About this resource

The original GDEIB tool was created with input from 112 expert panelists around the world with the intention to help organisations determine strategy and measure progress in their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) work. GDEIB helps organizations to address DEI comprehensivley, sustainably and with focus on the outcome. This spreadsheet is a simplified version aiming to provide an efficient way to go through the four benchmark sections with subsequent categories (see visual below). It is intended to be used over time to measure continuous progress.

How to use it

1. Make a copy of this spreadsheet for your organization. (Click File - Make a copy or Download)

2. Review and fill out the Overview & Implementation Plan tab. Or you may choose to go to step 3 first and then go back to this section.

3. Go through each of the 4 sections (divided into individual tabs). Highlight the cell that's most applicable for each sentence. This step likely requires reflection and input from various stakeholders.

(4. If needed, refine the Overview & Implementation Plan if new insights occurred in step 3).

5. Implement said actions. Go back to this tool to track progress as per your measurement timeline. Identify progress, celebrate wins, adapt goals and actions as needed and keep up the good work!

This tool is based on and adapted from The Center for Global Inclusion's GDEIB framework. This, simplified GDEIB, version is created in collaboration between BC Co-op Association, Alberta Community and Cooperative Association and Women's Economic Council. It's part of a collection of resources to facilitate gender parity and meaningful representation of equity-deserving groups in leadership roles in co-ops.
