| RULES | Messages from/to SHEET MAINTAINERS |
| ||
| 1. Don't create filters and don't sort the tables. If you need to filter or sort, use a temporary filter view or make a copy first so other users’ views are not affected | Please use this section to bring any questions, concerns, or suspected accidental deletion of your or others’ entries to the immediate attention of the sheet maintenance team. We will do our best to review and resolve the issue. |
| 2. Do not delete, overwrite, or edit another person’s row unless you are fixing an obvious formatting issue
| 3. Use the monthly tab based on the I-485 Received Date from your receipt notice. Example: if your received date is 04/01/2026, use the Apr 26 tab | A new Entry ID column will be added at the end of each monthly tab. |
| 4. Keep general comments in the Discussion tab or sheet chat, not inside the main timeline table | Please do not delete or modify this column. The unique Entry ID will help us retrieve deleted entries from version history without affecting other updated entries. |
| 5. Use MM/DD/YYYY for all dates | If your entry is deleted, please mention your Entry ID so we can retrieve the correct entry. Thank you so much. |
| 6. Do not enter sensitive personal information, such as full names, A-numbers, addresses, emails, phone numbers, or full receipt numbers

| How to Check USCIS Case API (JSON and Hidden Updates)
| ||
| Some USCIS online account cases may show additional case information through the USCIS case JSON page. This can sometimes show internal event history or “silent updates” that do not appear in the regular USCIS account view.
| ||
| Steps: | |
| 1. Log in to your USCIS online account: https://my.uscis.gov/
| 2. Open a new browser tab and use this format: https://my.uscis.gov/account/case-service/api/cases/YOUR_RECEIPT_NUMBER
| Replace YOUR_RECEIPT_NUMBER with your own USCIS receipt number.
| Example format only: https://my.uscis.gov/account/case-service/api/cases/IOE09XXXXXXXX
| 3. If the page loads successfully, it may show your case data in JSON format.
| You can copy the JSON and paste it into this reader or a similar one to view the information in a more readable format: USCIS Case Status Tracker
| Look for event codes, timestamps, and updated dates. These may help identify silent updates or internal case activity.

| How to Ask a Live Agent (via Emma Chat) about Case Updates
| ||
| You can ask a real USCIS agent (Tier 1) about your I-485 case details and updates (which you can't find in the API). Usually people ask: - if the case was transferred from NBC to a Field Office; if yes -- which one, and when - whether the interview was waived The agents are under huge workload, so it takes some effort to connect to one. Below are some tips. Be sure to prepare your info (see below) and questions beforehand.
| ||
| Steps: | |
| 1. It got quite hard to be connected to an agent recently. Often you'll see "No agents available" message. Hence some advice: - Start at 8am (your local time). E.g. I got lucky at 8:20am. - Expect that you'll have to try multiple times before you get connected. - Firefox didn't work for me. Chrome worked.
| 2. Open Emma chat. Click "Chat with Emma" in the bottom right corner. Select "Connect to Live Agent". Reply to the automated questions: - Preferred language: English - Do you have a case on file: Yes - Your receipt number: <your I-485 receipt number, i.e. IOE093...........> - Briefly state why you'd like to speak with a representative: I'd like to find out some details about my case - What's your phone number: (xxx) xxx-xxxx - Would you like to receive updates from USCIS via text message: No - What's your ZIP code: <your ZIP code> - Are you a member of the US military: No - What's your email address: <your email>
| 3. Outcome: - Either you get connected ("We're connecting you to an agent" message). In this case it may take a couple of minutes for the agent to message you. - Or you'll see "No agents available" message. In this case try again
| 4. They will introduce themselves and ask you some info first: - Your first name and last name - Date of birth - Address - Phone number
| 5. Now they'll ask what questions do you have. You can say for example: Hi. I hope you're doing well. I'd like to know a few details about my case (IOE093............): 1. Can you please tell me if my interview was waived? 2. I'd like to know if my case was transferred to a Field Office, which one, and when?
| 6. They'll usually take some time (a couple of minutes), then reply. Thank them and say that's all you needed. They will close the chat. Be sure to store all the info you've got.
| 7. Further action items: - Add the entry in the "Live Agents Tracker" table, describing your experience with the Live Agent - Add your FO/interview info in your Filer entry (in corresponding month table) - Check the Discord group (the link is above) for the discussion about your FO - Note that your FO and interview status can actually change multiple times, so it's a good idea to re-check with Live Agents monthly
