Global Citizenship Education in EmergenciesAndrew Swindellaswindell@ucla.edu
Global Citizenship Education (GCE) has been promoted widely in recent years while research shows the meaning, goals, and focus of GCE varies significantly around the globe, specifically surrounding critical elements of GCE and how ‘universal’ concepts of global citizenship actually manifest at the local and national level. However, most of the literature has a focus on the Global North and GCE practices in middle to high-income countries. The purpose of this panel is to discuss the varying approaches and outcomes of GCE in the emergency contexts with particular attention to forced migration and what citizenship means to international migrants.

Community driven and Indigenous approaches to peacebuilding through education and learning
Yulia Nesterova; Eun-ji Amy KimYulia.Nesterova@glasgow.ac.uk; eun-jiamy.kim@griffith.edu.auWe are doing a project on how peace is conceptualised at the grassroots level and how peacebuilding is approached by local communities and Indigenous peoples. Our project employs arts-based and traditional research methods to engage people in conflict and post-conflict zones. We'd be interested in partnering with others to form a panel to explore diverse conceptualisations and approaches to building peace through education and learning.Peacebuilding; peace education; grassroots peace work; arts-based methods2-3Email Yulia and Amy if interested
