Sutton Park Velocache

A circular(ish) multi-cache around Sutton Park. Sutton Park is a SSSI and as such I did not want to place any geocaches in the park. I have therefore come up with an alternative, so as not to upset the wildlife and Parkie!

You may spot interesting wildlife around the route, including Exmoor Ponies, squirrels, cows and golfers. Please be considerate and give them a wide berth as these are timid animals.

At each WP there is a large obvious man-made item that you need to read and fill in the blue squares below. There is no need to scrabble around hunting for cache containers, or poke your hands into spider webs feeling for nano caches. With the exception of the railway crossing there is no need to even get out of the saddle. If you are at a WP and cannot see the 'sign' then adjust your inclination. There is one bench included, but you can retrieve the answers without having to disturb anyone using the bench.

The clues have been set so that you have a choice of car parks as your starting point.
If starting at Four Oaks Gate or Hartopp Gate, then begin at WP1
There is parking for about 8 cars just inside Four Oaks Gate, many more at Hartopp Gate.

If you choose to start at Streetley Gate, there is plenty ofparking. Drive into the park as far as you can, then start at WP5. I would reccommend this for families - You can return to WP5 on completion of the loop and have an ice cream or coffee while you decode the final part of the puzzle.

If you choose to start at Boldmere Gate, do not use the first car park you come to. Continue over the cattle grid and up the hill to the top car park (by the model airplane flyers), then start at WP8.

If you choose to start at Banners Gate, also start at WP8.

If you choose to start at Town Gate, you've not given this much thought have you!

Pre-requisites:
1. A Bicycle and between one and two hours to spare (depends on how quickly you find the clues). A Mountain Bike is highly reccommended. Not because the route is that tricky, but unless you go in the middle of a long dry summer. It will be muddy between WP1 and WP4.
OR
Wellies/walking boots, between two and four hours to spare, and some patience. The clues are quite spread out if completing this on foot.

2. This file.
If you have a snazzy smartphone that can load Excel files, then use the .xlsx version. The yellow squares will auto-populate as you fill in the blue squares from the clues at the Way Points.
OR
Print out the Excel or pdf versions and use a pen or pencil.
OR
Take Rain Man with you!

WARNINGS
Where posible, the route has been set to avoid you cycling/walking in traffic. If you find yourself on a road with cars, then chances are there is a track running just to the left or right that you could use.

This means it is safe for children and dogs most of the time. However please keep children and dogs close when crossing the railway tracks shortly after WP4 and crossing the car park and road after WP10. Finally, if cycling, watch your speed heading down the hill to WP6 - there are big potholes at the bottom! You will also have to contend with some park traffic when retrieving the final cache.
