1. A screw assembly for fastening object to be fastened, comprising:
a bolt which is provided so as to be insertable into through-holes of fastening objects that are coincident with each other, and having a thread portion having a male thread formed on at least a part of an outer circumferential surface, and a bolt head formed at one end of the thread portion so as to be inserted into the through-holes together with the thread portion;a nut having a female thread formed on an inner circumferential surface so as to be screw-coupled with the male thread at all times; anda gripping member which is coupled to the thread portion so as to be interposed between the bolt head and the nut, and is provided to be elastically deformable to a shape capable of gripping the bolt by a pressure applied from the bolt and the nut when the bolt and the nut are screw-coupled.
2. The screw assembly of claim 1, wherein the gripping member comprises:
a first gripping portion having a first insertion hole into which the thread portion is inserted, and provided to be insertable into the through-holes together with the bolt head in a state where the thread portion is inserted into the first insertion hole; andan eccentric shaft which is inserted into the first insertion hole together with the first gripping portion, and is formed to extend from one end of the first gripping portion to be supported by the bolt head in a state of protruding by a predetermined length toward a central axis of the thread portion compared to the first gripping portion.
3. The screw assembly of claim 2, wherein the eccentric shaft is formed such that one side surface is in close contact with the thread portion, and at the same time, the other side surface is in close contact with the bolt head.
4. The screw assembly of claim 3, wherein the thread portion further comprises a planar portion whose outer surface is composed of a flat surface and with which the eccentric shaft is in close contact.
5. The screw assembly of claim 3, wherein the eccentric shaft is configured such that the outer surface has a curved or polygonal shape.

The screw assembly of claim 2, wherein the eccentric shaft is configured as a part of the first gripping portion that has passed through the through-holes and is folded in two when the pressure is applied to the gripping member, and is provided to form a gripping blade which is inclined toward the bolt head so as to wrap the circumferential surface of the bolt head at the same time in the first gripping portion.
7. The screw assembly of claim 6, wherein the gripping member further comprises:
a second gripping portion into which the thread portion is inserted and which has a second insertion hole that is coincident with the first insertion hole, and is formed to extend from the other end of the first gripping portion opposite to the one end so as to be interposed between the nut and the fastening objects.

The threaded nut of a ball screw drive according to claim 1 configured with a ball return, wherein the nut sleeve further comprises at least one through-hole configured for a return of balls along the thread, the at least one through-hole formed by the at least one outer hole of the outer sleeve and an inner hole of the inner sleeve, and a deformed edge section of the inner hole is molded into the outer hole.
3. The threaded nut according to claim 2, wherein the nut sleeve further comprises a ball inlet ramp formed by the deformed edge section at a transition from the ball groove to the through-hole.
4. The threaded nut according to claim 2, wherein the at least one outer hole on the outer sleeve is larger than inner hole on the inner sleeve.
5. The threaded nut according to claim 1, wherein the nut sleeve further comprises a connecting component arranged on at least one axial end.
6. The threaded nut according to claim 5, wherein the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve include sleeve parts arranged to be axially adjacent, and one of the sleeve parts is produced in one piece with the connecting component.
7. A method for producing the threaded nut according to claim 1, the method comprising:
providing the outer sleeve with the at least one outer hole,inserting the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve as a nut sleeve,inserting the nut sleeve into a die, an inner circumference of the die formed with a groove helically wound with a pitch about an axis of the die,moving a forming tool into the nut sleeve and forming the thread helically wound about the longitudinal axis in the nut sleeve, the thread forming the ball groove of the threaded nut on the inner circumference of the inner sleeve,molding, with the forming tool, material of the inner sleeve into the at least one outer hole of the outer sleeve.
8. The method according to claim 7, further comprising after forming the thread:
punching or cutting at least one inner hole into the inner sleeve such that the at least one outer hole of the outer sleeve and the at least one inner hole of the inner sleeve form at least one through-hole.
9. The method according to claim 8, wherein a deformed edge section of the at least one inner hole forms a ball inlet ramp.

4. The threaded nut according to claim 1, wherein the nut sleeve includes at least one through-hole configured for a return or deflection of balls along the thread, the at least one through-hole formed by an inner hole of the inner sleeve and by an outer hole of the outer sleeve.
5. The threaded nut according to claim 4, wherein the inner sleeve includes a formed edge section at an edge of the inner hole, the formed edge section forming a ball inlet ramp.

