117333301SchroederJohnMay 2022I’m a software developer. Prior to that I was a nurse, and before that a medic in the Army. I deployed to Iraq and during that deployment became interested in politics and developed the progressive values that matter to me now. I was an ACLU legal observer during the protests for racial justice. My life prior to becoming a software developer always involved service. I’m looking for another opportunity to serve, and involvement in local Portland politics is more important now than at any other time in the decade+ I’ve lived in Portland.

322434301BrodersenReedMay 2022Reed has been at Metro since 2018, working most recently as a Performance Measurement Coordinator on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team. In this roll he helped develop an open-data tool to measure progress towards Metro’s regional goals, while looking for ways to leverage regional data to advance conversations around racial equity and promote data-driven decision making. He started leading environmental organizing in his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska before transitioning into environmental consulting. Upon his move to Portland in 2016, Reed worked with the non-profit Enhabit to reduce the burden of inefficient home heating on low-income tenants and communities of color. He’s also worked with OHSU to reduce barriers for low-income communities, people of color and individuals with disabilities as they access employment and health care on Marquam Hill. Reed lives in NE Portland with his partner, Andrés, loves to read, listen to podcasts, garden, and backpack. As for his hobbies, Reed says, “I’m a bit of a policy and politics wonk. I’ll gladly get down in the weeds with anyone who will chat with me. I cut my teeth on environmental organizing in Nebraska, mobilizing against the Keystone pipeline. We organized Nebraskans to build grassroots opposition to the pipeline and organized a trip to DC to protest. My partner and I have been involved in supporting local candidates, particularly BIPOC candidates, and leveraging our social networks for house parties in pre-pandemic times. PCPs feel like the building blocks of democracy. I'm interested in getting involved to be a part of the deliberations of the Mult Co Dems, and helping advance racial and social justice at the local level.

322444401YeRobinMay 2022I work in Portland/Oregon politics and I live in the beautiful St. Johns neighborhood . I grew up in Beaverton and returned to Portland after college and I've lived in Portland the last 5 years. I am the proud son of immigrants and identify as Chinese American. Politics and community building are two passions of mine, and I'm thankful to be able to apply them in my working hours. I currently work in the Oregon State Legislature for a Democratic State Representative. I've been heavily involved in electoral politics since returning to the region, working on ballot measures and progressive candidate campaigns at the state, county, city, and school board level. I directed and built the 501(c)(4) electoral operations of multiple local community based, culturally specific organization before entering state government.I'd like to grow more political roots into the North Portland area that I've lived in for several years now. This coincides with my increased involvement in Portland City politics through the Portland Charter Review Commission. It's also a very exciting time for the party, with so many open seats and political dominoes falling. A cascade of change is coming and I hope to be a part of influencing it.

Both local and state Oregon politics has been out of my reach because of complicated bureaucracy, funding, and competing agendas at the local level

322444404FosterJakeMay 2022I grew up in Tigard, attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, and have lived in Portland since 2016. I have volunteered for county parties and the DPO, and I work as a political and communications consultant - both for progressive electoral campaigns and for labor unions and other organizational clients. I have been a PCP in Multnomah County for the past few years, and I was an active PCP on the Executive Committee of the Democratic of Lane County previously.
I believe that the local level is where each of us as the ability to make the biggest impact. There are many critical local races in 2022 and 2023, including for city council, county commission, and school board. I recently moved to North Portland from Southeast Portland, and so I am hoping to be appointed in my new precinct.

323454511BlackDanielleMay 2022I grew up in poverty. We shopped once a month and ate cheap, processed food. I went to public school. I was a single teen mom. I raised 3 children by myself from the time they were born. I have worked survival jobs, been on foodstamps, and washed baby clothes in the bathtub until my hands blistered. I am also the first in my family to graduate from University. I created a non profit animal rescue and ran it for my mother for 10 years. I rescued dogs, worked full time, went to college online full time and had three teenagers. All at the same time. I now work for the State of Oregon. My 3 children are all grown and amazing people. I have a degree in Anthropology/Sociology with minor studies in Gender Studies. I am Portland.
I have never worked in politics. I want to clean up our streets and make them safe for everyone. I want to not only address the homeless crisis, but the reality that rental and housing prices are so high right now, that even on a government workers income, I cannot afford a standard 2 bedroom apt, and I am barely able to afford a 1 bedroom in a very underserved neighborhood. I want to help make it easier simply to exist in Portland. I believe in a living wage, affordable housing, universal healthcare, and creating a less abusive police force that serves the community regardless of color, gender, income, or housing status. I want to make jobs more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with mental health issues and hidden illnesses. Mental health needs to be addressed. I would love to see those suffering mental health illnesses have equal ability to apply for disability and other resources.
