The following list includes courses on topics related to the study of Latin American and Caribbean societies and is intended for use by undergraduate students declared in the LACS major or minor . Students electing the major or minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies should consult the LACS advisor for approval of any course to be used toward the program. Independent study and directed reading courses may also be used toward a major or minor when appropriate. Please consult the LSA Course Guide (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/cg/) and relevant departments for details. Courses in modern language departments are listed only when their topics are relevant to an understanding of the culture, history, and politics of Latin American and Caribbean societies. Students are invited to consult the LSA Course Guide for a complete list of language courses.