2. The torque-limiting nut of claim 1 wherein the each of the plurality of recesses formed in the internal bore comprise at least an engagement member seat, a radially extending recess wall, and a second recess wall.
3. The torque-limiting nut of claim 2 wherein the second recess wall is angled with respect to the radially extending recess wall.

The torque-limiting nut of claim 1 comprising a unitization ring and wherein the threaded component comprises a unitization channel sized to receive the unitization ring such that the unitization ring inhibits the tool interface from sliding off the cylindrical main body of the threaded component.
5. The torque-limiting nut of claim 1 wherein the elastic member comprises at least one of a spring washer, wave spring, or a die spring.
6. The torque-limiting nut of claim 1 wherein the plurality of engagement members are pins.
7. The torque-limiting nut of claim 1 wherein the plurality of engagement members are balls.
8. A torque-limiting nut comprising:

The present invention also provides a dissimilar material joint in which the pre-oxidized fastener is used to mechanically join dissimilar materials with the oxide layer electrically insulating the fastener from at least one of the dissimilar materials. The fastener may be a rivet used in friction self-piercing riveting (F-SPR). The fastener may be fabricated from an alloy capable of forming Al2O3 or Cr2O3 by thermal oxidation. The fastener may be pre-coated with Al or Cr that functions as a seed layer to form Al2O3 or Cr2O3.1. A method for forming a pre-oxidized fastener for use in joining dissimilar materials, comprising the steps of:
fabricating a bare fastener from an alloy capable of forming an electrically resistive oxide when subjected to an oxidation process;following the fabrication step, pre-oxidizing the fastener in an environment containing oxygen to grow a layer of oxide on an exterior surface of the fastener to provide a pre-oxidized fastener, the layer being in an electrically resistive phase and being of sufficient thickness to electrically insulate the pre-oxidized fastener when used in joining dissimilar materials; andwherein the pre-oxidized fastener exhibits a greater interfacial resistance and/or a lower galvanic current than the bare fastener.
1. A method for forming a pre-oxidized fastener for use in joining dissimilar materials, comprising the steps of:
fabricating a bare fastener from an alloy capable of forming an electrically resistive oxide when subjected to an oxidation process;following the fabrication step, pre-oxidizing the fastener in an environment containing oxygen to grow a layer of oxide on an exterior surface of the fastener to provide a pre-oxidized fastener, the layer being in an electrically resistive phase and being of sufficient thickness to electrically insulate the pre-oxidized fastener when used in joining dissimilar materials; andwherein the pre-oxidized fastener exhibits a greater interfacial resistance and/or a lower galvanic current than the bare fastener.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein the pre-oxidized fastener exhibits: (i) an interfacial resistance at least 10 times greater than an interfacial resistance exhibited by the bare fastener when measured at −1.5 VSCE in a 0.1 M NaCl solution; (ii) a galvanic current at least 50% lower than a galvanic current exhibited by a bare carbon steel fastener of identical geometry to the bare fastener and having a carbon content of 0.18% by weight; or (iii) both (i) and (ii).
3. The method of claim 1 wherein the fabricating step is further defined as fabricating the bare fastener from at least one of an alumina-forming alloy and a chromia-forming alloy.
4. The method of claim 2 wherein the chromia-forming alloy is further defined as a chromia-forming stainless steel containing about 9 to about 30 wt. % Cr.
5. The method of claim 2 wherein the oxide layer has a thickness in the range of about 50 nm to about 1000 nm.
6. A mechanical fastener for use in forming a joint joining dissimilar materials, the fastener being manufactured by the method of claim 1.
7. A mechanical fastener for use in forming a joint joining dissimilar materials, the fastener being manufactured by the method of claim 5.
8. A method for joining dissimilar materials using a mechanical fastener, comprising the steps of:
fabricating a bare fastener including an oxide-forming material exposed on an external surface;following the fabrication step, pre-oxidizing the bare fastener in an environment containing oxygen to grow a layer of oxide in-situ on the exterior surface of the bare fastener to provide a pre-oxidized fastener, the layer being in an electrically resistive phase and being of sufficient thickness to provide electrical insulation of the pre-oxidized fastener; andjoining a first material and a second material using the pre-oxidized fastener, wherein at least one of the first material and the second material is electrically conductive and the oxide layer electrically insulates the pre-oxidized fastener from at least one of the first material and the second material to reduce a potential for galvanic corrosion at the joint.

