How to Submit a Video Topic - Cooking, cultural activity, how-to, dance, song, performances, travel experience, family favorite stories, etc. Submission deadline Date: Monday October 26th 2020 11.59 EST Upload link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1F6mZQHcSMeYxtdPBx0O04y1F2J9UVm3W?usp=sharing Duration: - 3-5 mins (desired). If it is above this limit then we may edit as needed. File name - Please include country/state/culture and topic in the file name. General tips and guidelines for making video. Don’t shoot Vertical Video - Record with your phone or device turned horizontal to resemble a TV screen. Good Lighting - Select a location with bright and even lighting that does not cast shadows. If recording indoors, turn ceiling light on. Avoid recording directly in front of window. If recording outdoors, position the sun behind camera or shoot in shade. Stay Steady - Use a stand, support, tripod, if possible, to keep your shots steady and well framed. Better Audio - Keep the Phone/Camera within 2-4 ft of the voice so that built-in camera does not pickup other sounds like Heating/AC. Don’t use digital zoom – Instead stay closer to the subject, for better image and audio quality. Exposure and focus - Simply tap on your subject using your smartphone’s default app to manually lock exposure and focus in your footage. Keep it simple and fun, enjoy making video with your family!

How to submit a recipe

Every year when we host Food & Culture Night, families ask for the recipes of the wonderful dishes that are presented on the country tables.
This year we hope to publish a digital cookbook.

Submission deadline: Monday, October 26, 2020

Please send a Word, PDF, PPT document or Google doc link
to Leah at leah.even@gmail.com

Make the recipe as simple to follow as possible - so that children and parents will be able to cook together.

Please include:
* List of ingredients (and any special equipment required)
* Yield - number and size of servings the recipe will make
* Clear, simple directions for preparation
* Don't forget to note baking temperature and/or cooking time
* Personal story behind the recipe - why did you choose this dish? what is special about it? what is the history behind it?
* Photos - preferably your original photos (or photos that are not protected by copy rights)
* Other relevant recommendations - is there a nearby restaurant that serves this dish? if there are rare/special ingredients, is there a nearby store that you recommend?

Thank you!

How to Host a Live Country Table on Zoom

Submission deadline Date: Monday October 26th 2020 11.59 EST
A unique Zoom link will be provided to you and your guests who wish to visit your country. Each country visit will be 15-20 minutes long and will have a small group of visitors only.
Duration: - 15-20 mins

General tips and guidelines for hosting a live country table
Think of creative ways to add artifacts that describe your cultural heritage - For eg. world map showing the country you are hosting, art pieces from the country or share pictures or a video from your recent travel. If your kids have travelled to this country, have them talk about their travel experience and how it compares to or is different from USA. You can either play a virtual game with your guests, teach a dance or share an exerpt from a book with them. You can also share a list of local grocery stores or restaurants you visit.
