. Some of the VTICA funds could support food items throughout the year or during especially trying times like holidays and summers. | We know funds are limited, but if there is some "seed" fund, with appeals to community members to provide canned goods then we can help our community through trying economic times. This is more meaningful than decorations or fun activities in the long run. | ndarling@hotmail.com
| 10/19/2023 20:07:23 | Jonathan Allred | Park and playground to connect old Oakley with brand new Foundry Development | North of Robertson from 31st to 33rd. Dedicated 2 acres | I believe that the numbered streets of Oakley need access to more green space. It’s unfortunate that a 100 year love of the land plan was not submitted. For example- Mariemont was well developed over 100 years ago with quality of life and community connection in mind. I believe that the current plan is focused on money (and doesn’t take into account what makes people happy). When considering what draws people to loving an area - it’s not profit. | allredj78@gmail.com
| 11/7/2023 13:07:20 | Steve Deiters | Combine the funds with MSD funding to reolve the storm flooding issues on 31st St. | 31st St. sewers | Why should it be a top priority? Because it is a chronic flooding problem in heavy storms | diffusedgas@embarqmail.com
| 11/8/2023 8:32:10 | Christopher Witham | 1) 4-way stop and crosswalks at the Brownway and Minot intersection, and 2) Fix flooding issue on Brownway at the intersection with Minot | Brownway and Minot | 4-way stop and crosswalks needed for safety, to slow traffic and allow pedestrians safe passage; and flooding at the same intersection became worse after the sidewalk renovation project 2 years ago | christophermwitham@gmail.com
| 2/6/2024 20:52:57 | Paige Scheidler | Crosswalk signs | All crosswalks | Install “it’s the law” “yield/stop for pedesin crosswalk”. Anderson township has them. They sit close to the street at the crosswalk. It can be an education project. | paige@scheidler.us
| 4/1/2024 20:17:24 | Elaine Dunker | Community yoga | Oakley Park | I would be willing to look for yoga instructors to lead the weekly sessions. Perhaps some would donate their time. | elainedunker@gmail.com
| 4/2/2024 13:22:34 | Charlotte Seidner | Stop signs or raised crosswalk at the Wasson Rd and Woodland Ave intersection/crosswalk | Woodland Ave crosswalk over Wasson Rd to the trail | People fly down Wasson Rd and do not stop at this crosswalk, even when people are standing waiting to cross at the street. I have almost been hit several times, especially in the winter when it is dark, and I have seen others almost hit and/or wait to cross while many cars drive by without stopping. I have seen people honk at cards that have stopped to keep moving while crossing as well. It’s extremely dangerous. We need something like the Wasson/Hyde Park Ave intersection has. At a minimum, flashing crossing lights but a raised crosswalk or stop signs and curb bump-out would be even better. | charlotte.seidner@gmail.com
| 4/9/2024 20:13:16 | Kevin Clarke | Improve Robertson Ave for Pedestrians | From Madison Rd (along Appleton) to Beech Street in Norwood | We should make a safe bike and pedestrian-friendly connection from Oakley square to Factory 52 (and eventually to Oakley station via the tunnel). Robertson Ave needs traffic calming mechanisms, including trees and and designated bike lanes in both directions. This would encourage bike transportation, general safety, and a more connected neighborhood. This should be a top priority to improve safety along that road, slow traffic conditions, and connect our growing neighborhood in a way that promotes walking and biking. This should pay major dividends for the community and encourage pedestrian supported businesses in the square, Oakley Station, and at factory 52 - while connecting the original and new living areas in Oakley. | kcclarke1@gmail.com
| 4/9/2024 22:21:35 | Will Collier | Northern Millsbrae Traffic Calming | Millsbrae between Minot and Robertson | This stretch of Millsbrae has grown as a pass through with the development of Factory 52 and will only grow further with the development of Foundry Park/Three Oaks Something on this block would help slow folks down and keep the many walkers safe. | wcollier17@gmail.com
| 4/26/2024 12:56:04 | Madison Jasper | Street Calming - pet and pedestrian hazard | Minot Avenue extending from the corner of Allston and Minot to Minot and Appleton | This is a heavily populated area with businesses, health centers, and residences alike that attracts heavy foot traffic all day and night. There needs to be speed humps and crosswalks added to this stretch of Minot to improve the safety of this neighborhood. The number of cars speeding through this area once the speed humps end is incredible. I myself have almost been hit crossing the street to my home numerous times. I have seen others almost get hit numerous times. I have seen multiple accidents almost occur. And most upsetting, I have seen pets hit and killed here. People use Minot as a cut-through road and have no awareness or emotional tie to the neighborhood and the fact that they are putting those that live, work, and enjoy the area here at risk. I cannot believe the negligence people have for speeding in such a residential area where children are often playing, families are out riding bikes together, and people and pets are crossing the streets. | madison.jasper11@gmail.com
