The goal of the Family Sentiment Survey was to gather a baseline pulse-check of families with students enrolled in HISD.

Campus-specific information was not gathered. Each family received only one survey, regardless of how many students they had enrolled in the district. Families were deduplicated based on their youngest child; for example, a family with a student at Midtown High School and a student at Midtown Elementary School would have received only one survey for their child at Midtown Elementary School.

The student's name was not disclosed to the families completing the survey. Families with multiple HISD students were asked to answer all questions based on their youngest child's experience. However, the survey did not ask families to confirm which campus or student they were actually considering when answering questions. Because of this, we cannot assume campus-specific information from the survey.

Paper surveys had no student or parrent identifiers. As a result, the district cannot link demographic information to those families.

Note: The data included is the raw, unweighted data. The chart below shows how certain race/ethnicity groups were over- or under-represented in the data based on the number of responses we received in comparison with the breakdown of race/ethnicity distribution in the district.
