Session types

These are divided into ‘taught’ sessions, which require more preparation and expertise for delivery; and ‘activity’ sessions, which are more about me being present on site and know what I’m talking about / doing.

Taught sessionsTalksPre-arranged topic. Slides and props provided, plus Q&A.
Attendees will learn about a specific topic, from an expert, in an engaging way.
Includes 30min of Q&A.

Q&AAdditional questions from attendees, after the initial time period of the talk / workshop. 30min increments.

Workshops / demonstrations.Longer session with specific learning / skill outcomes.

Attendees will learn more about the specific topic, and how to do a specific thing.

Activity sessionsOn-site activityA specific activity taking place on a site, involving some element of the site itself. E.g. bug hunting; pond dipping; running a BioBlitz; focusing on a citizen science project.

Exact outcomes may vary based on season, weather, and so on. E.g. a bug hunt will definitely happen, but I can't say we will definitely find specific critters.

If a specific topic is required (e.g. for school group), I can provide additional activities / info to make sure those goals are met.

Expert opinion / site walkSite visit and expert opinion / input.
E.g. Discussing wildlife gardening options for a site.
E.g. Showing what bugs can be found on a site (grown-up bug hunt!)

Topics / focus can be fixed or flexible on the day.

Event activity Attending an event in an expert capacity; e.g. with an engagement activity or drop-in session.
