2 | Exeggutor-A | Ban. Eggy-A breaks way too effectively to be in the tier. Has plenty of opportunities against to fire off attacks against slower Pokemon, pokemon it can check 1v1/force out, and choice locked pokemon. While Eggy-A is prediction reliant with choice specs and vulnerable to numerous faster pokemon, that doesn't hold it back enough because it is so easy to support and has the bulk/resistances to find opportunities to attack. Moreover, 50/50s are skewed in its favor because of Eggy-A's monstrous firepower. | Ban. At the end of the day, the combinaison between specs, OTR eggy and Eject Pack makes counterplay against Exeggutor-Alola too inconsistent to give it more time in the tier. If every set alone is manageable in my opinion, the combinaison of three different sets makes the teambuilding being a real nightmare, forcing to play a bunch of ice priorities in offense, breaking all the momentum you can get in balance in forcing a bunch of passive mon in your team and having to play around eject pack shenanigans. In the long term, I simply don't see eggy being a healthy addition in the tier considering it will force structures to be more and more one dimensional and would break any flexibility we can have in the teambuilding. If I think a decent level of counterplay currently exists, both defensively and offensively, Exeggutor-alola simply gets too much opportunities to damage structures. | DNB. I see eggy as the scariest Pokemon in the tier right now and for good reason. I'm not gonna go deep here since the sentiment is most pro-ban and I'm ok with that but I wanted to see Eggy in a more stable meta where defensive cores with its checks emerge and less centered around webs+pivoting+breakers. It probably is too good for the tier though regardless of that | Ban; See NP thread, I favored the pro-ban statements of my initial dissertation. | Ban. Lacking anything close to meaningful defensive counter play, eggy finds itself in a meta where its x4 resist to grass, water, and electric gives it so many moments to come in and claim a kill when backed by its bulk. And while slow, its just fast enough to out speed even speed invested walls so your options to take it on are basically just play in a way to never let it in and then if it does get in build your team with Cryo or pack a ton of 50/50 switch ins and pray you get them right. | Ban - https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/np-zu-stage-4-more-is-enough-quick-bans-20.3675570/post-8720404. Made a big post to explain my thoughts. tldr: Specs Eggy-A's defensive counterplay is limited to mon that lose to SR, full SpD Cryogonal, and winning every 50/50s. Getting Eggy-A on the field is super easy with the numberous pivots we have. OTR and Eject pack are dangerous too, but Specs is broken enough on its own.
3 | Vikavolt | Ban. Vikavolt is simply way too good for ZU. It is nearly unwallable, provides insane pivot support (which means it doesn't even care about the fatter SpD mons that can check it 1v1), makes Webs low risk and high reward as czim said, and just lacks reliable counterplay. Ability to keep itself healthy with Roost+great natural bulk+Levitate+resistances give Vikavolt another dimension and make it even more difficult to play against. Moreover, Vikavolt enables so much stuff and I'd like to see how the meta develops without its influence | Ban. Vikavolt doesn't have consistent counterplay. Stunfisk-Galar needs to receive 4 turns of damage to put it asleep, everything else can be pivoted around. The presence of vikavolt alone in the tier makes webs too much consistent and is detrimental to any offense web-less playstyle. The bulk, the movepool and the firepower of vikavolt gives it too many opportunities to set up webs freely. This pokemon also 2HKO everything which is not hella passive or resists it and it would get momentum with a strong volt switch. This mon shouldn't have dropped ZU in the first place. | Ban. Vikavolt is way too good for SS ZU. It has a lot of offensive and defensive utility and makes webs low risk high reward to use in this metagame, enabling several wallbreakers. The combination of Roost, Sticky Web and Volt Switch is also dreadful to answer with its bulk and firepower making it very hard to pressure it to not lay down webs. Offensive sets like Agility+Throat Spray are also underused and don't have the same counterplay as offensive sets | Ban; See NP thread, I favored the pro-ban statements of my initial dissertation. | Ban. Vikavolt enables a lot of problematic pokemon in the tier by virute of being the best slow defensive pivot on top of being one of the best wall breakers in the tier. It also allows to to splash webs on teams with very little commitment to the play style, which while not entirely broken on its own, only adds to the bigger picture of why its problematic. It just hits way too hard and is way too rewarding for what it does. | Ban - Vikavolt gives just to much utility and is the reason why wallbreakers are just so hard to deal with. Slow and powerful Volt Switch that can't be blocked let any wallbreaker switch in freely. Access to Sticky Web also helps in this regard, as it lets wallbreakers like Magmortar and Gallade outspeed offensive checks like Basculin and Silvally forms. Vikavolt is also pretty bulky and have access to reliable recovery, what makes it hard to wear down and enables it to be always super efficiant through the game. It's also almost impossible to switch-into, even with few SpA EVs, as 145 SpA with near perfect coverage with its dual STAB hits super hard. All in all, this Pokémon gives insane utility to its team, is hard to take out and is hard to switch into. Vikavolt is just too strong and centralizing.