A barrel nut assembly for connecting a firearm barrel to a receiver of a gas operated rifle, said barrel nut assembly comprising:
a barrel nut which is substantially cylindrical in shape and defines a longitudinally extending bore extending from a back end of said barrel nut along a longitudinal axis to a front end of the barrel nut, said bore having internal threads to be secured at the back end to an externally threaded front end part of the receiver, the front end of said bore being configured to receive a rear end portion of the firearm barrel therein, wherein said front end of the barrel nut has an integrally formed exterior flange having at least two squared off sections to render a forward face of the barrel nut substantially square, the at least two squared off sections configured to be captured within a fixture that rotationally restrains said barrel nut; anda locknut having external threads that engage with the internal threads in the barrel nut bore, enabling the locknut to be threadedly received within and connected to the barrel nut, said locknut being configured to compressively engage and secure said firearm barrel in position against said receiver as the locknut is screwed into the barrel nut and tightened to a preset torque value, a rotational orientation of said barrel nut about the barrel being independent of torque applied to the locknut.
1. A barrel nut assembly for connecting a firearm barrel to a receiver of a gas operated rifle, said barrel nut assembly comprising:
a barrel nut which is substantially cylindrical in shape and defines a longitudinally extending bore extending from a back end of said barrel nut along a longitudinal axis to a front end of the barrel nut, said bore having internal threads to be secured at the back end to an externally threaded front end part of the receiver, the front end of said bore being configured to receive a rear end portion of the firearm barrel therein, wherein said front end of the barrel nut has an integrally formed exterior flange having at least two squared off sections to render a forward face of the barrel nut substantially square, the at least two squared off sections configured to be captured within a fixture that rotationally restrains said barrel nut; anda locknut having external threads that engage with the internal threads in the barrel nut bore, enabling the locknut to be threadedly received within and connected to the barrel nut, said locknut being configured to compressively engage and secure said firearm barrel in position against said receiver as the locknut is screwed into the barrel nut and tightened to a preset torque value, a rotational orientation of said barrel nut about the barrel being independent of torque applied to the locknut.
2. The barrel nut assembly of claim 1, wherein the at least two squared off sections of the forward face of the barrel nut are spaced ninety degrees apart.
3. The barrel nut assembly of claim 1, wherein said barrel nut includes an integral support structure that includes a longitudinally extending bore configured to receive a portion of a gas operating system of the gas operated rifle.
4. The barrel nut assembly of claim 3, wherein said integral support structure includes a bushing positioned on a top side of said barrel nut having the longitudinally extending bore configured to receive the portion of the gas operating system of the gas operated rifle, wherein the portion of the gas operating system is a gas tube.
5. The barrel nut assembly of claim 1, wherein a forward face of said locknut includes a grippable structure configured to be engaged with a complementary gripping structure on a tool that is used to apply torque to said locknut.
6. The barrel nut assembly of claim 1, wherein a forward face of said locknut is provided with a plurality of spaced grooves configured to engage with correspondingly spaced teeth on a wrench which is used to apply torque to said locknut.
7. A gas operated firearm comprising:

3. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 1, wherein said first lock arm includes a bend and extends at least in part in an axial direction.
4. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 1, wherein an orientation of said first lock arm relative to said second lock member is adjustable.
5. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 1 further comprising a third lock member including said first lock arm and an inner portion, wherein said third lock member is coupled to said second lock member.
6. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 5 further comprising pins configured to couple said third lock member to said second lock member.
7. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 5, wherein said first lock arm and said second lock arm extend from opposite sides of said inner portion.
8. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 5, wherein said inner portion and said first lock arm are substantially planar, said first lock arm extending radially outward from said inner portion.
9. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 5, wherein said inner portion is substantially planar, and wherein said first lock arm extends at an angle relative to said inner portion.
10. The fastener assembly in accordance with claim 5, further comprising a fourth lock member including said second lock arm.
11. A lock assembly for a threaded member, said lock assembly comprising:

