What do we want this association to be known for in 5 years or 10 years?

1. Absorbing and welcoming back the Carolina Chiropractors. I know it can seem daunting but let’s work on creating a plan. 2. THE Association that can help docs from start to finish in their careers. We have done well with resources on opening a new office and/or hiring an associate, but now we have to focus on the work to help the older docs have good exit strategies with their practice as well in terms of that transition with the next generation of doctors. 3. I think it would be great to continue to be THE state association that other states look to for advice and guidance. 4. Having a great presence and reputation in Raleigh so that when political issues do come up we have established well enough to have meaningful and productive in our way conversations with legislators.

In line with our Mission Statement, to advance not only our association but to advance our profession. I know a lot of my fellow colleagues are envious of our association when I tell them what all we've done and what we are working on.

How do we define success for chiropractors in our state - and how does the association help achieve that?

1. Not eating young. Getting good resources for young doctors to find their way to success early in their careers. We don’t need poor doctors of chiropractic out there.
2. Maintaining the fire and comradery. We can get on an island quickly if we aren’t careful and we can burn out if our fire isn’t continued to be lit. We need to offer those resources to keep the fire burning!
3. Transition. As docs age, having good transition for their practices is key to a doctor’s life’s work not go to waste. We need to help doctors make the transition well through sales and acquisition resources.

Chiropractors seeing a larger percentage of the population than they currently are.

The growth of licensees in our state. People want to practice not only in a great state to raise a family but also to be successful in practice. Public out reach and student out reach. I think our strategic goals align with that exactly.

Success for chiropractors in our state means no one is struggling and every chiropractor feels supported. Our association helps make that possible by continuing to provide the resources, education, and support needed to ensure we all have the tools to prosper.

What is the biggest threat to chiropractic in the next 5 years?

1. Losing its identity by doing the shit Montana is doing. Drugs (as we know them, not the BOE/FDA definition stuff) in chiropractic do not belong. And by bringing them into the fold, we will lose our identity and the public will lose confidence in us to be separate and distinct.
2. Insurance: Practices need to be moving into a place where they can manage to have a productive business model outside insurance contribution. While consumers want to use insurance, the guidelines and the pinching that has continued, and will continue to happen, will lead to strain on practices that do not have a balance in this arena.

In fighting, lack of cohesion.

Stagnation/decreased in re-imbursements. Cost of living/practicing is exponentially growing, while we see a stagnation of re-imbursements and in some cases, decreases. I've had colleagues reach out to me about this, knowing my position on the board. I'm not sure what the NCCA can do other than continue with our legislative agendas. But as part of our mission statement, we are hear to advocate for our membership, and I plan on doing so in my capacity as a board member.

The biggest threat to chiropractic in the next five years is relying too much on managed care and health insurance. It can limit our choices, lower our payments, and make it harder for patients to get the care they need.
