9 | 1.2 Uniforms, Equipment and Playing Rules Modifications: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | A. Team shirts and caps will be provided by the Association to all new registered players. Appropriate currently styled JSSA-issued team shirts are mandatory. Caps are optional; if worn, only currently styled JSSA-issued caps are allowed. This rule will apply to any time during the year when league games are played. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

12 | B. The use of pitchers’ safety screens is mandatory for games and batting practices. After the pitch, the pitcher must immediately go FULLY behing the safety screen. The pitcher’s safety screen must be placed so that the edge of the screen’s box is in the middle of the rubber and is no more than three feet in front of the rubber. (Can be located on pitcher's glove hand OR throwing hand side.) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

28 | J. Once a manager has confirmed a substitute for a roster player in a League game, the substitute must be permitted to play even if the roster player changes his mind. The roster player is eligible to play only if he is needed to avoid a forfeit. 30 | K. Teams are limited to five runs per inning. The final inning will not have a run limit. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

32 | L. Home Run Rule: There is no limit on the number of Home Runs a team can hit per game. A player hitting a home run over the fence does not have to touch any base. All other base runners may return directly to the dugout. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

34 | M. During the game, a player may receive one walk. In any subsequent turn at bat, he has the choice to accept or reject another walk. If he rejects another walk, he must inform the umpire and opposing manager of his intention prior to stepping into the batter’s box. Balls will not be called, however if the pitcher throws four balls, the umpire will warn the pitcher and manager that if two more balls are thrown without a strike, the pitcher will be removed and replaced by another player. The batter will start again with a one ball one strike count. The removed pitcher may return as the pitcher in the following inning. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

36 | N. A runner must make every effort to avoid colliding with opposing players while running the bases. (Interference) The runner involved in all on field collisions will be called out. If in the umpire’s judgment, he misses an otherwise reachable base to avoid a collision with another player the runner will be called safe. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

38 | O. If a batted ball hits the pitching screen, it is a strike. If the ball hits the pitching screen again, the batter is out. There is no courtesy. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

40 | P. Throwing The Bat - Throwing or flinging of a bat is prohibited as it could cause injuries. Intentional acts that involve bat throwing should be considered unsportsmanlike conduct and should be addressed in context with the JSSA code of conduct. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
41 | If a player throws or flings the bat after hitting the ball AND it is determined that it was not an intentional act the player will receive a verbal warning with a request to control the action. If the incident occurs a second time during a game, the player will immediately be removed from the game in the interest of safety. The player's remaining at bats will not be recorded as outs to the team due to the unintentional nature of this infraction. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

69 | 4.2 Upon request of the umpire, all playing equipment shall be subject and made available for inspection. Any manager shall have the opportunity to request the umpire inspect questionable equipment.
