32346Multnomah-4607Kien TruongBorn and raised in Vietnam, I immigrated to the United States in 2014 at the age of 17 to join my grandparents and much of my extended family. I resided in SE Portland in August, 2014 and became a U.S. citizen in November, 2021. I proudly became a registered Democrat on the same day because I believe in our party’s values of striving to make our state and our country a better place for all through inclusive policies and strategic investments. The work begins at the local and county levels and I hope to be part of it. Senator Jama Chief of Staff, DPO Young Democrats of Oregon Caucus Chair. I want to get more involved with my county party.

32345Multnomah-4501Katherine Lattimer I want to do more than a vote, write my congresspeople, and attend their informational meetings. I want to be more involved in appointing people to vacated congressional seats and get to know my fellow humans with similar interests in moving important democratic agendas forward. My expertise in emergency care and mental health would be a valuable addition to Multnomah County's democratic process.

32448Multnomah-4803Katherine ShermanWhile I have remained involved in community activities, I took a hiatus from politics 2020-2022. I am excited to become politically active again, as an advocate for East Portland both within the Democratic Party and beyond. I am part of the Emerge cohort of 2023 and a candidate for David Douglas School Board. While I am running for a non-partisan position, I am a registered Democrat and my personal values align with the Democratic Party platform, particularly when it comes to advocating for universal basic rights, access to voting, supporting organized labor, and criminal justice reform. I want to excite my neighbors and be a resource for them in becoming more involved in these and other issues that may be important to them.

32448Multnomah-4801John KnightOriginally from Tennessee, I have lived in Kansas City and Corvallis before moving to Portland in 2015 to volunteer on political campaigns. My professional background includes public education, nonprofit management, political campaigns, homeware work, and I am currently working as a nursing assistant at the Portland VA since the pandemic. I have served as a PCP since 2016 and as a State Central Committee Delegate for the last three terms. I have led the MultDems Neighborhood Leader Program and served on the SCC's Platform & Resolutions and Rules Committees. However, my PCP status dissolved due to housing instability, resulting in several moves over the last year, which left uncertain my long-term residence in a particular precinct (or even a particular district). Now that my housing is stable, I am happy to get back to the policy and advocacy work to tangibly improve lives that motivates my political involvement.

51938Multnomah-3803Deborah McLaughlinI am a recovering Republican who switched parties in April of 2015 for (hopefully) obvious reasons. I am the daughter of a farmer, a mother of two daughters and a son with disabilities, a mentor to teenage refugees I want to get involved at the local level so I can help make a difference in this community. I donated to many democratic candidates in the 2016 and 2020 elections at the local and national level for senate, house and gubernatorial races as well as gave to PACS. You never need poll workers bc our voting by mail, so I thought I'd volunteer here.

51938Multnomah-3803Jessica SweeneyI have lived in this community for 20 years and am deeply committed to making a positive impact on the lives of my neighbors. As a PCP, I will work tirelessly to ensure that the voices of our community are heard and that our needs are met. I believe in strong public schools, fair compensation for those that keep our community safe, a healthy climate policy, and access to resources and information that ensure a thriving, engaging, and robust democratic process. I am excited to have the opportunity to serve my community as a precinct committee person. Thank you for considering me as a candidate.

32243Multnomah-4305Christopher BaumHave been politically active my entire life, including participating in protests against the Vietnam war with my parents. I am a progressive, who believes that healthcare is a right, not a privilege, that there should not be a cap on Social Security, that unions are crucial to a living wage, that the Supreme Court should be expanded, that the Voting Rights Act must be reinstated in full, and that Citizen's United must be overturned (to name a few issues). I also have a Master's Degree in Conflict Resolution, and wrote my Master's Thesis on American Nationalism. I would like to be involved, and participate in making decisions that will improve the lives of my fellow citizens. E Pluribus unum.
