SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT OVERARCHING GOAL: By July 2016, eliminate the achievement gap entirely between all sub-groups. At least 60% of our students will meet or exceed benchmarks in reading, writing, and math, as measured by Smarter Balanced Assessment.

Goal 1: The class of 2019 will have at least 88% of them earning 6.5 credits or more by the end of their freshman year.

Goal 2: The school will decrease the number of D's and F's to 25% each trimester.

Motivate the UnmotivatedExplore the possiblity of an "employability index" that produces a score/grade on report card. Work with local employers to ask for students to supply latest report card and attendance for employment consideration.Develop a generic, easy to use rubric to score students on the scale of 1-4 on their employability. Employability categories include attendance, punctuality, and meeting deadlines.Creation of metric and presented to local businesses.End of the school year

Develop and implement the Senior Project so it is accessible on-line. The process includes streamline Homeroom curriculum to scaffold the activities.Time (60 hours) in the summer with pay for Homeroom committee.Online documentation of scope and sequence.End of Summer of 2015

Improve the Instructional CoreIdentify critical aspects of the Smarter Balanced Assessment and collaborate as a school and then departments.Language Arts department to inservice and support departments with implementation that is content specific.Aspects identified and a comprehensive plan created.By the end of each trimester

Train staff on the Instructional Rounds process using an outside expert. Seek volunteers for process to share best practices with staff.Must stress voluntary, lot of front loading of information, relationship building activities, stafff development on project based learning.Outside expert consultation and presentation at late starts.End of 1st trimester

Visit several model schools to calibrate our writing and reading practices.Social Studies and Language Arts departments to take part.At least 2 trips completed with a report back at staff meeetings.End of 2nd trimester