| 4/29/2024 18:03:49 | Sarah Dillman | Speed bumps or some type of traffic calming measure | Along Minot Ave, specifically Minot Ave and 34th Ave | There is constant speeding coming around the bend near 34th and Minot Ave. There have been times I’m trying to back out my driveway and it was clear to pull out then next thing I know a car is right up on me. Same goes to when trying to pull into my driveway. I’ve almost been hit threes times. Recently my cat whom I was about to adopt was hit and killed by someone going over 40 mph. I’ve even spoke with neighbors who say they have almost been hit trying to cross the street. It have been like this for over 10 years. The street is not safe. And it’s only getting worse with the increase of traffic with everything being built. | ssarahmdillman@gmail.com
| 5/5/2024 10:19:04 | Michelle Gorecki | Traffic calming for pedestrian safety at the northern end of Millsbrae Ave. | Northern end of Millsbrae, Millsbrae and Robertson | With the opening of Factory 52, there has been an increase in both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Many cars speed down Millsbrae, and take the turn off Robertson onto Millsbrae very quickly. For pedestrian safety, there should be traffic calming in this area. | m.gorecki14@gmail.com
| 5/23/2024 15:47:31 | Steve Deiters | Timing of lights at Madison and Edwards | The turn left arrow on north bound Madison (heading out of town) at Edwards seems to be out of sync with the full green on south Madison (heading into town) with an over lap of the two. Cars keep turning left as those going straight are now allowed (and do) move into the intersection. I think there is more going on here than the left turn signal people “pushing it” a bit… | I would not call this a top priority, but since it seems to be a timing issue it could be a relatively easy fix. | diffusedgas@embarqmail.com
| 6/6/2024 12:52:48 | mark evans | Traffic Calming on Robertson & Bikeability | Robertson Road | I think Robertson road is a prime candidate for lateral shifts to calm traffic. It's a long straight road that people just fly down sometimes. Perhaps this could be incorporated with adding a bike/walk path. If not, I think a path by the railway that connects the back of Three Oaks to Factory 52 (and eventually Oakley Station via tunnel) would be sufficient as well. As it stands, walking or riding to Norwood from Oakley is not a pleasant experience and feels dangerous at times to get across the street from anywhere other than the light at Appleton & Madison. | markevans30@gmail.com
| 6/28/2024 8:19:04 | Amy Brownlee | Traffic calming, including reduced speed limits through residential corridors and speed cushions at intersections | We need more traffic calming measures, mainly on residential streets like Markbreit Avenue, which is where I’ve owned a home since 2010 (between Edwards and Madison). The street is densely occupied by residents who walk every day with their families and pets. And yet traffic often reaches speeds well in excess of the speed limit. In our time here, we have personally witnessed three separate accidents with flipped or overturned vehicles, the violence of which was due to speed. The most recent incident was right across from a Cincinnati public schools bus stop. Motorists use our street as a cut through to avoid traffic on Madison Road and speed between the two traffic lights. I want my children to be able to explore their neighborhood on foot and make use of their public school bus system. But it is only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed. And that person will likely be one of our neighbors, possibly a child or an elderly resident. | We need traffic calming on Markbreit Avenue between Edwards Road and Madison Road to force drivers to reduce their speed through our densely occupied corridor. The road is very straight with a double yellow line and a relatively high speed limit of 35 mph, which practically invites drivers to race through. This makes it a very inhospitable and unsafe place to live and walk for residents who would like to make use of our proximal business district. This situation is bad for our neighborhood and it’s bad for our city. We must prioritize safe pedestrian streets if we want Oakley to be positioned as a desirable and walkable neighborhood in Cincinnati. | amyknueven@gmail.com
| 8/20/2024 15:02:35 | Bryce Griffiths | Protected Bike Lanes on Madison | Madison Ave | The point of arterial roads is to deliver people from point A to point B. When an arterial road has destinations on it, it fails to be a good way to deliver people from point A to point B, and fails to offer a good way to get people to the destinations on the road. Madison avenue, as an arterial, stimies Oakley business - through traffic kills businesses. If four lane roads like Madison (and other Oakley Arterials, such as Paxton, and Ridge) were 3 lane car traffic, and single lane bike traffic; there would be far more incentive for our residents to bike, and stay in Oakley, instead of getting in a car and clogging up the streets, or worse, taking their business out of Oakley (because Madison is a convenient way out). Imagine if the southernmost lane of Madison was a bike lane - this could conveniently connect