BSD7 COVID Advisory Task Force

Overview and Purpose

Creation of the BSD7 COVID Advisory Task Force was triggered by ongoing consensus conversations in the district between the Bozeman Education Association, District Administration, and the BSD7 Board of Trustees. Specifically, the consensus committee agreed to the following collective statement:

Taking into consideration the safety and social/emotional well being of students and staff, as well as the importance of in-person instruction on student learning, the consensus group agrees that we align existing CDC guidelines, County Health data, and District COVID data in decision making. Additionally, components in individual buildings such as support services, ability to clean and staff the building, and perform contact tracing will be reviewed by an advisory taskforce of experts in education and public health. This advisory task force will develop thresholds to trigger discussion with administration and the Board of Trustees regarding specific instructional model decisions, including Remote, Cohort, Blended, 4+1, and five days of in-person instruction.

The group proposed that a small, responsive advisory task force be established. The group will be composed of District administration, staff, Bozeman Health, and Gallatin City/County health department representatives.

External Community COVID Metrics - Three specific community metrics that measure COVID transmission in Gallatin County

Internal BSD7 COVID Metrics - Five specifc internal BSD7 metrics that measure the school level impact of COVID

Decision Making Matrix - A matrix that brings together the external community metrics and internal BSD7 metrics and ties that data to various instructional models

PK-5, Middle School, and High School Dashboards - Grade band dashboards are a weekly visualization of metric and matrix data over time

How Will The Data Be Used?

The BSD7 Covid Task Force Metrics and Decision Making Matrix will guide central office administration in making recommendations to the BSD7 Board of Trustees for moving grade bands or the entire district between instructional models. Additionally, the internal BSD7 metrics will guide building and central office administration in making school specific decisions when building staffing or COVID data warrants a temporary move to remote learning.
