Hello! Welcome to the F:F Programme Your Own DIY Spreadsheet of Actions.
It's not snazzy, but hopefully it'll do. You can resize the spreadsheet to make it easy to read on on your device.
3
This sheet is for you to register your ideas for action as part of the Programme Your Own Session (Wednesday 29 June 2022 1:00- 4:00 pm) or to see which actions and groups you might like to get involved with. Groups will work for up to 90 minutes over the course of the session, you are welcome to drop in for some or all of this time. You can also share links to helpful information, and register interest in actions if you cannot attend.
4
5
How it works:
1. If you have an idea for action please complete the Pink Columns.
2. If you would like to contribute to an idea for action please compelte the Blue Columns.
3. If you would like to share resources or information on this topic, please complete the Green Columns.

This is a shared, dynamic document.
We recognise there's probably a better way of doing this but we will figure that our as we go.

Please take care not to delete any information (if you do there is a back button near the top so don't panic!)

Don't forget you can connect on the Mighty Networks channel.
If you need anything, please get in touch with Jake at hello@jakeorr.co.uk.

freelance tokensMake a list of actions about How freelancers can avoid being a token for institutions in projects, funding applications and on boards.Being valued for our work and not our titles that helps institutions get funding/ look like they engage with their community as a façade.Get insight on how others do itBothEmma Zangs (Dancers Connect Network Meet-up)Any dance freelancers but can extend to more creative spacesThis is a place you can come back to at any time throughout the afternoon.

official freelancersDiscuss creating a mutual support space for freelancers with "officially" recognised roles within institutions - be they on the board or associates or in any advisory rolesMake these relationships meaningful - and share the learning. Also support eachother in how to raise and deliver difficult conversations. Also to perhaps offer buddying up to help us feel less marginalsied and alone Create a network of conversations - encourage the learning to be both useful to the institutions and to the wider freelance community - Zoom Paule Constable? Vicki Mortimer? Need to confirm!Anyone who has a formalised relationship with a building or company....

unpaid labourDiscuss how to reduce/highlight the amount of unpaid labour for freelance creatives from funding applications, commission applications etcTo get funders and institutions to reduce high levels of paperwork. Support each other. Learn from each other. Hear other people's experience, reduce exploitation, sleep more!ZoomAmanda Kelleher (will need to hop out for a short meeting half way through)Any arts freelancers, venues, fundershttp://www.janienicoll.co.uk/in-kind-project.htmlI currently track the unpaid hours/ true cost of the work (day rate £250) and invoie these hours as 'in kind'. It's made a few employers raise eyebrows but hopefully in a good way!! It makes me feel really sick sometimes!

quick winsQuick Wins / 'Meanwhile' Charter *!NB. Not 29 June!* While waiting for a national freelancer charter, provide a DIY clear and simple campaign foundation freelancers can adopt now, perhaps 3 principles for 'meanwhile', linked to via a single statement in email signatures, social media profiles, websites, etc.Decide if it's a good idea; agree purpose and values a 'meanwhile' charter should embody, shortlist of 3-5 'meanwhile' principlesI would have organised this for today (29 June) but I'm recovering from Covid and unprepared. Can it be done on a different date and time?Claire Gulliver, but see previous column!Freelancers in any creative sector role who think this is worth exploring. I would particularly welcome expertise from those with communications and PR insight - to help us make good decisions and get the messages and tactics right!Samantha WaddiloveNot trying to duplicate other or ongoing work, or to come up with a perfect campaign. Simply trying to do something DIY, workable and that we can use now, while waiting for other initiatives to come to fruition

Claire: good idea worth exploring Sam.