1. A fastener unit adapted to secure at least one board to a support, the fastener unit comprising:
a spacer block defining a first fastener hole receiving a fastener having a longitudinal axis therein, the spacer block including a front surface, an opposing rear surface, a lower surface, a first side surface and a second side surface opposite the first side surface, the spacer block having a thickness extending from the front surface to the rear surface, the thickness corresponding to a preselected gap between a first board and a second adjacent board, the first fastener hole in the form of a bore defined by the spacer block;a grip element extending from the spacer block, the grip element configured to fit in a first groove defined by the first board, the grip element including a grip element length, the grip element length being greater than the thickness of the spacer block, the lower surface of the spacer block being directly under the grip element, the bore extending below the grip element to the lower surface of the spacer block, the bore being centered on the longitudinal axis between the first side surface and the second side surface; anda first resilient compression element and a second resilient compression element extending away from the spacer block in the same direction and adapted to fit within the first groove and to thereby secure the spacer block adjacent the first groove and establish the preselected gap between the first board and the second adjacent board,wherein at least one of the first resilient compression element and the second resilient compression element includes a wing that forcibly engages the first groove,wherein the wing moves toward a reference plane orthogonal to the longitudinal axis when forcibly engaging the first groove,wherein the spacer block is in the form of a monolithic plastic block that extends directly downward under the grip element and includes a lower portion that extends to the lower surface,wherein the first fastener hole is defined through the lower portion of the monolithic plastic block.

wherein the fastener includes a tip with threads extending below a fastener head, the threads engaging a sidewall of the first fastener hole before the fastener unit is installed relative to the first fastener hole so that the fastener is secured to the spacer block.
3. The fastener unit of claim 1,
wherein the spacer block is integrally and monolithically formed with the grip element as a single piece.
4. The fastener unit of claim 1,
wherein the first resilient compression element and the second resilient compression element extend from the spacer block and are each bendable relative to the reference plane,wherein the grip element is disposed between the first resilient compression element and the second resilient compression element.

There is thus provided a composite washer which is indicating the tightening force on a fastener and counteracting loosening of the fastener. CLAIMS 1. A composite washer according to claim 2 wherein the first inner diameter is smaller than the second inner diameter. 4. A composite washer for force indication and preventing a fastener from loosening, the composite washer comprising, a top part which has a circumferential extension around an axis, an elastic part which has a circumferential extension around the axis, a base part which has a circumferential extension around the axis, wherein the top part, the elastic part and the base part are connected to each other, wherein the elastic part is arranged in-between the top part and the base part, wherein thereis a central opening which has an extension along the axis throughout the top part, the elastic part and the base part, wherein the composite washer is arranged to be in a primary state where the elastic part is visible at a lateral surface thereof, and wherein the composite washer is arranged to be in a secondary state where the elastic part is compressed by the top part and base part such that the elastic part is hidden by at least one of the top part and the base part, at the lateral surface thereof. 2. A composite washer according to claim 1 wherein the elastic part has a longitudinal extension along the axis, from an upper portion, via a mid-portion, to a lower portion thereof, wherein, when the elastic part is uncompressed, a first inner diameter at the upper portion is different from a second inner diameter at the midportion. 3. obtaining at least one custom connector having at least one head, wherein said head comprises a custom void;obtaining a custom converter which mates with said custom void;rotating said custom converter to rotate said custom connector, securing the item in place;removing at least one custom connector with said custom converter; andinstalling conventional screws.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein said item is an electrical panel.
3. The method of claim 1 wherein said custom connector comprises a body.
4. The method of claim 1 wherein said custom connector comprises a plurality of custom connectors.
5. The method of claim 1 wherein said custom converter comprises an adapter, wherein said adapter fits onto a tool, and wherein said tool comprises a conventional shape, and wherein said custom void comprises a non-conventional shape.
6. The method of claim 1 wherein said custom void will not mate with a flat-heat screwdriver.
7. The method of claim 1 wherein said custom connector will not mate with a hex wrench.
8. The method of claim 1 wherein said custom connector will not mate with a Phillips screw driver.
