DescriptionWhat is Unifrog? Introduce the platform to students, get all students logged on, and complete the Careers library treasure huntIntroduce students to skills and why they matter. They can then use this knowledge to identify their own skills!Students complete the Interests quiz on Unifrog and find out which jobs might be of interest to them.Students find out how to identify their activities and record them for future use.Students explore dream jobs on the Careers library and how to choose them.

Teacher preparationAdd as an interaction by clicking Advanced view>Sort by school leaving year>[filter for specific students]>+interaction.

Familiarise yourself with the Unifrog Careers library (Student side>Careers library) and the way students can record competencies on in the Competencies tool (Student side>Competencies>Add example).

∙ For a 45 minute offline classroom lesson,
provide a sheet of writing paper for each student.

∙ For a distance lesson or 15 min classroom lesson,
email or print one ‘Careers library treasure hunt 1’ Distance learning worksheet per student in your class, making sure to delete the first pages of teacher notes.

Use the platform’s Usage charts to see a graph of students’ popular career areas and recorded competencies once they’ve completed the lesson (Usage charts>Customise and filter>Most popular career areas/Competencies logged).
∙ Add as an interaction by clicking Advanced view>Sort by school leaving year>[filter for specific students]>+interaction.

∙ Familiarise
yourself with the Unifrog competencies and the way students can record these on the platform (Student side>Competencies>Add example).

∙ For a 45 min classroom lesson,
print off one ‘What are skills’ worksheet per group or pairing in your class.

∙ For a distance lesson or 15 min classroom lesson,
email or print one ‘What are skills?’ sheet per student in your class, making sure to delete the first page of teacher notes.

Objectives∙ To learn about a variety of different careers and become familiar with the Unifrog Careers library∙ To learn what skills and competencies are, and how to demonstrate them.

∙ To use this knowledge to identify students’ own skills and learn how to record them on the Unifrog platform.
∙ To allow students to learn more about themselves and explore the careers commonly associated with their interests.∙ To understand why recording activities is important, and how this will be useful in the future.

∙ To learn how to record activities on the Unifrog platform.
∙ To explore what students’ dream jobs are and how they can consider different possible jobs.

∙ To familiarise students with the Careers library so they can learn more about various jobs and research what they need to do to achieve their goals.

Tasks for students- Discuss the definition of a career and the things that are important when choosing a career
- Log in and complete a treasure hunt on the Unifrog Careers library
- Use students' understanding of the different search functions in the library to research their top three careers
- Explore the definitions of hard and soft skills
- Practise listening skills and discuss why different write ups of competencies are effective and unhelpful
- Learn about the STAR method
- Write records of their Unifrog competencies and understand why this is important.
- Read the Know-how library guide on Holland Codes and guess which personlity type they might be.
- Take the Interests quiz on Unifrog.
- Research careers associated with their Interests profile results
- Explore the definition of an 'activity' and why recording them is important
- Discuss contrasting write ups of activities and reflect on top tips for recording them well
- Write records of students' own activities in the Unifrog Actvities tool
- Explore the different things students might consider when deciding on a dream job.
- Understand the Unifrog tools with which to research, filter, and narrow down their favourites on the Careers library.
