San Gorgonio Wilderness Backpacking
4 days. Roughly 5 miles per day
2
June 28th - July 1st
3
This four(4) day, three (3) night trip is designed to connect our adventures in the beautiful San Gorgonio Wilderness from the last two years. We will leave early Friday Morning the 28th, meeting at the church at 6:30 AM for a 7:15 AM departure. This is a shuttle trip that ideally involves three (3) vehicles so that two(2) can be left at our destination. The last two years have been spectacularly beautiful in the San Gorgonio and this year's trip should not disappoint with heavy winter snows providing ample water well into summer. The daily mileages and climbing/descending look as follows:

Friday June 28th- we'll hike 5.6 miles from Momyer Trail Head (5440 ft.) to our camp at Dobbs Cabin, climbing 2020 ft.

Saturday June 29-we'll hike 5.0 miles from Dobbs Cabin (7240 ft.) to our camp at High Meadow Springs, climbing 3000 ft.

Sunday June 30- we'll hike 5.9 miles from High Meadow Springs (10240 ft.) to our camp at Jackstraw Springs, climbing 400 ft., then dropping 1340 ft.

Monday July 1- we'll hike the final leg from Jackstraw Springs (9280 ft.) to the cars at Forsee Creek Trail Head, dropping 2520 ft and having hiked 21 miles in 4 days.

We should be back at the church about 4PM

The Wilderness Permit limits our party size to twelve (12). With three (3) spots reserved for driving adults, this provides nine(9) slots for scouts. From canyon shaded forest with rushing creeks to the spectacular San Bernardino Ridge (Sunday Morning the 30th) you will come to see why The San Gorgonio is the gem of the Southern California Wilderness Areas.

Outing Leader is John Hicks, Cell 805-660-0758.
