Notes on data sources and methodology:

*This spreadsheet contains facility information for public school buildings located in Orleans Parish for the 2022-23 School Year, as of October 1, 2022. Any facility relocations that occurred after this date are not reflected in this snapshot. Information on facility condition is limited to those facilities owned by the Orleans Parish School Board (does not include private facilities).

*10-year capital planning costs by square footage is a measure developed by NOLA-PS to project anticipated capital costs over the course of 10 years. All but six permanent facilities occupied by students were assessed. These six facilities are indicated by a *** in Column I of the "School Board Facilities" tab. These facilities were all undergoing major construction at the time of assessment, so will be assessed in the future. For the sake of the analysis, they were designated as Tier 1 facilities because most are newly built or majorly renovated and will have minimal projected 10-year capital repair needs.

*In 2020, OPSB renamed several buildings that had been named after past slave owners, confederate offficals, or segregation supporters. This spreadsheet includes a tab showing the name changes.

*Total Enrollment data was provided by the Louisiana Department of Education Multi stats files for public schools located in Orleans Parish.

*Facility tier information by zip code and subgroups include only NOLA-PS owned buildings where student enrollment counts are known.

*For schools with multiple campuses, subgroup data was calculated by applying school level percentages via LDOE enrollment multistat files (Total Enrollment) to each campus. Because LDOE's subgroup data is shared at the school level (all grades) instead of the facility- or campus-level, the subgroup percentages were applied uniformly across campuses for any school that is split among multiple campuses.

*Augustus T. Walker and OPSB #7 were both occupied by schools in the 2021-22 school year, but will be vacant in the 2022-23 school year, so NOLA-PS did not develop 10-year assessment estimate for these facilities. The 10-year capital project costs for these schools was estimated and provided by NOLA-PS based on an older version of their capital planning tools.
