· Be a permanent resident of an identified zip code in the metropolitan areas of Raleigh/ Durham, NC (see below).

· Be of African American/Black, Latino/a, Native American or Asian/Pacific Islander heritage.

· Be a first-time degree or certificate seeking student in academic year 2023-2024 who is between the ages of 16-24 at the time of selection.

· Possess an unweighted cumulative grade point average between a 2.50-3.50 or an earned GED.

· Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”) form for 2- or 4-year programs. Students seeking to enroll in certificate programs must complete any related financial assistance forms where applicable.

· Be a US citizen or permanent resident.

· Be Pell Grant eligible with demonstrated, unmet financial need at the time of selection as verified by the college or university financial aid office.

Application Requirements

For consideration, applicants must submit the online application complete with the following required application materials by the due date of May 15, 2023:

· Current academic transcript (or GED certificate) of all recorded grades at the time of application. Unofficial is acceptable.

· A copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) from the submitted 2023-2024 FAFSA.

· One completed reference form from a source familiar with the student’s character and academic performance.

· A 500-word essay personal statement discussing a leadership experience and how it contributes toward your personal goals.

· A 250-word brief constructed response on financial freedom and what it means to your family.

· A 60-second video creatively expressing your authentic self and why you should be chosen as a Fidelity Scholar. (MP4, YouTube or Google files accepted)

Optional:

· An official school profile from your school’s professional counseling department that shows the school’s name, address, CEEB code and grading structure.

Reference Form Requirement

A completed application package status is a submitted student form and a submitted reference form.

One reference form is required to complete this application. The recommender must be a non-relative. The recommendation form must be completed through the online application system and received by the application due date of May 15, 2023.
