- BUP-FAST: RCT of peer mentorship (vs. standard referral) for formerly incarcerated individuals with opioid use disorder. Goal is to link to medical care and increase utilization of buprenorphine maintenance treatment.

- Transitions Clinic Network: Multi-site cohort study of Transitions Clinics, which provide medical care to formerly incarcerated individuals upon release from prison. Over 700 patients enrolled.

- Group Buprenorphine Treament: RCT of group vs. individual-based buprenorphine maintenance treatment for opioid use disorder. We will randomize buprenorphine patients with ongoing illicit substance use during treatment to attend a group buprenorphine intervention or receive intensified individual-based treatment with their provider.

- Hep C linkage from correctional facilities: Individuals are screened for Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) risk prior to release from incarceration and are referred for HCV treatment following release.

I have several ongoing projects, including: 1) a longitudinal study of the relationship of opioid use/misuse/addiction with HIV outcomes in patients with chronic pain; 2) a study of the risk of opioid misuse in patients initiating long-acting opioids; 3) a review of state opioid prescribing laws; and 4) an evaluation of a collaborative pain management program that integrates care management and mental health care into primary care based pain management.
