17 | Cards of Kindness | The main mission of Cards of Kindness is to spread love and words of encouragement to those who are facing some of the toughest experiences of their lives. Our club will be meeting weekly to make cards for hospitalized patients of all ages in hospitals as well as local nursing homes within the Huntington Beach Community. Members will be able to make specialized holiday cards, motivational cards, or simply write any kind words or stories they wish to share with patients. 45 | Mental Health Awareness Club | According to the Association for Children's Mental Health, "1 in 5 young people have a mental health challenge that is severe enough to impair how they function at home, school or in the community," which can stem from multiple issues including but not limited to, fear of social impact, not having access to resources, and often the unwillingness to admit that there is a mental health issue present (Problems at School: Association for Children's Mental Health, 2019, 4).
