GenderTracker is a deployable service that allows a news organization to evaluate their content for gender distribution. The platform evaluates articles on a case by case basis, and offers metrics about who it was written by and about. More about GenderTracker can be found here: http://opengendertracking.org

Using the GenderTracker platform we've conducted a case study with Global Voices (http://globalvoicesonline.org/,) an international community of bloggers who report on blogs and citizen media from around the world. We looked at 9 years of posts kindly provided for us by the Global Voices staff.

In this spreadsheet you will find the following data:
10
* Gender Counts Per Year - For each year how many articles were written by Male, Female or Unknown authors.
11
* Author Data - For each author in each year an anonymized unique byline is provided as well as the average word and paragraph count for articles and the total number of articles written by that author in the given year.
12
* Articles/Authors Split - A high level summary table showing the distribution of gender in registered Global Voices authors who have written at least one article (Authors) and by the total number of articles written (Articles).
13
* Number of Articles per Author - Authors are broken down into roughly equal bins by the number of articles each has written across our entire dataset. Within each group we show the distribution of authors by gender.
14
* Number of Articles per Author, Full Posts - The same as above, filtered for full-length posts
15
* Category Summary - Gender distribution is shown (by number of articles written) across different categories of articles. Categories are added by authors and editors and may not be exclusive but generally map to regional coverage and authorship.
