On the next few tabs is the spawn of my labor of love training log I've been keeping the last year. It's still a work in progress, but I wanted to share the document with those who might be looking for an easily accessible, functional yet not overly-complicated way to track their workouts, mileage, and big-picture plans.

* * * To start using it as your own, go to "File" --> "make a copy" to save it to your own Google Drive, or "Download as" to save a hard copy to your computer.

I included a screen shot (tab "Sample") of my actual log so you could get an idea how I use it - but obviously feel free to make it your own. I enter my long-term plan into the grey, actual mileage once the workout is complete underneath, and notes beneath that. This format provides easy big-picture overview, but still enough detail to go back through and compare to past workouts and see how far you've come/where you need work.

Weekly and monthly mileage will auto-populate, as long as you enter NUMBERS ONLY in the row under each grey row.

Shoe mileage is manual (sorry!) If you're like me and have a few pairs in rotation at all times this will be handy keeping an eye on when it's time for replacements.

Color coding by type of activity makes it easy to see when it might be time for a rest day and when it's been too long since I've hit the yoga mat. I like keeping races (green) in sight, and quick-reference week countdowns (16 to Eug) so nothing sneaks up on me.