Rookwood to Oakley square (and thereby Wasson way), and still leave 3 lanes for car traffic (or two lanes and a dedicated bus/HOV lane) Wide protected bike lanes are powerful city planning strategies that would allow bikers to easily get to their destination, in a safe manner. Additionally, wide protected bike lanes are commonly used as emergency vehicle corridors in other countries. Because cyclists can get out of the way much easier than cars, emergency response times are much quicker. Traffic sucks. It sucks the life out of businesses, commutes, emergency vehicles, public transit and walkability. Car traffic is caused 100% by cars, and the only way to get cars off the street is to provide safe and effective alternatives. I think that by eliminating parking minimums (parking survey) and offering better biking infrastructure, Oakley will become much more of a destination than a through stop | bryce.griffiths1@gmail.com
| 9/20/2024 13:06:52 | Caroline Miller | eliminate blind spots is to move the parking allowance further back on Marburg towards Paxton. Cars can park too closely to Maple and Ridge, making it extra difficult for residents of Maple to successfully see cars coming. A large mirror near the stop sign on Maple would be an additional help for blind spots. > > In addition, posting a reduced speed limit sign with flashing lights could come down the road. I don’t know the speed limit— it’s not well marked. A speed bump would be stellar. A stoplight beyond. | Intersections of Marburg Avenue, Maple Drive, and Ridge Avenue | Residents living on Maple Drive have serious concerns regarding street safety on Marburg Avenue outside of Maple Drive turning into Ridge Avenue. This is in Oakley. This year alone there has been a major crash where a car crashed into a house on Marburg. On 9/9/2024, a dog living on Maple Drive got loose and ran up the street onto Marburg/Ridge/Maple intersection. Due to cars flying through the area and a blind spot coming up the hill on Marburg, a car hit the dog and killed it instantly. The family watched their dog get hit. Beyond this, we have children living on Maple and in the surrounding area. Residents don?t feel safe turning out of Maple due to speeds people go and the blind spot. It is terrifying to turn out of Maple Drive. | millerc876@gmail.com
| 9/25/2024 22:03:35 | Ande Weinstein | Additional speed humps between Sherel and Rosslyn. Evenly spaced throughout. | Near Paxton Woods, near Allendorf, between Erie and Brotherton on Rosslyn | The street is lined with residential houses and apartments. There are bus stops where people cross the street. Drivers treat it like a thoroughfare and then use the Pillars neighborhood as a cut through so Pillars residents feel the effect too. It is a frequent bicycle route. I’ve nearly been hit a couple of times turning left to Jora on my bike. Even while using a turn signal. The speed of traffic along this stretch is too fast considering pedestrian traffic. Pedestrian traffic along here would increase if it was safer. | ande@tinboxstudio.com
| 10/12/2024 1:17:26 | Alex Bumpus | Commerce Walk: A project to convert Allston Street into a pedestrian-only space, enhancing business access and community walkability with nearby parking options. | Commerce Walk at Allston Avenue sits at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Markbreit Avenue, near the Geier Esplanade at Oakley Square. | Commerce Walk is a transformative project aimed at converting Allston Street, a small business-lined alley, into a pedestrian-only zone. By eliminating street parking and restricting vehicle access, the project will create a more vibrant, walkable space that encourages foot traffic and enhances the business environment. Commerce Walk will seamlessly connect to the Geier Esplanade across the Markbreit-Madison intersection by incorporating pedestrian-friendly crosswalks, landscaping, and signage to guide foot traffic. The car-free street will extend the green, open space feel of the park, encouraging park-goers to explore the shops and restaurants. The enhanced walkability and appeal of the area will create opportunities for new restaurants to open, as the increased foot traffic and inviting atmosphere will attract both locals and visitors, fostering a vibrant, connected public space. To address parking concerns, the plan includes a public-private partnership to develop a multi-level parking garage on a nearby private surface lot near 3056 Madison Rd. This ensures accessible parking for visitors while maximizing land use and promoting sustainable urban development. Commerce Walk seeks to balance the needs of businesses, pedestrians, and urban infrastructure. Returns on the city’s investment could yield increased business revenue, parking revenue, public health improvement, and tax revenue. Key considerations would include a thorough traffic study on the effects of Allston Street’s removal on traffic flow at Oakley Square. | bumpus.alex@gmail.com

They consistently run stops signs & even red lights now. They fail to yield to pedestrians regularly & will verbally abuse pedestrians. I had 2 incidents where a driver turned around to yell at me because I embarrassed him b/c I ran through an intersection with my dogs b/c he was not slowing as he approached. Look at Facebook, the number of incidents are on the rise. | aparisgirl@yahoo.com
